A friendly and enjoyable environment. We had a few drinks here before dinner.

Warm and friendly atmosphere in this restaurant that has been here two years in the old city after the family had a restaurant for many years in Mestre. Nice bar. The raw Seafood was excellent and gnocchi with lobster(astrice). Made in house desert Salome cicciolato was excellent.

A lovely meal had here whilst on our last night in Venice. It’s close to our hotel, non touristy — which we love! The gnocchi is fabulous — melts in your mouth as does the chocolate cake too! Would highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Out of my 2 weeks in Italia, there are 3 places I would recommend. This would be the top! The food is uniquely flavorful, reminds you of home cooking with surprising angle. I had the crab gnocchi, and it basically melts in your mouth. Beef cheeks were also a flavor explosion in your mouth! The atmosphere is modern but friendly. And the staff were very friendly and extremely well trained to take care of some rude customers behind us who complained about their dessert for no good reason. We finished off the night with a delightful terimisu. The manager even offered me a sample of their amazing seafood risotto. Highly recommend this place!

Thanks Unilocal for another winner. Venice is overloaded with so many mediocre touristy restaurants that’s it’s always a challenge for me to sort out a great eatery. Cason was a wonderful experience. It was a twenty minute walk from our hotel in San Marco but worth the steps. The food was outstanding starting with a sardine and scampi appetizer, dining on ravioli with ricotta and sea bass, and cuttlefish with polenta, finishing with a hot chocolate cake to die for. They specialize in seafood and it was all so fresh and tasty. Don’t miss this one.

Most definitely top quality as described by others before us. Told by the waiter, very helpful and with good English, that the family owns another restaurant in the mainland and started the business in the 60s.

This was a tough call for us. 24 hours in Venice with only one dinner to enjoy, we had the weight of New York, Paris, and countless other excellent dining destinations to compare it to. Yet del Cason came through with flying colors. For a city known for its seafood, this place does it right. Our server guided us the entire way, pointing us towards the sashimi/scampi/oyster starter, gnocchi and crab, and linguini frutti di mare, all with superb wine pairings. The spritz to begin the meal was just as delightful as the tiramisu to end it. Sometimes a meal defines a trip, and this higher end Osteria brought bright modern dining to a sinkhole of crumbly sinkhole. With starter, multiple rounds of wine, Mains and desert, the total was $ 150, a bargain price for a trip defining meal.

Tasty friendly food. Wouldn’t mind recommending this place to others. Pasta was fresh and the gnocchi melts in your mouth with freshness. Average price seafood dish is around $ 20

Out of the way place, but worth the half mile walk from our hotel. Simply superb food. Liked the modern-ish interior. Service was great. During our time there we got stuck for an extra hour due to «acqua alta» that reached a higher than expected(waiter said almost 130cm) level. At some point water got past the door barricade and entered the restaurant. Pump couldn’t keep up and our area was maybe an 1⁄8th of an inch«under water». It was a bit smelly, which admittedly left us not feeling in the mood for desert(thankfully we were done eating), so I can’t speak for desert. But the food was great as was the wine. As for the flooding, it was part of the adventure and kind of par for the course for Venice in November. Price was pretty expensive(example € 8 for glass of wine, which was quite a bit above the norm) and they added what looked like a cover charge. But very good.

It’s hard to find specific places in Venice, and I actually recommend doing your own stumbling around, but if in your Venetian meanderings you find yourself near Osteria del Cason, as we did, you MUST go. While we sat on the cobblestones by the canal(how can you not?), we appreciated the modern décor which nodded to the Guggenheim and Venetian glass. Our waiter was friendly and was stopped for a chat by three or four locals passing by on their errands. But, guys, let’ get to the point: FISHLASAGNA When my husband ordered this, I thought smugly to myself that I had made the better choice getting shrimp linguine, because Fish Lasagna sounds kind of gross. I have never been more wrong. It was not FISH lasagna, it was jam-packed-seafood-of every-variety lasagna, in hot creamy alfredo, with crusted, cheesy noodles on top and soft, thin ones in between a chock-full sea of mussels, shrimp, unsalted anchovies, octopi and probably some other goodness I’m forgetting. Venice is often cold and gray and this infinitely better incarnation of clam chowder(this coming from a Boston native) was nectar of the gods, or maybe just Neptune… Don’t skip this seafood paradise. Get the fish lasagna and some white wine to go with it. It was my best meal in Venice, and it wasn’t even mine!

What a little gem! Not many reviews, hidden but well worth the find! The food dead delicious every mouthful was an explosion of flavor! The red wine suggested Valent was sweet and great compliment to our meal! Not a tourist trap, great experience!

I’ve found that some of the highest rated places that are most reviewed on Unilocal in Venice are actually really mediocre tourist traps. They are reviewed frequently bc they are easy to find. So I decided to take a different approach and get to Osteria Del Cason bc it’s incredible difficult to find… literally, google maps will take you to a dead end. But if you can actually find the place, it’s lovely. Staff is friendly, nice atmosphere, good food that’s not too oily like many other places. Great wine list. Open late, as well. Bonus.

We got into Venice during the time when all the restaurants close(between 3 –7:30). We asked out hotel if there was anywhere to eat and the front desk man ran down the street to see if this place could stay open for us. They did… And I’m so happy about it. It was just what we wanted — light, fresh and delicious! The house Prosecco was also very good. Highly recommend!
