This is Kobe’s Chinatown! A mere 5 minute walk from Motomachi station East exit. Not very large area, just a few streets. But oh my god. I challenge you to get through this street and not have some famous Kobe beef. Of course there is also Chinese stuff everywhere. Kobe beef is not cheap. And these street vendors are going to attempt to upsell you on different levels of quality of beef and other side items as well. They’re not too pushy so you don’t have to worry. But if you want to enjoy this area, bring some cash! Oh man. Just thinking about this street is making me gain weight.

We came to Kobe’s Chinatown to eat some good Chinese food! They have some interesting creative food items on display; we bought some buns and egg tarts. Had a good time strolling through this neighborhood and seeing how this Chinatown in Japan compares to those in the USA. :)
Compared with counterpart in Yokohama, here China town in Kobe is smaller. It is located southward from Motomachi station. The entrance gates are outstanding! Shops or restaurants providing Chinese goods or foods stand side by side and are always crowded with customers or sightseers. You can find something rare in the general goods stores, such as China dresses or costumes of popular movies, goods of panda, or ethnic accessories. The first specialty shop, Roshoki selling Butaman or steamed bun with minced pork filling is located on the street. It has a history of more than 100 years. There is always a long line in front of the shop. I don’t care for lining, so I gave it up. In the central part a small square is located, where you can eat some take-out snacks.
