I needed a drink after a day’s worth of walking around Milan so I went to the terrace bar called Il Bar. This place is part of a «food court» at one of the fancy department store across the duomo. I surprisingly just waited for 5 minutes to get a table… Prime location cause their terrace overlooks the Duomo. There’s loads of cocktails, champaign, and wine selection. I ordered a drink called Lord Cucumber… Figured it would be light and refreshing. As I waited for the drink they gave me a small dish of snacks– chips, small ham sandwich, and olives. The drink was a nice green hue colour… The flavour was delicate but strong. It had a nice fresh distinct smell of melon from the Midori. You can really taste the cucumber but the drink has a clean refreshing end attributed to the cucumber. The drink was strong so you definitely know they put a good serving of Johnny walker. Overall the drink was good… Pricey for € 15 but I guess I paid for the trendy location, view of the Duomo, and the snacks. This place is pretty trendy, relaxing, and a good place to lounge after strolling around Milan. Not a place I’d hang out in if I lived in the city but as a tourist this is a great place(and if you’re willing to spend some €€€ for a cocktail). A few feet away you can buy more pricey food and chocolate to take back home.

Awesome view(which is the only reason I have two stars instead of one) but food tasted like a high school cafeteria — definitely disappointing. Despite the awesome view we won’t be back here to eat again. Good for stopping in for drinks and a picture but that’s about it. Food sucked :(

The view from this terrace bar is absolutely incredible! You overlook the beautiful duomo and the bustling streets of Milan. The atmosphere was amazing and relaxed — there was no rush for us to finish eating at all. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers. The Caprese salad was extremely fresh and delicious! My one complaint was that smoking was allowed, but as it is Europe it is to be expected. Overall a beautiful experience! Good food, good atmosphere, and a great view of Milan.

Massive, trendy and very modern mall with a variety of high-end clothing/accessories departments. We came in to have lunch before heading inside the Duomo. The top floor houses a few cafes, restaurants and a food market area. The two restaurants with the rooftop dining offers fantastic views of the cathedral. The outdoor areas were crowded and there were 15 – 20 min wait times for tables — even for drinks. The air reeked of cigarettes too, so take note of that. We decided to go inside to Maio to have lunch. Surprisingly we were seated right away and the views were still present from inside. We enjoyed glasses of prosecco and moscato with their tasty bread before receiving our food. The food was fantastic and what I liked most is that you can see the chefs hard at work in the kitchen through the glass windows. Every dish we had at the table was tasty. I had the meat tortellini in sage butter sauce with their«beef sauce» poured over. Delicious! For dessert, we demolished a tasty coffee tiramisu in a champagne flute. The prices were up there but everything was great. 5 stars for Maio alone!

Food market and several restaurants ranging from mozzarella bar to steakhouse to sushi and salad bar … a very similar concept to harvey nichols last floor in London. My suggestion for the International traveler goes to the obika mozzarella bar which is both indoor and outdoor … sitting in the roof garden tasting some excellent mozzarella and a glass of wine with the view of the top of the Duomo is really something you should not miss if you are in Milan Not the cheapest place in town but not too much espensive either(approx 20 – 25 euros for food and a glass of good wine at obika).

First trip to Milan and it’s a sunny day? Then a leisurely breakfast, lunch, tea, or aperitivo high at La Rinascente’s rooftop bar is something you should definitely try to fit in to your itinerary. Milan has a lot of beautiful places and places to feel beautiful, but downtown in the heart of shopping sometimes it’s best to be high up where the view is one-of-a-kind and the service is spot on. And what a view… sipping a beer or a spritz across the streets from the spires of Milan’s Duomo… is priceless. Which brings me to the prices. Coffee-based drinks at between 3 and 6 euros. Pricy by most standards in Italy but for those of you that regularly shell out 5 bucks for a latte at home, remember you are on THIS rooftop. How much would it be at the restaurant at the high end department store at home? At the two bars the menu is international wit a distinct Italian touch. The Cesar Salad is tasty and filling, the other salads often have excellent Italian ingredients(blu di Buffalo, for example). They also have pasta, soups and more. A lunch plate, simple drink, and espresso will probably set you back about 20 € a person. But with THAT view. As you relax far from the maddening crowd.

after doing some damage around Duomo and buying stuff from laRinascente my friends and I went to the top and sat down to enjoy a drink. I love the view from here. Milano’s Duomo is beautiful. if you order a martini they bring you a plate of snacks. i ordered tea and it came with biscuits. the place is pricey but what do you expect, it’s laRinascente! the martini cost 15 euros and the tea cost 8 euros.

Part of this is taken from my review of La Rinascente. The top floor has food, a café, a few restaurants and bar. It also has a patio which overlooks the Cathedral and the square that it’s in. It’s a fantastic view and a great place to kick back and relax if you’ve been in the heat to long. The prices are slightly higher than the bars and cafes in the area but it usually isn’t as busy as street level so it’s nice to get away from the crowd. If you arrive during aperitivo which is pre dinner or after dinner you will be served with a small plate of some chicken, olives and chips.
