Kind of a mediocre museum, but at «free» the price is right, as is the location. It’s inside the stone Moorish building, whose tower is known as «Queen,» diagonally across from the prefectural capital(ken-chō), whose tower is known as «King.» The museum itself a mix of Yokohama history(and there are better places for that) and information about customs, including displays on the kinds of things that have been confiscated. Unfortunately, there’s no way to explore the older parts of the building or go up inside the tower, which is sometimes possible in the case of the«King» tower as well as the«Jack» tower on the Port Opening Memorial Hall down the street. *The museum is open until 5 pm(not 4 pm) May through October.
