Restaurant owned by former NHL’ers Shayne Corson and Darcy Tucker. The place was deserted, it was a Tuesday night but the Leaf game was on so I was a little bit surprised. I ordered one pound of wings(half sweet thai and half medium) with a large Corson salad(garden salad) for takeout. The wings were all overcooked and under sauced. The thai sauce was nice but I felt like I had so little of it that all I tasted was overcooked chicken. The medium sauce lacked any flavour. The Corson salad was better but only just. The portion size was enormous. You can decide if that is a good or a bad thing, for me it was great because I run a train on salad when given the chance. The oil & vinegar dressing was a little bit too much vinegar and that became more and more evident as I got to the bottom of the salad. In the end I found myself disappointed with the meal and wishing I had gone elsewhere. Could just be a one-off because of a couple mistakes made in the kitchen but you are only going to get one chance when there are so many other options around.

I stopped here with a friend, I ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and my friend ordered a poutine. My cheeseburger was pretty good, they were stingy on the fries though. My friend said the cheese in her poutine tasted like plastic. We ordered dessert, we each ordered a slice of coconut cream pie. The pie was really bad every bite you took it left a stinging taste on your tongue. We asked the waitress if the pie was expired, thinking that’s why it tasted weird but she said it was made that day. They have excellent customer service it’s just their food really needs to improve. My friend and I both had upset stomachs that night.

I happened to stop in to Corson’s twice now, my journey just happened to bring me here, although I wouldn’t know this place even existed if it wasn’t for the coupon in the entertainment book. I love the entertainment book because I get to discover and try new places that otherwise I wouldn’t find or know they even exist, now for my review… Corson’s is more of a bar, despite that they do call themselves a «Family Restaurant». Sure, you can bring your kids but there is the dark bar type atmosphere feeling and with all the TVs playing sports that does not hide the fact that indeed it is a Sport’s Bar. Very friendly service from the woman who I suspect to be the owner. Our sever however just started and it truly showed, she didn’t have any comprehension on much of anything, luckily our order came out right and was pretty good to I should add. The penne a la vodka had one ounce of vodka in it and it pretty good, both times I have visited I got the penne. If you read my reviews you will know I am a pasta loving girl :) If you happen to be passing by Barrie or want some drinks, I would recommend giving this place a shot, I haven’t been disappointed yet, and It isn’t too far from the 400 so you could stop get some dinner and continue on your way home if you happen to be coming back to the city from a weekend up north.
