As a new transplant to the city of Halifax, and in need of a few pieces of furniture, I experienced a long, full day of exploring all things furniture in the HRM. Statement Design was definitely one of the highlights — from the clean design of the space, to the welcoming and kind service we received from the owner, to the perfectly awesome chair that I bought on the spot — it was a pleasure to shop here. Will definitely return!

This is a toughie for me. As far as the shop and the products go, it’s the stuff my design dreams are made of. There wasn’t a single thing in the showroom that I couldn’t see in at least 20 493 places in my house, and for once, there wasn’t a single thing I’d change about any of it.
On the other hand, it’s a high-​end furniture store and they definitely behave as such. I didn’t feel particularly comfortable browsing for inspiration, nor did I really get the warm fuzzies when I worked up the guts to ask a question. Sure, the gorgeous product and showroom definitely earns them the right to a bit of pretension, but it still doesn’t sit well with me when it comes at my expense as a shopper.

Exceptional products and service. In the world of retail, there is nothing that wins my heart and return business faster than fantastic service combined with quality products. Statement is easily a «10» for both.
The loft-​like store, lots of wood and exposed brick, is a perfect setting to showcase the mostly contemporary furniture, sleek and clean in its lines. However, if you are looking for something cozier, the staff is happy to make suggestions. While there is a good collection of floor models to give you an idea of what’s available, most customers order pieces customized to fit their needs.
With friendly staff, Statement is more than a furniture store, offering additional design services such as colour selection and space planning to create the perfect design experience for you. One staff member is a trained architect and shares his knowledge in a gentle, nonpushy way to provide you with the best solutions to meet both your budget and your sense of style.
This customer-​focused attitude has earned my business: I’ve bought a sofa, two custom upholstered chairs, a designer coffee table and some lighting for a bathroom reno. I’ve never had any complaints. The product arrived on time and was beautiful. They are very accommodating too as I have been contemplating the purchase of a new dining table and chairs for the past two years. There is never any pressure, only helpful advice when asked.
Yes, you may have to save your pennies to shop there, but don’t think of it as a splurge. Think of it as an investment. All the pieces I’ve bought are such good quality I know they will last until I head to a nursing home! And they do have sales from time to time.
Statement is about to launch its own furniture collection, beginning with beds and continuing with dining room furniture. I can hardly wait to see the dining room furniture. I need a new table and I’ve been saving my pennies for a little luxury.

High profile finds in this wowa-​awesome shop. Interiors are enough to make you put that second mortgage down… or at least consider it while this sensory experience takes you in.
My recent trip into SD gave me the fine idea that I’d come here whenever I needed some extra motivation in getting myself set up in «life». Ten years down the road, I could be nestled into the cranberry chaise-​lounge, eating grapes and writing my memoirs. (They say they best way to reach goals are to create that mental image!) So… I better get to work if I’d like to get the matching ottoman.
Exposed brick and lofty haunts keep my interest as I peruse the store in a daze. Oh me, oh my… its safe to say that a décor crush is in the works.
Whether its inspiration, a curious browse, or the lucky folks who are in the market for some utterly awesome digs, Statement Design is THE spot to stop into. And as the wishful Wayne Campbell once proclaimed: «You will be mine. Oh yes. One day, you will be mine.»

From Vancouver to Montréal, and Paris to London — I have visited my fair share of high-​end furniture purveyors. This lofty North End niche on the East Coast of Canada rivals some of the comparable shops I’ve browsed in much larger, more notably chichi cities.
Can you say exposed brick? Be still my heart and make a proposal already. I stepped anxiously into the shop after doubling back. For some reason it can take a bit of courage to venture into a store where one piece costs ten times more than what sits precariously in your bank account.
Once in, I was so pleasantly enamored with what I saw. Gorgeous, well crafted displays, unique, tasteful pieces, not to mention an immaculate white leather sectional — hubba hubba.
I poked around, mildly scared to step on any of the display rugs. There were large nooks housing royal sleigh beds, curtains hanging from floor to ceiling creating division within the airy space, and a group of important looking people discussing business at the store’s counter.
I looked at price tags (some suggesting $ 5000) and became hypnotized by a luminous, marble inspired chunky coffee table. Movers worked about the store, packing up some furnishings for delivery (no doubt to Halifax’s finest), and just when I was starting to feel ignored, I was greeted by a young, well dressed man sporting a smile.
Statement Design is a very tasteful store, presenting their exquisite pieces in awe-​inspiring fashions. I love. I want. I commend.

I think I could be happy living in this store, I really do. Surrounded all the time by sleek modern furniture and cutting-​edge home accessories… honestly, it might be a sacrifice, but I would be willing to make it.
It’s sad but true; I can’t afford a single thing in this shop. And the boys won’t let me live there. But I guess a girl can dream.
Also, she can get ideas for things she can faux-​up to look similar to the gorgeous things she aspires to someday buy here.
For those who can afford it, and clearly you’re out there, because this shop has been in business for some time now — this is a great source for unique designer items for your home. Maybe you could invite me over some time?
