Osterria Oscar a Montecitorio

Another tourist trap in Rome. We were lured by the man on the front door that told us everything was fresh and cheap, but it is not !
The waiter was awful, I have never seen anyone as despicable, he didn’t look at us once, smile or try to be nice at all (when we were having trouble understanding the menu, he didn’t seem to care much and even tried to bring walkers in the restaurant while we were trying to order !). When we paid, he took the card, let us type the code and went back in without a word. And they made us pay 6 € for service ! Unbelievable…
Moreover their «fresh food» is more like industrial food, I had the gnocchi with seafood which means industrial chewy gnocchi with 2 shrimps dipping in a «rucola» purée, whatever it is, it’s bland and unsavory … Everything is expensive except what they put on their board for 8 € which is margherita pizza and tomato sauce pasta which nobody takes because everyone wants to have a taste of something else.
Avoid this restaurant.

This was a great stop away from the touristy restaurants near the Pantheon. Note that this lunch will take a while as it is not the average tourist trap. Fritto Misto was excellent crisp and lightly fried, like tempura. I had the Spaghetti with clams and the clam to noodle ratio was excellent. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the experience was overall recommended. It is a bit pricier and will take longer so maybe not the best place for a family.

Way overpriced. We ordered 3 drinks, a pasta and some meat and it came out to be 83 euro. They charged for bread (twice) AND servizio (even though the menu didn’t indicate servizio). The carne mista was two puny ribeyes and was dry and overcooked.
I don’t recommend going here. Do more in-​depth research and find somewhere better and less of a tourist trap.
Troppo costoso e non tanto cibo. Poche bevande, una pasta e carne per due ci ha costato 83 euro. Caricano due volte per il pane e quattro euro a testa per servizio. La carne mista era due piccoli pezzi di carne e era troppo cotta.
Non mi raccomando. Fa ancora la ricerca e trova un posto meno di una trappola per i turisti.

Stay away — overcharges, bad service and below average food.
Significantly overcharged:
1. Charged Euro18 for bread — not requested and we were not told they were charging
2. Charged Euro35 each for fish quoted at Eoro17
3. Charged Euro20 for house wine quoted at Euro14
4. Charged a service charge not disclosed on the menu, and table was only for 3 people.
I addition the service was rude and bad, and the food was below par.
Stay away from this restaurant — they take advantage of being in a busy city.
