We stopped by this cute café the day we arrived in Milan for a caffeine and sweets fix before our dinner. We were greeted by a friendly man who spoke English well and seated us at a table. After placing our orders, I glanced over and discovered 3, tall, macho, good-looking men working behind the counter, taking orders, making coffee, etc. I’m not sure if they are there daily but ladies should stop by for something, even if it’s to use their restroom, just to witness this! Back to the point. I ordered a cappuccino and we shared a chocolate tart. My cappuccino was good but it wasn’t hot for some reason … possibly my milk wasn’t heated enough, or did the man who make it feel as though the heat emitting from him alone was enough :)? The tart was decent also, but not amazingly good … Perhaps bc the male who served us it felt that he was good enough? Lol, jokes aside, Pave is a cozy café worth your visit. Check it out!

Great place for sweet pastries and awesomely brewed coffee. This time I got a Hibiscus and an espresso, and I enjoyed both. Service is fast and nice, the place is modern and a little hip(but not too much). Prices are average for Milan.

Hard to find café(half the appeal, right!?), deliciously fresh pastries, espressos on point and the most delightful and helpful staff. Top 3 in Milano.

I like the raspberries tart, had it for breakfast. As I’m short on time, I didn’t have any coffee. I hope I get to have breakfast there in 8 hours time :)

When I came here for a mid-afternoon coffee and cake, the kitchen was closing and I couldn’t order the rest of the items in the menu. I ordered a pastry that was similar to a Danish pastry filled with a sweet cream and an espresso. I didn’t want anything super heavy or complicated. The pastry was cloyingly sweet but the espresso was perfect. Took a look at the menu and there were salads and paninis on there. It looks like a decent lunch spot. The décor and vibe of the place is certainly cute. Prices weren’t that cheap for some of the food offerings though compared to the rest of Milan but it isn’t expensive either.

Love this place but why don’t they have cheesecakes? Cheesecakes are getting incredibly popular in Milano so I bet they can make a pretty good one! The place is super cozy and you feel just like at home on your living room, you can enjoy some nice pastries and a coffee while reading newspapers in the morning. This place is unique and it doesn’t have that much competition around. All the places nearby are the usual boring cheap dates coffee places with the same boring croissant and espresso. Pavè brings some fresh air to the breakfast scene by providing a nice location, welcoming stuff and awesome pastries/coffee/bakery. Gonna be going back pretty often! Remember to make a cheesecake next time ;)

I came here last year(back in November of 2014) when I was only in Milan for less than a day. I had just arrived all the way from the states and my train was cancelled due to a strike. So I stored my luggage and decided to make the best of my «layover» in the city. The first place I found on Unilocal within a reasonable distance was Pave! Once I got here it was the first time I had relaxed in over 36 hours and it was the perfect place to do so. I loved the ATMOSPHERE! Beautifully relaxing and full of friendly people of all types. It was cozy enough for me to feel comfortable settling in for a bit while I got my bearings and planned my unexpected day in Milan. I was lucky that the friendly people behind the counter spoke a bit of English too which was also comforting at the time. The FOOD was delicious! I love the natural juice and my panini was perfectly cooked and executed. I was really excited for this to be my first meal on this 3 week trip to Italy. My food was my favorite part of my whole trip — all over Italy — and I was really happy that this panini sandwich at Pave started it off right. I would definitely suggest coming here if you’ve got extra time in Milan. It’s the perfect place in the city for a delicious panini, it’s off the beaten path but so welcoming and friendly!

Nice coffeeshop but very hard to find. Its a small shop in het buenos aires area with nice coffee a hipster vibe and the most delicious patisserie. I’ve had the pistacio tart and it was very good. The interior is very basic and the prices are okay. Good place to meet with a friend for a long conversation ;)

Such a cute café! I had the ham and cheese brioche salata and the raspberry jam la rossa which were amazing! A must have! Everything looks great and I wanted to try everything. The service was nice and the waiters made it cozy like you’re home. Their little cakes and tarts look amazing! This is a must visit place if you’re ever in Milan.

We ordered a cappucino and latte, the latte with coffee. I haven’t had a decent cup of coffee since we’ve been in Europe and it may have saved my life. Café has trendy décor and big comfy armchairs. Great place to hang out and have coffee and cake

Caffè e buono My favorite café! Great coffee shop with excellent pastries! Love their mini cakes/tarts and I plan to get fat by trying each and everyone of them! So far– I’ve especially liked the fruit ones(strawberry and raspberry). Their sweets are just perfect with a cappuccio. They have something called nonna’s bread that looks great to snack on. I’ll also have to come back for their sandwiches!

Pretty, pretty good… Nice atmosphere, nice staff. I guess, for Milan, the coffee, is slightly more expensive than elsewhere. We tried some pastries and they were really good. Very light in the texture — actually almost too light if you are hungry. The sandwiches there are great — and that is mainly, but not exclusively because of the delicious bread, which tasted like it was made with sourdough, and had a super texture. Two slices came toasted and between them was pea purée, red beets and almonds — tasty and healthy stuff. The only thing I missed there was the possibility of getting something that contains eggs when you’re there for brunch.

I liked Pavé more than I expected. After all the reviews, articles, blogs and even the New York Times talked about it, I was expecting what I call the typical«Milanese Trap»: a nicely decorated place, filled with fancy Milanese people, high prices, mini portions and anonymous ingredients, but everyone goes there because it’s hot/famous right now… Well, not Pavé: it’s nicely decorated in that fake-shabby style that I adore, it’s filled with all kinds of people, from the fancy ones to the hipsters, they have mini-portions, yes, but of really good looking cakes and sweets — but they also have other normal cakes, bread and bakery products and the ingredients don’t feel anonymous but good quality. Prices are average for the center of Milan(in my opinion all prices are high in the city center, but at least here staff is nice, drinks are good and the place is cute). The only thing I didn’t like was the extra charge of 1 euro for my cocktail: aperitivo cocktails are 5 euro, but they charge you an extra 1 euro for the«service», what’s the service? Maybe the mini bowl of chips? or the 3 olives? or the 4 pistacchio nuts? or maybe now we have to pay 1 € extra to get kind waiters? I don’t know… I mean, 6 euros for a very nice cocktail are OK, again, especially in the city center, but why not charge directly 6 euros instead of 5+1 and leave me wondering what’s this«service charge» for?(there’s no bread basket, no forks, not even tablecloths to wash so, what is it??) I will come back, of course, for breakfast or to buy some bread or pastries, and also for a good Pimm’s cocktail.

Today was my third meal at Pavè, and I can happily tell everyone everything is really delicious and worthier the trip whatever you are in Milan! They just got highlighted on the New York Times 35 hours in Milan. The place is cozy, homie, and hipster in a good fine way. My first impression was to be in a Brooklyn style bakery, but as soon as you look around you will get the sense of the real Milano. Young guys and ladies serves you with a polite and kind international mood, the packaging and branding is designed in a wonderful mix of colors and fonts, and the bakery and pastries on the bar are impressively beautiful. I tried salads, sandwiches, tarts, tea, wines and coffee and everything was really good. You have the feeling at Pavè they really look for good high quality ingredients. Highly suggested for breakfast, lunch and brunch, and afternoon tea. Can’t wait to find an occasion to go back!

Open letter to Pave’. So far I’m not impressed with Pave’, also if I’ve been here more than three times. I can’t help but wonder why they changed so quickly the spirit the place was born with. Getting popular does authomatically mean you need to change attitude? Maybe. I’m not talking about the quality, that is always good. Just thinking about the small cakes, awesome. During my last visit with friends I paid more than 2 euros for a kipfel, sort of an almond croissant, good but not unforgettable. What I did not appreciate is the fact that all of my friends and I got charged at the register of 1 euro just for the table service. Is it a joke? Aren’t the prices high enough to include the service? After all we are not in the USA and Pave’ doesn’t look like the kind of old style italian café where you get charged for a table service, not for lunch but for a coffee and a croissant. The staff has been very nice during the last visit when I was sitting at a communal table downstairs, bad, slow and unattentive in the previous one when I was sitting upstairs. Sitting upstairs looks like somebody will forget about your presence soon. The place still looks cozy, they have american brewed coffee(rare in town) and still deserves more than one visit, but paying so much and being charged 1 more additional euro for the service made me become reluctant and change my mind. If you guys at Pave change your mind and decide to take the service off at least for afternoon coffee I will be back, I promise. After all you got so popular, and have so many people visiting, that you really need to charge so much? #Thanks#

I went to Pavé for the first time this Saturday and was there for about 1 hour from 11:30 — 12:45. Originally I was seeking out a place to do some work and linger a couple of hours, and I thought this was the place since they have free Wifi(a commodity in Milan at cafes!) and their menu states that they may«ask you to move during the lunch hour to make room for other guests» so I(incorrectly) thought that was an indirect way of saying that they invited you to spend a couple of hours here if you wanted. So I set out with my laptop in tow to check it out When I arrived, it was really busy, and there was a line out the door. The café itself has two floors, but it’s still pretty compact. The waiter at the door was controlling the queue to enter the café and he offered me a table upstairs after waiting only a minute. As the website mentioned, it is communal seating, but I don’t think this concept has really caught on here, since I was sharing a 5-person table with three people on the other end(a girl and her parents?), and I saw them curiously glancing over at me often, and I even felt a bit intrusive. Once I sat down, the waitress immediately came over and she was very nice and helpful. My mobile battery was almost dead, but I had chosen the seat upstairs strategically because I had seen an electrical outlet, I plug it in, then I see it doesn’t work! I confirmed with the waitress that the outlet didn’t work, and she offered to charge my phone in the kitchen(very nice of her). So I had a cappuccino(very good and perfect foam — one of the best I’ve had in Milan) and pain chocolate, and then I switched tables eventually once it got a little less noisy and calm inside and went downstairs. When I got downstairs and picked a table(again communal seating style), I encroached on a table with a couple(?) already sitting at the corner of it and I took a spot in front of one of them and again awkward stares(maybe chocolate on my face?!). I ordered a green tea, which I really liked, large serving for 4 €. The people around me had some desserts and breads that looked really good… topped with fruit, some whipped cream, macchiato, etc, that I wish I would have tried. I give Pavé 3 stars for the quality of its food and customer service. I would give it 4 stars if they had electrical outlets that actually worked. My reasoning for this statement? First, why offer free Wifi if you aren’t also going to give your customers a place to charge their devices? It will probably make a lot of people who are attending the World Expo pretty angry if they stumble upon your café during a break to recharge their iPhone etc and sit inside and discover there are electrical outlets in plain view that don’t work. Second, it’s also kind of an unspoken rule in Europe that as long as you’re sitting at a café table, you should continue to order things and spend money. My suggestion is for you to write«We are happy to offer you unlimited Wifi and electricity, but ask only if you are seated at a table that you continue to order items out of respect for our other patrons» on your menu, just like you wrote that you will ask us to move over during the lunch hour to make space on the tables when it’s busy. Then you can have your waitstaff monitor people who are not ordering and enforce the rule by subtly placing the bill at the attention of the guest who is not ordering anything but continuing to use up electricity. You don’t want customers spending hours in your café? Well, that doesn’t make sense at all since a café full of people attracts new customers walking making it seem popular instead of empty. Also, the reason that businesses in United States for example don’t offer electrical outlets is because they in fact don’t want customers staying forever inside the restaurant/business because they have a turn-and-burn mentality which means get as many customers in and out of the door as fast as possible to get a higher profit. However, in Italy this concept doesn’t work because your waiters don’t even put the bill down on the table unless we ask for it first. Third, it’s good business sense that if you give your customers free Wifi AND a place to charge their devices, yes you will increase your electricity cost, but you will simultaneously increase your revenues with more orders from long-stay guests and repeat visits by guests in the future. Doesn’t this make more sense strategically in the long run for your business? Fourth, in Italy, it is not the culture to haul your laptop and tablets into a café to spend hours working away; typically people in Italy come to cafes with friends etc and anyway they still spend hours at the tables talking. So why not appease this minority of people who actually want to do work at your café and give them access to the electrical outlets? This café gives the appearance that it is forward-thinking, hipster etc with it’s industrial chic vibe, but no electrical outlets? Come on, Pave, you can do better

Even though this place is out of my way I try to come as much as I can. They have a magical hand for artisan pastries made right here behind their glass«lab»; they have large variety of pastries and I wish they made panettone(a Christmas fluffy bread) all year long. It’s very hipster looking but you will find people of all ages which is nice. I love the decorations, it’s very cozy and everyone is polite and friendly. If you come during the Christmas holiday don’t leave without trying the panettone, trust me. I usually get a cappuccino, today I had a latte macchiato.

Hipster vibe but very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food and desserts. Since we were headed to the airport, we only had a cheese plate and dessert at the restaurant and took a couple of panini to go. The tonka(dessert) was amazing and even though we ate the sandwiches after they’d already gotten cold, they were still quite good.

This place is real good. I like great coffee, which is hard to find in Italy. I know they’re famous for their espresso and cappuccinos, but if you like your coffee a little less tar like or overflowing with grim foam and chocolate, then it’s tricky finding anywhere good. This place is really good, amazing pastries and sandwiches as well. Win.

Delicious breakfast and lunch! Wonderful prices, cute atmosphere and incredible food. The service is a bit spotty and it can get very crowded so go early if possible. Service is better when sitting downstairs also. We had an incredible Satirday lunch before our walking tour including bubbly and savory, warm, creative sandwiches!
