The views are amazing if you can get a seat at a table facing the ocean but the food is overpriced and the staff is extremely unfriendly and downright RUDE. My husband and I were just seated and barely finished placing our order(s) when the couple next to us left. When we asked if we could move to their table so we could be closer to the view the waiter said NO! We hadn’t even gotten our bread or drinks yet. I thought he misunderstood me so I asked him again and he said the owner doesn’t like guests to move after they’re seated, so NO! He spoke to us like we were juvenile delinquents or criminals. Needless to say, we felt like we were being reprimanded. Even the couple at the next table noticed it and were shocked by his unprofessional demeanor. My husband was so upset he wanted to leave, but I told him we should just let it go and stay(especially since we had already ordered our food). I was really disappointed because our experience at other restaurants close by were so great we were hoping it would be the same here, but unfortunately all we got was mediocre, overpriced food, with bad service from a mean grumpy waiter. There are plenty of restaurants down the street with much better service, tastier food, all at more reasonable prices. Would definitely NOT recommend this place.

Great 5 star location. Food is 3 star but you come to have a break and spend time admiring the view. We had pasta and the tuna tartare. Most dishes were over salted. Again you come for the view. Understaffed and quite busy.

Walk right on by, there are plenty of better places with better food at lower prices. You pay for the view here and the views are plentiful all over Positano. A small beer Shandy was 10 euros, it should have been no more than 5. Skip this place.

Excellent view of Positano and the sea! Order the specialties of the restaurant(mussels in sauce appetizer and the fish acqua pazza) and you will not be disappointed. The staff are friendly, attentive, and aim to please. Prices are slightly above average, but overall worth it.

Must haves: get the«fresh home made pasta» with the lobster. The fresh pasta option will only say with crab on the menu, but if your a lobster person like me, then request the fresh pasta with lobster. Its $ 25 and its top notch. I promise you. I also thought the veal sorrentina was really good.- along with the fresh raviolis w/ricotta and spinach in a tomato sauce– again, very good Half bottle of the house red was solid — the waiters werent the friendliest however but the food overshadowed. –also, opt for the seating downstairs, off the street. It over looks the water and your away from all the shitty car fumes. That street side table scene where the cars brush by you 3 feet from you while you inhale its harsh fumes to go with a sip of your wine is getting old quick here in positano

Food was totally crap. Fish of the day and shrimp were definitely not fresh and most likely frozen. Service was ok at best. Worst place I ate while in Positano. View was nice but that’s just Positano. Skip this place.

The wait staff could be a tad bit friendlier, and the food was amazing. Try the lasagna. Great view. the spaghetti zucchini was amazing.

The view is the main reason to eat at this restaurant. The food is just ok in comparison to other restaurants close by but still charges the same amount. I felt like the quality for the price were not close at all(quality being ok and price being high) I had their pasta with shrimp, cherry tomatoes and arugula. This meal lacked a lot of flavor and was subpar, especially for Positano standards. That being said. I did hear that the gelato and breakfasts were good here. But after my meal I had no desire to go back and find out. Nothing bad to say about the staff. The food was just lack luster.

Yes, the view is amazing. The food is fresh and good, but not mind blowing. For lunch I had a house red wine and the gnocchi sorrento(similar to a vodka sauce). The bolognese was served in a fresh tomato sauce and quite tasty. Perfect place to grab a drink and lunch.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. We ate dinner at Caffe Pasitano for a special fixed dinner evening of 6 courses. After the first 2 courses, the staff completely fell apart. The wait between courses 2 and 3 was 90 minutes with no fewer than 8 members of staff walking by to look at our table to check where we were in the order,(but never offering any details or inquiring about drinks). We really tried to make the most of it– deciding we’d order more wine and enjoy the nice night, but had a hard time getting anyones attention to do this. Tables around us were having the same experience. This was organised as a special theme night by the restaurant, a nice idea, however it was disappointing the staff were not prepared for the evening. Other reviews are correct– the view is wonderful, and the food was good, but for the price we paid and experience we received, it was a terribly poor experience.

Came here for lunch. The view is amazing and luckily if you can get a seat near the rail, you’ll be looking out over positano the entire meal. I ordered a pasta carbonara which was delicious. I would have liked some peas in it but I wasn’t left disappointed. My wife spaghetti in a bologna sauce. The meaty tomato sauce really hit the spot. Bread basket offered three types of bread while we waited and the server spoke excellent English. Check it out for dinner or lunch.

Don’t get sucked into the tourist traps like Buca de Bacca down on the beach(garbage) walk up the hill for better food. CP gave us an unforgettable evening. I made b-day reservations for my wife one day in advance with the very nice and funny hostess. They put together an amazing evening. We had a beautiful private table overlooking Positano with fresh cut flowers on the table. The proscuitto and mozzarella was the best we had on our entire trip. The main courses were very good. I would say 8.5 to 9 out of 10(but I’m very particular). They finished off with a great birthday song along with a sparkler in the dessert. Amazing evening! If you go to Positano the is a must stop at very reasonable price. (ps– their gellatto is also outstanding. limited flavors but the consistency was better then anything else we tried in town(and we tried many places)

Spectacular vistas while dining al freco. Superb line up. The baked fish was yummy and so was the baked eggplant lasagna. Service was attentive but not pushy. They also have Indoor dining if you prefer to stay out of the sun. Make sure to make room for their desserts. We didn’t so it was our loss. Overall we had a great experience.

Seriously, just come here for the views and the atmosphere of the breathtaking views, stay for some wine, maybe a few bites, and bask in the glory of being in heaven on earth. Caffe Positano is as charming as Positano itself. You won’t regret it.

Prices pretty much on par with the rest of Positano. Views from the outdoor seating are beautiful, especially at sunset. I ordered the seafood pasta, which was incredible. However, some of the other food was just alright. Definitely a place to order seafood. The service was also great; very charming crew.

* We came during lunch and sat outside across the little street for beautiful views of Positano * Service was pretty stellar(3 separate people took care of us) * They serve traditional Irish, American and Italian hot breakfasts here which is not very common in Italy and a nice change if you are looking for something else to eat for breakfast besides a croissant * My husband had the Insalata ala Pollo and I had the Spaghetti Bolognese — both were pretty good * We had homemade lemon cake and STRONG but good lemoncello for dessert! Yum! * Prices were average

Was welcomed by a sweet older man(owner) who seated us on the balcony that had the prettiest view. Great food, but had the worst service by our waiter. Not the friendliest and even left for the night and we were waiting around for our check for a solid 30 minutes. Would go back for the food and the most adorable ‘restaurant dog’ that roamed the outdoor tables

After arriving from Rome I was very pleasantly surprised that prices here and most others are more reasonable. Great view as with most. But this view is higher than most others and a life saver if your staying near the top. Only negative is really more related to the streets. Gets real noisy during commute times, ambulance drives by, etc. But a great place to lay back and enjoy the view and people.

Great view — but is there any building in Positano that has a bad view? ;). You can choose to sit right off the main street or on the patio. Both offer a very romantic setting at sunset — perfect for couples. Food was good, prices were ok. A little higher than what we had experienced other places, but not ridiculous. Our waiter was polite and served us in a timely manner. Our drinks were always replenished when we were running low, and I appreciate when a waiter is attentive like that.
