Don’t let the back alley and the building fool you. Great food on Murano. The seafood soup is excellent an the spaghetti with seafood is massive. Good wine list, simple dishes packed with flavor. This is a great spot for lunch. For dinner find the water and the view but when you are shopping for glass this is a perfect respite.

Actually called Al Bisatei according to the menus, we were totally enchanted. A mix of locals and tourists, with very good food. They still do the fava bean appetizer mentioned by another reviewer, and the seafood plate appetizer is excellent. I am a a little unaccustomed to having baby squid where the cavity hasn’t been cleaned, but the octopus tentacles were tender and delicious. The risotto is more than enough to share two or even three ways, and is delicious. The salad was very reasonably priced and very fresh. A delicious treat. The grilled sea bass was simply done and fresh. The ham(prosciutto) and veal were both tender, thin and flavorful. And they presented a nice limoncello liqueur as an apéritif. Two of us with an appetizer, main, bread, espresso, 1L water, and salad each, sharing a risotto and ½ liter of wine, was only € 60. The waiter was very good, earning a nice tip.

I can’t believe there’s only one other review for this lovely restaurant! It’s certainly an underrated gem. I loved my meal here. We came around 12 and just caught the end of the local lunch rush. Theres such an authentic, local and homey vibe to this place. There were a group of local men just chatting away at a table in the corner. Don’t expect great service or something fancy — it’s simple, good food for locals. The owner was an old man who was constantly running around taking orders and getting bread or dishes for a table, and i was amazed at the amount of work he was doing at his age.(If you’re a stickler for cleanliness — we were not — do note that they essentially just pass the bread basket around from table to table once they’re done. Sometimes the owner would just reach over and grab a few pieces of bread from our basket, since we weren’t eating it, and put it into another basket to hand to the table next to ours.) They served us a surprisingly good complimentary appetizer of fava beans and onions that was tossed with a vinaigrette. At the recommendation of the owner, we got the seafood platter(10 euros), and it was definitely the best thing there. It was a nice variety of seafood, and the octopus was so fresh and delicioussss. They also gave us sea snails with that order, which I really enjoyed. The pasta vongole was next, and it was cooked al dente with a good amount of clams. It was very simple, just pasta and clams, and I was glad it wasn’t smothered in cream(the way its usually done in the US). However, as a result, it was a bit plain and I’d like to try the pasta with mussels next time. The clams were also small clams, not the massive ones you often find in the US. Then we sat there for 30 minutes because the old man totally forgot our order of veal. That turned out to be the most disappointing dish, since it ended up just being slices of pork drizzled in oil — nothing special and I wished we had just gotten another seafood platter.

The appetizer(Scallops and Sardines) were very nice. Service was excellent(best we experienced in Venice). The fish was very fresh! This is only a lunch restaurant. It closes at 3 max, 3:30pm. At the end you get a glass of wine with biscuits you deep into the wine. It is a nice way to finish your lunch!
