I always drive on Arima Kaido whenever I need to visit my friends in Kita-ku or to visit Arima onsen. The traffic gets the worst around the rush hour and I always hate it but this is pretty much the only way to get through to Kita-ku from Hyogo-ku, the southern part of Kobe city. They sometimes close the highway because of the mudslides from the heavy rain so it’s better to be very cautious if you are on this highway after the rain. You will see some restaurants and amusement facilities on the side of the highway. If you are starving and have no choice besides getting some food on the way, I would recommend, Osho(cheap chinese restaurant chains), or take a rest at Suzuran no Yu(upscale version of super sento, they have Japanese restaurant).
