Super convenient to have a full-service hockey skate shop at 8 Rinks. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive at first thought, but the other day, bought a regular-priced goalie stick, & just asked the cashier as he was finding it on his computer, if it’s on sale since a bunch of others were… and he knocked off 10% on the $ 99 Reebok 5, sure, why not. It’s a decent selection for those who forgot one of their elbow pads or joc, lol, sticks but there’s socks/jerseys too. don’t expect a Sport Chek selection here or customized service to fit your skates, there’s only 2 ppl working here, sharpening like crazy with 5 – 8 pairs in line sometimes. Usually driving in a mad rush on the highway to make it here, there’s no time to visit your favourite local store, so this does the job for last-minute skate sharpening too. Open daily til decent late hours 10pm, close a bit earlier on Sundays.

Usually referred to as «Burnaby 8-rinks,» this is home to the BC Figure Skating Section Centre of Excellence and the Vancouver Canucks. It may be down to 7 rinks(one is now indoor soccer) but it sure beats the pants off any other multi-rink complex I’ve been to. The Skate Canada rink is the warmest. It has a long mural along one wall and blue(somewhat torn up) fabric covering the boards. Keep an eye on your belongings at all times — lots of bags get stolen here.
