what a lovely Mexican day ! i was strolling at port side yokohama and felt like eating a good burrito so look for the place that serve it by tabelog, found the Mexican restaurant where is located at yokohama sky building. here in this location, the Mexican restaurant is rare. the foods was average, fajitas are must– order dishes. i remember that there were various kinds of cocktails. if you wanna have a Mexican, this restaurant is convenient to access and service quality is normal as i recommend.

Food was OK, like typical El Torito food in California. Service was horrible. They delivered food that was half cooked. When I asked them to fix it the server and manager said«This is the way that we serve it in Japan» The store in Shinjuku has servers with a much better attitude. For a quick Mexican food fix this place will do in a pinch. Oh and for those from the US they charge for drink refills and chip refills. Unheard of in the States.

The food was good, but service was slow and rude by Japanese standards, pretty much the typical service you could find anywhere in the U.S. Lots of U.S.patrons, so maybe the staff has grown used to their environment. Meh

Up on the 28th floor of Sky building, the only way you can find this place is if you can read Japanese or see the Dos Equis beer in the corner of the ads for this place. I’ve been to El Torito in the states, and while this place is very similar, it’s obviously made a few changes to appease the Japanese palate. First off is the addition of several fish plates. In lieu of tilapia, salmon has been substituted. There are several combinations not commonly seen in the states, such as salmon quesadillas. The second note worthy change is the inclusion of avocado in most dishes. The Japanese have quite an affinity towards avocado, and El Torito has done its best to play to the crowd. Third difference you’ll quickly notice is the serving size, which has shrunk from«I can’t finish this» in the states to «this is reasonable», which for Japan, is a good amount of food. Taste wise, it’s pretty similar to chain Mexican food in California. Good, but not as good as the mom and pop places. In Japan though, I’ll take what I can get. I ordered the Mexican potatoes, which are fries with nacho toppings and the spicy chicken enchiladas. Both were good, but not as spicy as I normally like my food. To be fair however, I like my Mexican food extremely spicy. As for the sides, the rice was very good, just your run of the mill Mexican rice. The beans are similar to Chipotle’s pinto beans. Overall a solid meal. Salsa is decent too. It’s a mild, tomato based salsa that’s a little watery for my taste, but still better than I can make, so I can’t knock it too hard. Lastly, the bill. Pricing here isn’t too bad, but can spike quickly depending on what you get. The simple plates run about ¥800 but the fajitas start around ¥1500 and go up to ¥3000. Overall verdict: if you’re hungry and want some Mexican food and you’re in the area then this is a totally appropriate substitute.
