Great local trattoria. Standard fair with a few nice surprises in the form of specials.

After an early start walking the streets and enjoying the sights of Florence we had worked up an appetite for lunch. A Unilocal search revealed Trattoria Pallottino. The reviews and ratings are wholly accurate and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the friendliness of the wait staff(and chef) who managed to photo-bomb our family portrait(much to our delight). We started with the Arugula salad with walnuts, and Zucchini flowers and whilst there was nothing entirely special about either dish, they were great to take the edge off our hunger so we could enjoy the specials of the day. For secondi we ordered the Ravioli which was fantastic and the sauce was very fresh and tasty. My wife ordered the Carpacchio di Melanzome which I was quite jealous of. Hard to believe you can make a meal out of this, but it was a hit for sure. The kids left satisfied respectively with the pork steak and beef steak. On a final note, we believe that this place also offered some of the best value for money … we’re absolutely creatures of habit and will probably find an excuse to come here again during our stay in Florence.

Great food. The pasta our table had all was good; the bruschetta was probably the best I’ve ever had. Comfortable inside, very reasonable prices, great tasting food, large portions, cheap local wine, and right next door to some great gelato. What’s not to love?

Delicious home made Italian food. This is the perfect little hole in the wall quaint restaurant that you have to experience once in Florence. I ordered spaghetti w spicy tomato sauce and it was so flavorful. Loved that they topped with arugula for some freshness. Highly recommend this place If you crave so pure fresh delicious Italian food.

Great flavors, reasonable price. Although we were not too impressed with the white bean on toast appetizer(the beans should have been marinated) we loved the spaghetti with spicy sauce, the Gorgonzola gnocchi with arugula, and the eggplant parmigiana. The bread seemed to have no salt, but the local olive oil and a little salt and fresh ground pepper took care of that problem.

The very first time I stopped in to make reservations, I was greeted like a friend. By my third meal there(yes, the food is that good!) I felt like family. Stefan and Stefania, the brother and sister dynamic duo who were our servers on respective nights, were friendly, helpful and completely understandable, despite our language barrier. Menus are in both English and Italian, so there are no worries about ordering. And the food is glorious — fresh and delicious. When I ordered some spinach to go with my bistecca, Stefania steered me to the local delicacy, Florentine black cabbage, instead — what a discovery, and the perfect thing to go with the roasted potatoes and expertly cooked steak. The wine list has lots of choices and is completely reasonable, so indulge! The steak dinner for two along with appetizers, wine and a shared desert was well under 100 euros — unbelievable for this quality. No photos, alas — the food looked and smelled so good, that I dove right in, forgetting to take a picture! If you’re in the S. Croce area, this is the place to go for dinner.

My wife and I checked it out on our first evening in Florence. The food was good. I ordered the Wild Boar Pappardelle. The pasta was slightly undercooked to the way I like it but the flavors were definitely there. My wife ordered a salad and she enjoyed it very much. The service was good although they did seem very busy.

The food was amazing. Delicious!!! The ambience is perfect for who is looking for a ‘vera trattoria italiana’. The negative point was the service. But is ok, the truth is that every tipical italian restaurant with italian staff act as you are in their houses not in a restaurant.

Average pasta, average food. Also forgot our order. The fresh chips and peas were good, though. The sauce was okay(we had the wild boar pappardelle special), but the pasta really didn’t seem like it was prepared properly, the texture had no bite at all to it, and had bubbles on the surface.

After reading many Unilocal reviews, I chose this spot for my husband and I on our second night in Florence. We then promptly returned the night after because the food and the service was just phenomenal. On the first night my husband had pasta with wild boar ragu, and I had the spaghetti carbonara. Absolutely to die for – seriously. The carbonara was so rich and fresh! On the second night my husband had a steak(not the giant one, but that one looked absolutely perfect) and I had his wild boar pasta from the first night. Our favorite part, however, was the ambience; we loved our server – a wonderfully enthusiastic and compassionate Italian woman who made you feel comfortable and welcome. This differed greatly from the other restaurant experiences we had that ranged from waiters who were rude and/or indifferent and waiters who were gratuitously welcoming and aiming for the up-sell at all opportunities. This spot, conversely, is warm and genuine. Don’t hesitate – go there, now.

This restaurant was really close to our Airbnb! Good restaurant but I wish they had more fresh pasta options. Sauces were good. Better if you grab a seat on the patio. Oh and dessert next door at Vivoli gelato works out well(= FOOD Spaghetti(3.5 stars): Fresh tomato sauce was so good! Wish the spaghetti was fresh. Wild boar Pappardelle(3 stars): First time trying wild boar. The sauce and meat was sweet. Not a big fan of a sweet sauce with my pasta, but everything was cooked well. Bruschetta(3.5 stars): I love you tomatoes in Italy! Florence bread isn’t salted, so the bruschetta helps with that(= SERVICE(5 stars) They don’t know much English but they are really nice and try! They understood our attempt at Italian at least, haha. ATMOSPHERE Small little patio with a few outdoor seats, gets filled quick. Inside is bigger but wish I could have gotten a seat outside!

I had a truly incredible meal here last night, the best I’ve had in my two weeks in Florence. I absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, Tuscan meal. We ordered the house wine for the table — a half liter of red and a half liter of white. They weren’t the best house wines I’ve had, but it was only 12 € for our whole table of six to drink two glasses of wine(2 € each, just in case), so I’d say it was worth it. They also have a large selection of other wines at seemingly decent prices if you’re into it. My starter was a tomato bruschetta. It was only 5 €, but I got three huge pieces of toasted Italian bread towering with perfectly spiced diced tomatoes. For my main meal, I got the peposo, which is Tuscan beef stew. I had expected some vegetables with it, but it was just chunks of meat in a sauce over a piece of bread. However, this meat was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I really recommend it. Obviously, the whole time, we were being served bread and left completely full. For wine, water(because they always charge you for it in Italy), a starter, and a full meal, it was 24 €, and you could definitely get away with doing it cheaper. I tried all of my friends’ dishes around the table and they were really delicious as well. It’s less touristy than most other places in Florence. The staff hardly spoke English(there was a lot of pointing), which was so refreshing. I’ve started to think this city is just made for Americans, but this dinner really helped me realize how great Tuscan food and the dining experience could be. Go!

Completely average food; below average if you consider that you’re in Italy. Décor is as if you were eating in an Italian restaurant from the 40’s with handmade furniture. I would almost label the food here as «cafeteria style» because it was so bland. Waiter was a really nice guy, but one in our party only received her pasta dish 20 minutes after all of us had received ours. In Italy, dishes come when they’re ready, but 20 minutes is ridiculous. Plenty of better options in Firenze.

Don’t bother coming here. The good stuff are on their daily menu and it changes everyday. Took a long taxi ride here and found out that the pork ribs are not available. Just not worth your visit.

It is a very nice trattoria, with a small lovely terrace on a calm street: it is very pleasant to have lunch outside. The people here are really nice and welcoming and the atmosphere is really family-like. It has a home-like flavor, which i really liked. Food is served in plates that you could have at home, not the standard white plates you find in a restaurant. So for me it is the perfect spot to go on a Sunday if you are far from home but want to feel like having a Sunday family lunch. The food was good even though the pastas were a bit salty for my taste I must say. The friend polenta was really delicious: do taste it! The two dishes of pasta we had after were also good and generously served: al ragu and gnocchis with some calamari.

This place is great! We are there on Sunday for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant at 8pm and didn’t have to wait for table. If you wanted to sit outside you do have to make a reservation ! They have a menu and a daily menu! I ordered the pappardelle pasta with pork sauce and it was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the meat lasagne and I tastes it and it’s the best I’ve had and my boyfriend said every bite is delicious! Place was starting to fill up and by the time we left people were waiting in line to get seated! I would definitely go back there when I come back to Florence! We also order half a carafe of their house red and it was pretty good for 6 euros !

Great Tuscan dinner! We came at 7:30pm on Thursday when they first start dinner service. We did not have a reservation and got seated right away. People slowly trickled in after that and by the time we finished dinner and left, a line was starting to form. They have both an Italian menu and English menu. The specials are written by hand. We very much enjoyed the assortment of crostini. There were 4 types: tomato, white bean, olive oil, and pâté. Probably the favorite of the night was the ribollita soup. Very thick and hearty veggie soup with bits of bread(I think). Very good. The«marinated vegetables» dish is more or less just grilled eggplant, bell pepper, and zucchini drizzled with olive oil. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with a title like«marinated vegetables,» but now you know. Now the main event was the Florentine steak. The two of us could barely finish the 1kg steak! Not when we had all those other dishes! Loved that char and sear on the outside. The meat close to the bone and center was very, very rare. They don’t ask you how you like it cooked, it just comes out that way. So I’m guessing it’s safe to say that Florentine steaks in their traditional form is very rare in the middle? All that food plus wine came out to be 70 Euros. They take credit card.

This place has great reviews and it deserves them! The tomato bruschetta was very fresh and good(3 pieces = 4 €). I had the spinach and cheese lasagna, it was very tasty. I was surprised it didn’t have any tomato sauce, just cheese, and puréed spinach. My girlfriend got the meat lasagna and said it was some of the best she’s ever had. She gave it 9/10, and she has discriminating taste! The bottled water they have is the best I’ve had in Italy(it’s the little things, haha)
