Very good East African vegetarian food. A huge variety of vegetarian options and everything tastes very good in spite of the reheating process. The restaurant is very rustic, but the food is quite good and customer service is very friendly. It could be wise to reserve since it is quite popular among locals.

I was in Milan for just a few days, but wasn’t in the mood for heavy Italian food. I visited Alhambra one evening for dinner and was so blown away I had to go back the next day for lunch! The café is buffet styled, and you pay per gram. They have a whole assortment of pre made hot foods including: falafels, garbanzo bean and spinach salad, roasted veggies, tofu dishes, seitan dishes, cooked veggies, and even vegan lasagnas. I LOVED the brown bread and hummus they had here. If you sit down and eat, they serve hot tea with your meal free of charge. Price is pretty standard for a casual meal, I paid between 9 and 12 euros for my plates of food.(Also a tip for you bread lovers: You can buy their home made brown bread, you just have to order a day in advanced!)

Inexpensive food. I never thought I would be so happy to see a vegan place full of yoga posters and yin yang décor. Food is by weight but reheated, so it’s not ultra fresh, but has about 1000 times more fiber than the average Italian meal. They use seasonings that are a little odd(caraway tasting), but it’s good value for money. My only complaint is that their plates are disposable. There is no wifi.

This vegetarian restaurant sells their food by the kg. one pretty full plate would be about 7 – 10 euros depending on what you are picking. They are sooo nice and sweet here! The food is simple home-style cooking and quite yummy. It is a nice change from eating out on our trip.

Alhambra is a great little restaurant in Milan that serves vegan food, by weight. Their style of service was a bit confusing, but ended up working out. They opened at 8pm, and we basically showed up immediately since we were starving and hadn’t eaten since Trieste that morning. We were seated and ordered wine. After about 10 minutes of sitting, we were brought a small scoop each of a broccoli dish that was really tasty. Then another 10 minutes go by and we are told we can order. We head to the counter and pick the items we want(aka, lots of chickpeas, spinach, potatoes, cauliflower, etc) and they heated it up. We sat back down and it ws brought to us when it was warmed. We ate a lot of food and largely were happy. All the other tables received complimentary bread but we had not, so finally halfway through the meal I was able to track down a server and get bread from him. It was pretty expensive for almost self service and vegetarian food(30 euros for 2 people) but I would go back if in Milan again.
