Pizza AL Volo

I have been going to Pizza al Volo for 17 years now and it is one of the best places to grab a slice of pizza and a fanta at Campo San Margherita. San Margherita is a fun and casual square to begin with lined with lots of cafes and ice cream shops. Pizza al volo serves up pizza by the slice and each one is 2 euros. The drinks are about 1 euro and the slice is served on a piece of white paper. It is a small place with just a pizza oven, counter and soda machine and a trash can overflowing with the white paper from all the eaten pizza slices. The other cool thing about this place is that it is open very late and is the perfect food to go along with drinks. It has been around for many many years and it is nice to know you can always come back and it is still there as a familiar taste of Venice.

We ate here our first night knowing we would be jet lagged we didn’t want to book a reservation for a nice meal and decided to have a slice or two from this place. They have several pre-​made pizzas that you can order slices that they re-​heat. Here’s a tip: Get the freshest looking piece and have them re-​heat and you’ll be good to go… if your favorite pizza isn’t looking so hot… ask them to make a personal pizza for you and you won’t be dissatisfied. This isn’t gourmet pizza so don’t expect it… good if you are in the neighborhood for a quick bite but not worth traveling across town for. I think they also did a good job with crust is crunchy but has a wonderful chew that I enjoyed… If I was in the situation again — were I needed a quick bite in the area, I would go here again.

The pizza was pretty good, but the main draw is that it’s so affordable! You get a huge slice for like 2 Euros or you can get a personal pie for like 5.50−7 Euros that they make fresh with a soda. This is what we did the 2 times we came for a quick bite.
Located in a nice quaint square-​like area with benches around and other cafes and places to eat, it was a good place to munch and people watch.

2013 kostet ein Stück Pizza immer noch 2 Euro! Echt günstige und gute Pizzen (ab 5 Euro), schneller Service und das mitten in Venedig. Wer sich nicht abzocken lassen möchte und Hunger hat, die Stadt auch gerne mal zu Fuß erkundet der ist hier richtig. Im Häuserblock gegenüber gibt es einen Supermarkt, da kostet die 1,5 L Wasserflasche auch nur eine drittel (50ct) des üblichen Vendigpreises. Ich merk mir Volo und komme bestimmt wieder. ;-)

Not the greatest pizza but the best value pizza in Venice. Our tour guide pointed this out as the cheapest pizza in Venice. I think she was correct. EUR 2.00 per slice can’t be beaten.

2011 kostet ein Stück Pizza bei Al Volo inzwischen 2 Euro, aber auch das ist immer noch unschlagbar günstig nicht nur für venezianische Verhältnisse. Das Personal ist schnell und freundlich, die Pizza schmeckt und macht satt. Was will man mehr?! Nur von der unscheinbaren und wenig ansprechenden Außenfassade darf man sich keinesfalls abschrecken lassen hätt’ ich’s nicht vorher gewusst, wär ich daran vorbei gelaufen

Tolle Pizza, sehr günstig, aber keinesfalls in der Nähe von San Marco, wie oben auf der Karte beschrieben! Ich bin erst 15 minuten in die falsche Richtung gelaufen, weil ich zugegebenermaßen nicht schlau genug war, zuerst jemanden zu fragen. Campo S. Margherita ist in Dorsoduro auf der anderen Seite der Accademia-​Brücke!

Es una pequeña pizzería situada en Campo Margarita, en Venecia. No es la zona más turística de la ciudad pero al ser la zona universitaria es muy agradable pasear por allí, fuera de las grandes aglomeraciones de turistas.
Está en la misma plaza y es bastante chiquitita, sin embargo, la gente de la zona afirma que es una de las mejores pizzas de Venezia y, además, de las más baratas No dejeis de probar sus pizzas! buenisimas!

Gilt manchem als die beste Pizza der Stadt, jedenfalls sehr gut und sehr günstig an dem schönen großen studentisch geprägten Platz (mit Glück ergattert man eine Bank in der Sonne).

Konkurrenzlos günstige Pizza mitten in Venedig. Der unscheinbare Pizzaladen Pizza al Volo mit seiner dreckigen Markise dürfte vor allem Reisende mit kleinem Geldbeutel glücklich und satt machen. Ein Stück Pizza Margherita kostet 1,60 Euro, ein Stück Pizza Salami gibt es für 1,90 Euro. Tische gibt es nicht, aber es ist ohnehin schöner, seine Pizza auf den Bänken des Campo Santa Margherita zu essen und dabei die Stadt auf sich wirken zu lassen.
Mein Tipp: Eine Family-​Pizza wird in nur 10 Minuten frisch gebacken und füllt 2 – 3 Bäuche. Pizza Margherita in Familiengröße kostet 9, — Euro.
