Here, we encountered the most anti-American sentiment I have ever encountered in Europe. Upon arriving we were seated and later greeted by a waitress. We ordered in Italian and she sneered at us a little for our imperfect Italian, which was fine enough because experiencing that is not too uncommon. Though, 40 minutes passes and we have not received our food when everyone who was seated after us has and we could not flag down our waitress. Eventually, we were able to get the attention of another waitress who sent ours over, but when we finally spoke to her she completely brushed us off. Another 15 minutes later, we got our food but it was cold, but at this point we were so hungry that we ate it without complaint. Trying to pay the check, we couldn’t get her attention again but another waiter saw us and told her to bring us the check, which in front of us, she refused to do. Not knowing what to do we went inside to pay. Once we got inside, my mother realized she had dropped her scarf at the table so I went back outside to check. Our waitress was there but the scarf wasn’t, but the strange thing was the look she gave me before rushing inside. When I went inside to tell my mom I couldn’t find it, she told me she had just seen our waitress rushing past with it in her hand. Trying to be polite, my mom stopped her when she passed again and told her she had lost her scarf and asked if she had seen it, only to have the waitress roll her eyes and brush her off. When she passed again, I confronted her about what my mom had seen and the waitress immediately began screaming at me and threatened to call the police. She continued screaming until a manager stepped in, pulled her aside before coming back with the scarf. In short, at this restaurant, we waited 40 minutes to be served, were served cold food, and my mom almost got her scarf stolen by our waitress, who screamed in my face she that was going to have me arrested. Thankfully, the manager stepped in and made things right, but the experience was too insane and threatening to recommend.
