Extremely pricey. We were tired after a long day of touring both St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. We came to this restaurant after dark and it looked decent. The food, however, was not up to par with the price. € 15 spaghetti, € 12 panino with ham and cheese, € 18 pizza, € 5 cup of tea, € 6 Coke, and they added a 10% gratuity. Honestly, I’ve tasted better for a much cheaper price.

Terrible terrible, they don’t give you a menu, They have prices up but they charge extra for bringing things you didn’t order in the first place! Plus their orange juice is 8 euros!(And half of it was water!!!). Avoid this place I know it’s close to St. Peter’s but you can get better food for less almost anywhere else!

Don’t eat here. First warning we should’ve had was that there weren’t any prices on the menu. I ordered spaghetti and it had some crunchy noodles around the edges which made me think they had reheated it. Everything about this place was average and what was even more shocking was the price! That sub par plate of spaghetti was 20 € and at best should’ve only been 6 €. SOOVERPRICED. We ended up paying 100 € for our meal for two during lunch time when even some of the most incredible places we’ve dined at here in the city have not come anywhere near costing that much. Will definitely do my research the next place we visit.

Beware!!! This is where we spent the most money for food in the whole country of Italy for their ready-made food and heated by microwave. Total rip-off!!!

NEVEREVERGOTOTHISPLACE!!! We were tired and hungry after visiting St. Peter’s Basilica and they were open on a Sunday. Our first choice was the restaurant nearby with a 4 stars but they were close. The guy that looks like a joker was the one who would greet you and I asked him how much because there was nothing written on the the walls for a buffet nor a menu for prices but we thought it’s very casual atmosphere so I wouldn’t be that much. He would say you order per plate and then they will weigh and tell you the price. I ordered and then the lady didn’t give me a price and just said it will just be served on your table. First of all the food doesn’t taste good!!! The salmon I ordered is very dry and probably was heated a lot of times already and their pasta is the worst of all I’ve tasted in Italy for a whopping € 25/person. Our total bill came out to € 150 for 4 persons… Advise to this restaurant you are in a very good location treat your customers right and serve good food you will probably get customers over and over again… IFYOU’REVERYHUNGRYANDTIREDSUGGESTYOUWALKFURTHERANDFIND A BETTERPLACEWORTHMORETHANWHATYOU’LLBEPAYINGHERE!!!

Run away! Don’t go inside!!! First Look is nice, but That’s it… Toilettes are disgusting!!! If you saw that you will have a different view to this«Restaurant»(or whatever they call himself)!! if they can not clean Toilettes, whats about Kitchen??? Kitchen is just 5 Meters next… Told us self-service is same as bringing to Table and then you see the truth on the bill. Of course expensive also(Coke and Capuccino was 12.80 Euro).

AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS. We were tired and hungry with 3 kids in tow and this was the first place that we saw. Here is the modus operandi for the ripoff. First they don’t show you a menu. Then they pretend to get the order wrong and extra items you did not order. So there is a chance you may just decide to get it. The food is stale. The bread worse(they don’t offer it, you have to ask and you get it in wrappers so they can recycle the unused stale bread). and finally when the bill comes it is astronomical. 8 euros for an OJ or a beer. € 15 for an entrée. Just not something you would expect to see for the kind of food they give you or the ambience. The trick like I’d said is to not show you the menu or the prices till the very end. Can I make it any clearer? AVOIDAVOIDAVOID.

We decided to sit outside on their patio because it was such a beautiful day, and thankfully, we were able to secure a table with a roof on top to block the strong sun rays. Other than our order of sparkling water, no house bread or anything was given. We ordered two pastas. First, it was okay. Then, after few more bites, it was just too salty. Then, it was so salty that I couldn’t eat it without sipping water after every bite. By this point, I gave up trying to finish it even though I didn’t want to waste any food. After our meal, our bill came out to about 45 euros. We didn’t think too much of it back then, because we were having such a great time, but… I realized now, that this restaurant seriously rips people off not only because their food tastes bad and has mediocre service, but also because they can secretly play around with your bill if you’re not careful! Come to think about it now, two plates of pasta and a single small bottle of sparkling water shouldn’t come out to 45 euros. Even with tax. The restaurant wasn’t a fine dining experience, nor was our meal during dinner times.

We were yearning for some pastries after leaving the Vatican and came across this nice looking place. Let’s just say they put a hole in my pocket. The cannoli, and other pastries were great but when I got the bill, I was more than pissed off! For instance, the advertised price for a cannoli was 4 €. But I didn’t realize that was the«take away» price. I was not told there was a difference for sitting down. How the &@?% was I suppose to know it costs more to «sit» down? Final price for a cannoli? 12 effen €!!! A 200% markup! All in: 4 pastries that I thought would cost 12 – 15 € was 46 €!!! And on top of that, a 10% service charge!(Most Italian restaurants don’t even accept tips.) And this after seeing the server who gave us our water come out of the restroom without washing his hands. What, did I have to give a 20% tip to have him do so? The Pope should shut these guys down! Btw, we stopped at a McDs and got about 7 – 8 bakery goods, just as good. Total price? 11 €!

Yup They got me and my girlfriend. I may as well have walked out with no pants on I felt that stupid. Never again will this happen. Ask for prices, they don’t display them. I wish I could stay for another week just to boycott them, I would make sure no one walks in. Outrageous bill for the two of to eat. Karmas a bitch and I hope it finds this suckhole soon.

This is beyond a tourist trap, this place is outright predatory. Whether the food here is good or not is totally irrelevant. There are no menus and no prices to be found. What looks like an innocent café just outside the Vatican charges outrageous prices for simple service. € 8 for a cup of coffee. € 25 for a simple Spaghetti and Meatball. Figured none of this out til the bill arrived. Don’t get taken!!! My advice is to keep walking. Within a 10 minute walk of the Vatican gates will find you any number of reasonable places to rest and eat.

MAJORRIPOFF! Do not go here. My family went here and we ordered 4 coffees and 3(very mediocre) pastries, and we were charged € 70! Prices are not posted and they’re very sneaky. They don’t accept credit cards because otherwise people would dispute the charges. An absolute tourist trap. Not worth it.

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. As everyone mentions in previous posts, it’s a complete rip off. We had just finished the tour of the Vatican museum, and decided to grab some LUNCH. We saw a bunch of people sitting outside, and thought, hey, maybe this place is onto something. We should have walked away when the menu presented to us had 6 options and no prices. But nope, our stomachs got the best of us. We only groaned even more right after placing or order, because the people behind us were charged € 50 for a few beers. We were now stuck. The food was a disgrace. No flavor for the lasagna(£13), and the salmon(£25) was the same, plus bones. The prices were what I would have considered dinner prices, and add in a few Cokes at € 6 a pop, we were VERY unhappy customers. I have to give it to the server – he was very good at sucking people in. Though, he was properly attentive. If any souls dare see these reviews ahead of time, good for you. You just saved yourself your appetite and a whole lot of euros to spend somewhere more worthwhile.

We were starving after seeing the Vatican Museum and decided to hop into this restaurant on the way to Piazza San Pietro. I should have known something was fishy when they wouldn’t let us see a menu with prices so we just ordered a couple of pasta dishes wondering«how bad could it be…» I should have sticker to my original itinerary. Huge TOURISTTRAP, terrible food, and horribly, horribly overpriced. DONOTCOMEINHERE. Terrible food, high prices, rude waiters.

Bar Moretto is a disgrace to Rome and Italians. It’s a café operated by Satan right outside of the Vatican. TOURISTTRAP!!! If you’ve never experienced a tourist trap, this is it. They dont offer you menus and when you look at their display glass of ordinary foods you’ll think«how bad can it be? I’ll just take one.» So I knew my small snack size sandwich was expensive. I didnt think much of it. What I didnt check the price for was the coffee which turned out to be $ 11USD. The nastiest, sweetest coffee I’ve ever had and it was more expensive than the nasty sandwich. I couldnt even drink it… and Italy is known for great coffee!!! Bar Moretto morons, you couldnt at least make it good for charging $ 11 cup of coffee? This place was air conditioned, clean, it had many waiters waiving in the suffering tourists outside in the heat so it’s easy for people to fall for the trap. Other things I noticed: — Person handled my sandwich sneezed into his hands and kept handling food. I saw the next unsuspecting couple order their food from him. Poor folks! — Sit down and take away prices are 50% mark up but there’s no menu offered or given on 99% of the stuff. — Sandwich given to me did not look the same as the one in the window. It looked less fresh and tasted days old. — Atmosphere of the café is just casual enough to trick you into sitting down. CHECKTHEIRTRIPADVISORREVIEWS! So many people said this place ruined their trip to Rome. Bar Moretto, if you conduct your business honestly you can still have great business and make good money ya know. I hope this place burns down.

We stopped yesterday after seeing the Vatican! Definite tourist trap and boy were we taken. My Husband and Son ordered a beer and they were asked large or small. They said large and both received a beer so big that it held a whole liter of beer. They should have sent them back or asked the price because, they turned out to be 20 Euros each! My Husband got a very mediocre prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich and I had a pretty large salad. Our son had lasagna, a slice of pizza and ice cream for dessert. We almost died when the bill was 122 Euros! The food was ok, but never worth that much!

TOURISTTRAP!!! Right along the street between Saint Peter’s Square and the entrance to Vatican Museums. But y’all will probably want a snack before going into the museum which will take 2−3+ hours. 6 euros for a large piece of pizza if you«take away», but 10 euro if you sit down. It was alright pizza, but way overpriced.(We chose take away and sat outside on some random chairs)
