Came here after visiting the Ghibli museum at the end of August, 2015. We read the reviews here, and were super skeptical, but also super hungry, so we decided to chance it. Believe the reviews. This place is fantastic. I spent nearly three weeks going around Japan, and Sushi no Midori stands apart even amidst the infinite plethora of awesome food throughout Japan. There is a touchscreen system that gives you a number for seating. We just fumbled our way through it, and ended up sitting at the bar, which was perfect. Our chef was super helpful and friendly, despite our primitive Japanese skills. All the fish was spectacular. The whole atmosphere is almost like a big family meal or party. Everyone was enjoying themselves, and everyone we interacted with(both staff and customers) were pleasant and helpful. I’d have to say the tuna platter was a highlight. The Toro is easily on par with what you get at Tsukiji Market in Ginza, if not better. We spent about 8,000 yen, and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. If you’re anywhere near Kichijoji Station, make it a point to eat here.

I go to Midori Sushi everytime I visit Japan. It consistently delivers good quality sushi for a reasonable price. It’s no $ 200 tasting course but it’s certainly better than supermarket for conveyor belt sushi. You can get a set with a great selection for approximately $ 30, depending on which set you order. I come home stuffed with sushi. Make sure you get there early or there will be people. You know it’s good when even locals line up for the sushi!

All things considered, Midori Sushi is my favorite go-to sushi in the world. There are a number of locations in Tokyo, but I’ve only been to this Kichijoji outpost located in a B1 by the station. Be warned, it is constantly packed. Certainly not your subdued high end«Jiro» level situation by any stretch, and not a romantic date spot either. What shines here is the amazing array of fish to choose from, the serving sizr of the pieces, and the quality. For any sushi lover from the newbie to the connoisseur to the snob it is near impossible to be disappointed here. There are many levels and ways to enjoy sushi across Japan at various establishments. For my money in Tokyo, what Midori has going on is the #1 choice.
