Loved our stay at the Albion this past weekend and would definitely stay there again. We stayed in room #4 which was quiet and private, very clean and cozy and air conditioned. The staff was so friendly from the moment we arrived and were very accommodating with our dog. Since we had our dog with us, we ordered dinner from the restaurant and the staff brought it to our room… The food was amazing — really delicious. Continental breakfast was simple(croissants, toast, fruit, cereal) but great. FYI there is a tv in the common room down the hall but no tv in the hotel rooms; no phones either. No big deal to us but some people might want to know ahead of time. I wished we had of brought the iPad. We’ve stayed at the Little Inn down the street in the past but will stay at the Albion from now on because they don’t charge an extra fee to have our dog with us.

one of the last few summer ish nights of 2013 was spent having dinner at the albion house in bayfield, mom and dad and my syster had some sort of soup, and I had good olé chicken fingers. plus the mugs for beer were gigantic and we got to take some home with us… interesting evening

Please note that the Albion Hotel encompasses both a hotel AND a restuarant; we ate at the restaurant, so the score is based solely on that. While staying at the cottage on Lake Huron, we traveled into nearby Bayfield for dinner. Unfortunately, our first choice(Black Dog Bistro) was closed randomly for the evening, and the main option available was Albion Hotel. I’d give a solid 2.5 if it was an option. The service was friendly, but the food leaves much to be desired. The menu is fairly standard small town fare — I opted for chicken strips(which came with plum sauce — in a plastic cup) and an optional side greek salad for a $ 3.50 charge. The chicken was as can be expected, but the salad had far too much oregano, semi wilted spinach, and tasteless feta. My husband had the veggie wrap(which he enjoyed) and a side of fries(standard taste). We were both taken aback by some of the prices… for example, the veggie wrap at $ 8.95 was more expensive than a fried chicken wrap; a basket of regular fries was $ 5.95(normal, I suppose) but a basket of sweet potato fries was up to $ 10(what?! I guess maybe they are difficult to acquire in this part of Canada?). Other prices on the menu were similarly as bizarre. And the worst negative of all: the water tasted like it came out of a rusty pipe — HORRIBLE metallic flavor, and we heard a nearby table talking about it as well. Not so great when you’ve been basking on the shores of Huron all day and need a refresher. So, not great, but given how packed it was(presumably because it was the only thing open), maybe it’s top quality for the area.
