Came here for lunch expecting not much, but was amazed at the service, food and wine selection! Lunch was very good and the owner knows her wine! Delicious

Hidden gem just outside of Vancouver. Probably one the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, the cordon bleu keeps me coming back time and time again. If you’re heading over for lunch, go early or call in for takeout. The restaurant is quite small, so do plan ahead. The fries are heavenly, and the homemade soups are delicious.

Really good and well priced. Small place with a nice ambiance, excellent service and a tasty selection of baguette, salads and amazing breakfast. Very busy, so be prepared to wait.

Come here, take a break, relax and enjoy uncomplicated quality tasty food! Always friendly, it can often get busy so don’t come here if you’re in a rush! It’s a small place and family run, so reviewing based on slow service is really silly and petty cause it’s only slow when they are jammed packed.

It is a really popular place and I’d been eager to go for years. Finally had my chance. We put in our name at 11am and they told us it would be 20 – 30 min. We gave our number. So +1 points that they call you back. We waited around for 30 min then went in to see how things were progressing. She said she might get us in, maybe 10 more min? We ended up waiting 20 more min. Ok, not their fault. A lot of patrons seem to sit around after their meal is done and it’s a small place. We seat and we try to order right away. Get the waitresses eye. She nods at us and then forgets we were there. We can’t get her attention again, she kept turning around. Finally someone came and took our order. She warned us that they are busy so it might be awhile. Ok, we understand, thinking 20 min tops after we order. I mean, it’s a sandwich place! At the 40min mark, I see they have filled out several take out orders while tables are left waiting for their food. At 50 min, we have no choice but to ask for our food to be taken to go because it’s now been a 2 hour lunch and it’s another 30 min to get back to work. EXPERIENCEANDSERVICE: 1 star We got our baguettes. 1 was smoked salmon, the other was the schnitzel. It’s not bad — of course we did take takeout so the fries are now soggy as is the bread. The smoked salmon one is pretty standard, and the shnitzel was a tad dry, but the mayo helped flavour it. The tomatos on it were cut so thickly and unevenly it’s like their knife was blunt. For sandwiches, I still prefer Hubbub if you’re looking for a comparison. FOOD: 3 star. It was a very disappointing experience. They don’t need a patron like me as they’re so busy, but just be aware of what you’re getting into.

Coming from Europe recently, this place resembles home so much that I wanted to stay for as long as possible. I had breakfast and every thing from the omlette to the fruit salad was top by any standard The portions are quite generous and the taste is extraordinary. The people are very friendly and make you feel like you are a regular here.

Amazing atmosphere, real coffee(superb), and delicious food that is freshly prepared and leaves you feeling healthy and well fed. I’ve only tried the breakfast, which was an omelette with Black Forest ham, onions, and a melted French cheese, next to a side of potato demi-wedges and a demi-baguette toasted to a nice crunch. One day I hope to be here for the lunch menu which looks most tantalizing!

Another great little place that my brother has taken introduced me to. My second visit was just as great as the first time. A small place with just a few seats, my brother called in advance to reserve our table. My mini me had the onion soup and she says it’s so cheesy and yummy«I’m gonna even eat the onions!» Hard to believe since she doesn’t like onions. With no help or offering to share any she devoured the entire bowl. My bother and I shared two baguettes. one with fries(a very good portion) thin and crispy. And the other with soup smooth and yummy goodness! Bourginion — braised beef with a hint of horseradish. this one is my fav! Schnitzel — pork loin with caper mayo…(I think the pork is breaded, don’t quote me on it… I forgot!) The baguettes were good sized and will fill you up! This place is recommended:)

I honestly don’t know how this place got high ratings! Maybe I went on a bad day? Who knows! I had their beef short rib baguette and fries. Gotta say, was not that impressed. I go to Unilocal alot when finding a place to eat so I checked this place out. The baguette was not good in my opinion, bread was dry and hard but sauce was good. The fries just taste like McCain fries you can just fry @ home and when I got the firs they were a bit dull already. There was one worker and one chef. The place was busy so it seems pretty popular. Wouldn’t be going back though.

My wife introduced me to this little gem in Burnaby and I’ve been back a few times with different people. It’s a small location with limited seating, but it’s definitely worth the wait. The owners are super nice and I love how they speak French to you.(And thankfully my high school French kicks in enough that I can get by! LOL!) I’ve had the lamb shank baguette, beef bourginion baguette, Nicoise salad, and the French Onion soup. Frankly, I don’t know if you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything I’ve ever eaten here is phenomenal! And the soup is simply one of the best French Onion soups that I have ever tasted. As others have mentioned, they have limited hours that make it difficult to visit them. But if you can make the time to do so, your tastebuds will forever thank you for it!

We had a glass of white wine that went well with our food. It was a Cotes du Rhone. The serving staff informed us that it is a Grenache blend. It went well with our Forestiere omelet and the Cocktail sandwich. It was obvious that the staff take pleasure in serving as they remembered peoples preferences. FYI the owners family operate a Chez Meme in Maui.

If you want your mouth to be in for a treat then make sure to eat at this lovely gem! We were a group of 6 including 2 kids and because of that we had to wait a bit for a table. The place is small but you won’t mind when your delicious food is put in front of you. One of my friends had the pear, almond, and brie sandwich and I had the duck confit omelette which had potatoes, duck confit, cheese, and onions. Yummy. Simply divine. We didn’t have wine but the wine list was small but varied. For dessert the 4 adults ordered 3 different desserts and we devoured each one. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this restaurant and I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying a meal here. Oh, the staff speaks French!

I used to live in the neighbour hood when they first opened and had many great lunches and breakfasts there. Drove by the other day and saw that they were still open so a return visit is on the horizon.

Waited a month until I could go at the proper time(only open on weekdays until 3pm and one Saturday a month) but boy oh boy, it was worth the wait. I was prepared to have to wait as I’d read that was often the case. However, we arrived just before 1 and were seated right away. I had the short rib baguette with onion soup and my wife had the steak with Caesar salad. We requested a good wine paring to go with our meal and the server(pretty sure the owner) was extremely helpful. Our food came faster than I’d expected and was not a let down. All of the yums. The previous amazing reviews are all too correct. It was all succulent. But I had a couple glasses of(perfectly paired) wine with my meal so that’s all I’m fit to say for now. I will definitely be going back. A lot.

This place was a amazing find! Family-run, cozy and delicious. This place has a variety of specially baguettes and fresh soups. It reminds me a bit of Finches Tea House in downtown Vancouver, but less hipster, less pretentious, and just as tasty. You can tell they put a lot of heart into their food here. One thing I wish I tried was the french onion soup, however I was much too full to order another dish. I would definitely come back to this place if I am ever in the neighbourhood for lunch!

Super busy on Tuesday! Tiny space but fabulous food. Had the beef bourgignon baguette with soup of the day(cauliflower and garlic). My friend had the ratatouille which she raved about. The baguette was so fresh and beef perfectly tender. The soup was to die for… silky smooth texture but big on flavor. Definitely going back!

I’ve been here a number of times as I live in the area. The owners are very kind, always considerate of their customers and are straight with you. While it can get really busy and the wait times can be long(45 minutes is something I’ve heard multiple times), they are very courteous and tell you when it will be available and will phone you if you wish. As for the food, my go-to baguette must be the schnitzel! The combination of flavours are to-die-for. Very crispy baguette, it’s probably my favourite part! The housemade soups that aren’t loaded with cream are also quite delicious. I love dipping my sandwiches in them. I also frequently get their breakfast, with poached eggs, slices of tomatoes, and their potato hash. I love getting this, as it fills me up without feeling all heavy and bloated. Great starter to the day. Overall, I love coming to Chez Meme. I’m glad a place like this opened in North Burnaby :) PS: The blankets on the chairs add a nice, cozy touch. Almost feels like home.

I had their Caesars salad and it was fresh and delicious. It was the perfect size for lunch. The other girls I was with had French toasts with either strawberries, bananas or Caramelized pears. I don’t like French toast but the girls ate them up. The presentation of everything was very nice. I could tell the quality of the food was fresh. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

I’ve tried the beef short rib sandwich(Bourgignon) for the first time and loved their fresh crispy baguette and tender beef. Plus the portion of fries was so big and felt too full to finish their fries. However, the horseradish sauce in the sandwich was too hot I’d almost cry and there was no vegetables inside other than bits of onions.

It’s now open for dinner — however, the dinner menu is quite different from the lunch menu and a fair bit more expensive. Pretty much offering only parmentier(shepherd’s pie — ~$ 15) and tartine(open face sandwiches — $ 8). I tried both — while not bad, I was really hoping they had their awesome baguettes on offer during dinner. In fact, another table walked out when they realized this. I should have done the same thing, but I figured I’ll give it a shot. The dinner menu is 3-stars — the lunch menu is 4-stars. Giving them the benefit of the doubt here…
