Great food, sophistication hidden in simplicity. Exceptional ambiance and very friendly and attentive service.

Stopped at this small but renowned hotel in Bayfield, Ontario, on the recommendation of relatives. Known for its fantastic sunsets, which we didn’t get to see one as it was raining and overcast when we stopped. Our suite was extremely comfortable and quiet. Found the rooms/suites to be a little pricey and the in-house restaurant even more pricey. Our breakfast the following morning was mediocre at best, but was included in our room price. Service was extremely slow. Never got a chance to visit any of the shops in town because it was Canadian Thanksgiving the day we stopped and we left the following day before all of the shops opened at noon. Maybe next time.

I’ve stayed here thrice now and love it. Once this past June and a couple times at Christmas(kinda like a calm before the Storm of seeing in-laws and family). Beautifully decorated rooms with the most comfortable bed outside of my own home. The Carriage Room is spacious, as we had friends in our room before dinner for a drink. A DRINK and nothing else, you filthy-minded little… I experienced the Saturday Night Wine & Dine Getaway — 5 course dinner with wine pairings. Wonderfully displayed and a server/sommelier wise beyond her years. As everything gets a little hazy after a few glasses of vino, food descriptions are a little sparse. I do remember that the wines paired with dinner are Local and they change the winery on a weekly(?) basis. Gorgeous surroundings in a little village-like atmosphere. Particularly beautiful at Christmas time. Save your pennies and stay a night… or two.
