Gelato Giusto is overall pretty good, but I’d say relatively average compared to the other gelato places out there. I thought this place would blow my mind away after seeing an incredibly high Foursquare rating, and especially after riding the high of having Il Massimo del Gelato, which gave me incredibly high hopes for all Milan gelatos! However, in the end it was just ok. There aren’t a lot of chocolate-esque flavors. The few that it had were sprinkled with subpar Hershey’s-like chocolate chips so I strayed away from them. Instead I tried flavors I usually don’t do, going with hazelnut and almond + raspberry. The ice cream was straight, creamy gelato, which I’ve started to appreciate actually(I usually like texture-filled, crunchy nuts!), but nothing mind blowing. Also, I had seen pictures of this place selling nutty products that I wanted to try(like a pistachio bar topped with hazelnuts and almonds) but they didn’t have anything like that at all, and said they only offered it during the winter. Eh… I think overall I just had way too high expectations going in or something…

The owner of the restaurant company I work for in America brought me to Italy for five days to research authentic Italian gelato. Over the course of those five days, we sampled gelato from over 25 different Milanese gelato producers. Both my employer and myself were in agreement that Gelato Giusto served the gelato that stood out as better than any others. This gelato is as flavorful as Grom or Il Massimo but without the super-heavy richness or the overly-powerful sugar content that detracts from Grom or Il Massimo. This restaurant is not on a main street and the name is not very well-known yet, but it will be!
