Can’t beat this place for deli meats, cheeses and all very affordable!

Very good food. Very small place with next to no seating but huge portions and very helpful staff. We asked for the meat/cheese board without bread and got extra meats instead. We were surrounded by locals which is always a good sign!

When in Italy, you have to try the cutting board with the different cured meats. We got the deluxe plate with all the meats, cheeses, and bread spreads. It didn’t seem like a lot but we were all stuffed by the time we were done. And their wine was perfectly paired and inexpensive. The space is long and narrow and they’re not really a restaurant, so seating is first come first serve, otherwise you can stand at the bar area. We shared a table with friendly travelers from Australia.

The girl who worked there was super nice. 5 euro taster board, glass of house red 2.50 euro. Alot for a small amount and was fairly good. I recommend!

I had a small proscuitto and cheese plate which included olives and some bread. Their house wine is a delicious chianti classico. It’s delicious and it’s 2 Euros a glass! We ended up buying the bottle to bring home :) The guy behind the counter, Nicolo, was super nice and very gracious when we tipped him. That made us feel great! :) They have another location in Rome that we didn’t make it to, but the Florence location was perfect for us! They offer free water and no cover charge to sit down. Definitely recommended! :)

The reviews aren’t wrong this place is stellar. It is also open mid-afternoon when others are not. They size the meat and cheese boards to your group size and be prepared to be amazed. The house red wine is great and cheap. The sandwiches are great too. This is a must visit for the food and the vibe.

Visited La Prosciutteria today after reading many reviews prior to arriving in Florence. On first appearance this place is quite rustic which only adds to its appeal. As for the food — words can not say enough or pay enough credit. Just look at the photos for yourself and ask ‘can this many people be wrong?‘ No gimmicks, add on’s or combos — just seriously good, old fashion, honest food.

We came here for our first meal in Florence based on the Unilocal reviews. We gave the chefs free reign to create a charcuterie board for us. We didn’t specify the price, and the«default» turned out to be the 10 euro/person option(there is also 5 and 15 euro/per person option on the menu, but we didn’t look). Other tables got similar boards, with different meat, cheese, and spread permutations. We could probably request specific combinations, but that would take away all the surprise and half of the fun. The platter was a substantial meal for 20 euros, and the house wine — although nothing special — was only 2.5 euros. The meat selection was varied and delicious. Service was swift and friendly. We couldn’t name all the meat, but we loved the proscuitto and the salami with peppercorn and fennel seeds. We didn’t care too much for the bread or the spread(some light cheese bread). Universally, the Florentine bread is spongey, dry, and bland. We later saw La Proscuitteria in Siena and Roma and realized it is a chain… While I have nothing against franchising, it took away the special feeling. Still, La Proscuitteria is a great place to try, but don’t feel too sorry if you miss it in Florence — you will probably see it again on the next leg of your Italy trip.

Décidément en Italie, impossible de se tromper. On mange bien partout.

I love these hole-in-the-wall type of places while traveling — menus are in the local language and employees speak very little English but they serve delicious food that doesn’t break the bank. Apparently this place can sell food but doesn’t have a restaurant license so it’s all self service: you order at the counter and stake out a table. Walk all the way down to the counter in the back to order. We didn’t have a preference on what to order and spoke no Italian so we just asked the guy to give us a mix for two. There’s a choice between a single platter 5 €, platter for two 10 € and a large platter and they also do sandwiches. For our platter for two we got an array of meats, one type of cheese, 3 diff spreads on breads, fungi, some type of omelet appetizer thing and also dried figs I believe. We also asked them for a white wine that they chose for us. Light dinner with lots of flavor/variety for 15 €, which was just ridiculously cheap for the amount of food we got and the two glasses of wine

Only in Florence can one randomly walk into a shop like this and be welcomed with the greatest sandwiches on the planet! That’s exactly what happened to me one fateful afternoon, when I decided on a whim to step inside La Prosciutteria and have lunch. The atmosphere was really cozy and I enjoyed a Tuscan ham sandwich with sun dried tomato and ricotta cheese spread. The ingredients were top-notch and made my mouth water after just a couple of bites! I washed down the culinary excellence with an orange Fanta, which actually had real orange juice in it, unlike the United States version. I now personally blame La Prosciutteria for making every sandwich in California taste mediocre.

Only 10 € for one of the most amazing charcuterie plates you’ll ever have! The boyfriend & I split the small platter and it was more than filling. While it’s not quite enough for lunch on its own, it’s great if you’re snacking your way through town! The plate came with slices of crostini w/spread, a few different types of meat(including lardo!), and some veggies. I made the mistake of expecting to get seated, but this place isn’t technically a restaurant so remember to order at the counter and seat yourself. This is a perfect stop to fill up on calories before trekking across the river and hiking up to Piazzale Michelangelo for the sunset~

Had a great lunch here recently. The staff is excellent. They are very friendly and helpful. We had a sample platter for two and my son had a sandwich — prosciutto cotto on focaccia. He loved his sandwich. We had a variety of delicious cheeses and meats with some terrific crusty bread which was covered in equally delicious spreads. This is a self serve place so you make your order at the counter, select your drinks from the cooler and when your order is ready they will let you know. You pick up your plastic plates and cutlery as well. You pay once you are finished. It is a small place but if it looks full there is an additional room at the back that you cannot see, so check. The prosciutto, the salami’s and the cheese are outstanding and the dried cured meats are hanging for all to see. This is a great stop during time in Florence This is a great option for lunch, a light dinner or a midnight snack. I wish there was a place like this where I live!!!

Thank you Unilocal for this amazing recommendation. La Prosciutteria was our first meal in Florence. Our meat & cheese board was so flavorful, and so simple– it really showcased the best of fresh fruit, cheeses, charcuterie, olives, and bread. We splurged for the more extravagant ‘gourmet’ board, although I’m not sure what it provided rather than a traditional large board. Either way, it was delicious, and I would highly recommend the house wine.

I love prosciutto so of course i had to try this place out. Walked into the narrow shop and was immediately overwhelmed. I had no idea what to order or what to do. The guy behind the counter was super helpful and nice. I basically just told him i wanted a sandwich with prosciutto and he recommended me something. As he was making my sandwich he noticed me eyeing the prosciutto and gave me a slice as he worked! for 4.50 euros it was a pretty good deal. the bread was good. the cheese and prosciutto AMAZING! we did see some people eating off of these massive boards of cheese, spreads and meats which left me speechless. the display was beautiful and can only imagine tasted great too.

Such an awesome sandwich spot for cheese and meat platter. I’ve been so lucky to be eating great food in Florence. a step up from Venice in food is for sure. I found this spot on another review site since Unilocal is new to Italy, and accurate to be a five star place. It’s also down the street from the Uffizi museum. There will probably be a line out the door many carrying backpacks when you find the place, but the line goes quickly, not much a wait. To get here we also passed by another sandwich shop with a huge line. The poster out front with a movie star eating their meat was funny. The front window and all inside are hanging Prosciuttos it was very cool to look at. This is not a restaurant(no licence), but a sandwich or cheese, meat and bread platter place that will freshly slice you up your — meat of choice with your –cheese of choice(fresh mozzarella is a fantastic choice) — toppings like chopped olives, truffle, balsamic drizzle, sundried tomato, fresh sliced tomato, so on with foccacia bread. Assembled by pretty and friendly, knowledge counter girls. They will happily serve you a chunk of any sample to taste before you choose. — There is alcohol and other drinks in the fridge you help yourself to, and faucet water with cups that’s safe and tasty. My husband got hooked on the l’Aranciata(Orange) San Pellegrino here. There are picnic tables inside you can sit and eat, or take your sandwich outside enjoy the sights of Florence with one of the best Paninis. Keep in mind the mixture of salty cheese with salty meat with salty topping like I did. My husband was nice enough to switch sandwiches with me cause I got sundried tomato spread smeared on my pecorino, prosciutto panini. Things like lettuce and tomato with a mild cheese like fresh mozzarella, and the cured meat would work well. The cheese and meat platter looks like the way to go. I was jealous after I saw it beside me. Generous fresh sliced portions here, friendly staff, and very good prices. I would come back the next chance I could! Expect to pay only 4 – 5 Euros for an awesome meal.

Yup. This place was my sister’s favorite place to eat in Florence. We decided to get the board of meats and cheeses for 5 euro per person. I also got a glass of wine. When you first walk in, you have to order on the right side of the restaurant. They do not do table service because they don’t have the license to do so. Then after you order, you watch them pull together all the meats and cheeses. You can also tell them stuff you like /don’t like, and they will make sure to include it /not include it. My sister doesn’t like prosicutto that much so they only put a little of it for myself. They then hand you the board, which you take back to your table and enjoy. You can also order wine at the back area or in the front area, whichever you prefer. After you finish, you pay. There are also two bathrooms — one for employees and one for customers. It’s a pretty clean establishment, and man, the food is delicious. I personally loved the spreads on the small pieces of bread. It varies day to day what they have and give to you which is the appealing part to me. I can go in and have something completely different yet still excellent. They also give you a fresh basket of bread to eat with your board. Wish they had this in the states! Also, just to note, this street in general is great for food. There are several markets, a well known sandwich shop(d’allinamoo something) and gelato place few steps away that are both on the top lists of places to go to for food. You can also get a panini here too!

Holy chapel of meats! On our last day in Italy, my husband and I decided to stop into La Prosciuterria based on the Unilocal reviews. ITWASNOT A MISTAKE. The prices were absolutely fabulous. We paid a total of 34 Euro for an enormous platter of meats, cheeses, and breads along with 2 glasses of wine each. The service was nice and worked with us even though we don’t speak Italian. The food was absolutely spectacular. Although I didn’t know what all I was eating, I enjoyed in thoroughly. There was a mixture of tourists and locals dining in here and my only regret is that I wasn’t hungry enough to have a sandwich as well. In my opinion, this is a must try restaurant in Florence!

Location: On Via dei Neri, not too far from the Uffizi. Food: the specialty here is prosciutto and various forms of ham. The menu is pretty varied and also offers polpette and soup, among other things. I let the cool dude behind the counter decide what he was going to give me and man, I did not regret it! We went for prosciutto and a Gorgonzola spread on a round panini. OMG. This had to be the best, most flavourful sandwich EVER. I definitely plan to go back if I have the time. You can also get wine or beer to accompany your meal, and there’s a tap in the middle of the place where you can get free water. Service: Excellent! Vibe: Authentic Italiano with traditional music in the background and a guy who seems to love his job. Price point: 4.50 € gets you a huge sandwich.
