Fried chicken. Nothing like eating a load of chicken covered in breading before being deep fried in the oils that produce free radicals. I went there and got their 3 pc deal with fries. The chicken was somewhat fresh and the fries were as soggy as McDonald’s Fries. If I had a choice between KFC and Church’s… I rather go to church’s. Service was dismal since the employees there were not caring of their work. While the employer would give a reference to them, I got a feeling that this place won’t be around much longer based on the fact that it the service is bad, letting along the food.

Fried chicken is a guilty pleasure for me(probably the #1) and a dangerous one as I get older and less healthy. I’m judging this against its contemporaries, chain fast food, so don’t get all uppity that I gave some gourmet place a 3. As far as fried chicken in this city goes, especially the spicy variety,… I really like Churches. Especially when you get the pieces that are a bit more dried out,… heaven. I know that Lee’s in Richmond on 6th road is often touted as the best«bad’ chicken, but I feel it is pretty similar to Church’s. Mags99 in Squamish, I feel is maybe a cut above(but just different) General Church’s is a pretty consistent franchise,. you know what you will get but I see reviews stating otherwise. This particular one seem cleaner than some, and the service better but it is part of a little strip mall and part of the appeal of other locations is that they are some of the last holdouts on the drive-thru, stand alone buildings with a parking lot and I see those going the way of the dodo bird as Vancouver and Burnaby rapidly loses any architectual variety(ie every business is in a generic box in the base of a condo).

The coupon on the website gets you a 3 Piece and Fries order of dark fried chicken. The chicken here is pretty oily, but not as oily as what you might find at KFC. It has a satisfying crunch to the skin and you have the options of spicy and regular seasoning. Personally I can’t handle 3 pieces of spicy so I usually ask for 1 or 2 regular seasonings with my order. The golden fries that accompanied my chicken was also quite crunchy and not too flaky on the inside. They take on an interesting curly shape which helps with scooping up more ketchup. It’s a shame you can’t skip the fries for another piece of chicken, but overall I think this is a great meal for $ 5 after tax. All you need to do is print the coupon or load it on your smartphone for a hassle-free transaction. Do yourself a favour though and skip the soda for a cup of water. It’ll keep the cost at $ 5 and keep you hydrated. Go figure!

I just wanted to make it clear that I was very tempted to review this place at a single star because of the service I get time and time again, but the food is still what it’s supposed to be. This location is open 24 hours and when I’m having a bad day and want some late night junk food, I sometimes come here. The first time I ordered a 10pc combo to bring home for the family. Unfortunately, I was told I had to wait 10 minutes because they didn’t have it on hand and needed to cook it. 10pc really should be their minimum hold amount so customers don’t have to wait. 10 minutes became 20 because the cashier realized shortly after that the man working in the back wasn’t listening to our conversation and didn’t realize he needed to drop the meat into the fryer. This visit alone would have received a 0 star review if it was possible. The fresh, crispy chicken was delicious but it wasn’t worth waiting 20 minutes for. The second time I ordered, I had a coupon from a comic convention for a discount off an individual meal. I had another person with me who also had that coupon and was turned down. I’m not sure the cashier(same from above) realizes what«one per customer» means, and secondly, that fineprint wasn’t even printed on the coupon. Good luck asking for a manager here. The staff are all of the same ethnicity and like to defend one another even when they’re wrong. I asked for a business card or a contact name and number and all I got was, «I don’t know her last name. Her card is in her office.»

After watching RHOH and seeing all the celebs talking about church’s chicken, you know Ya boy had to check this Sh*t out right. It’s not bad for people that like greasy nasty food but it isn’t good at all. It’s like a welfare knockoff version of KfC. There chicken and chicken burgers have a weird metal-ish after taste and 70 percent of the patty is the breaded part which taste like a spoon full of canola oil in your mouth. It doesn’t taste authentic and real. Taste like plastic and rubbery. I been to another location and there’s was crap too. I gave this location a 2 star because at least they know how to take a order. The one on Kingsway had a women who looked like she had adhd just standing there drooling and didn’t say one word. I just had to say I want the ____. Plus the Kingsway locations nasty and raunchy, at least this ones clean. Okay you know what I’ll give you guys 3 stars instead of 2 because honestly I’d rather shoot myself than go to Kingsway church’s chicken again.

Super Juicy Piping hot Fried Chicken! This restaurant always seems to be busy. Went there on a Mother’s day and the line up was practically out the door! The funny thing was that 99% of the customers in the line up were all males! I guess many of the moms are having chicken for dinner. Staff are friendly and they give you a cup to help yourself to a soft drink if you have to wait for your chicken. 9 out 10 times, I have to wait for the chicken. The chicken is so piping hot, that even 30 minutes later, when I get home to eat my chicken it is hot! There are always Church’s coupons out there. So if you want to use more than one, they will accept if the manager is not there.

Church’s fried chicken is always good, but I would avoid this specific location. I’ve come here 3 – 4 times before, and have seen ants crawling on the tables. On my 4th visit, I was so disgusted by something I saw being done by the kitchen staff that I left without ordering and called the CFIA to do an inspection of the place for poor food handling practices.

The chicken was MUICALIENTE(VERYHOT), physically. I must have been given regular as there wasn’t a hint of spicy heat. Huge helping of fries to go with the ten pieces of dark meat. The gravy tasted like it was made from beef bullion cubes. Missed out on biscuits but maybe next time. This particular store is extremely busy. Did not stick around to check things out. It was convenient to the hotel. Good on this very rainy night. The staff is accommodating as I saw in other reviews. Impressed to see that in action as fast food places are not known for their flexibility what with tight margins. I’d go to Church’s again but not very often as… well, you know… I don’t need it. ;)

Hurray! Now you can gorge yourself on fried chicken, with a side of fries and gravy at anytime during the day or night(why not do both?!). Admittedly, this place is a blessing for people such as my brother and I who are starving following a late night hockey game. When we refuse to settle for the usual burgers and subs, we know we can count on Church’s Chicken to fulfill our cravings. The combination we always get(and for approximately $ 20) is the 8-piece breast and drum set with fries, gravy, and pie(or their other dessert which they never seem to have). Between the both of us, it’s not often we finish everything, but it does fill us up. You can request hot wings instead of the usual fried chicken, or extra fries instead of pie. The workers are usually very laid back and willing to please the customers. The chicken is usually made fresh so expect a wait and parking out front will be limited during the daytime. If you intend to keep fit or maintain a healthy lifestyle, I strongly urge you to avoid eating here.

I must say I still miss the days when fried chicken was $ 1/piece. Now it’s $ 2 – 3. Sigh. Parking is available in the lot out front, but as this place fills up(Sushi Garden and Staples also share the lot), there is plenty up top on the roof. There’s a driveway that wraps around the E side of the building. The inside looks like most other fast-food places. The chairs are an attempt to make the place look upscale, but this ain’t no McCafe. Prices are about $ 6 for a 1 piece combo(with fries and drink), or $ 8 for a 2 piece. One positive thing I must say is that they do throw in an extra piece if your chicken is small. I got 3 pieces for the price of 2, as the drumsticks were a bit tiny. Definitely a nice gesture. Pop refills are 70c each. There’s also free Wi-Fi here, and the place is open 24h. Pretty glad this is in the neighbourhood.

One of the newer ones, I like it, free parking and hop over to Staples too or Save on foods/winners on the other side, what’s there not to like about this location? ;)

I love greasy fried chicken so what can you say about churches? Fried greasy chicken hits the spot but I feel like I’m taking away 6 months of life whenever I consume this stuff. I like the fact that the spicy is actually spicy. I still don’t think Churches«flavour» is as good as Original recipe KFC but some of my friends beg to differ and it seems like there are very few KFCs around nowadays. Taste is subjective! Service at this location is good and friendly, if there is a wait they give us a free beverage to help pass the time… what can I say, it’s fast food that is extremely unhealthy and fattening but is SO satisfying and enjoyable as long as you don’t eat it very often!

Before my gluten-free vegan diet, I ate Church’s. I’m a huge fan of the chicken and had often gone to the Hastings Sunrise location to get some. At this location, the same great tasting chicken, fries, corn, jalapeño peppers… so delish. The downside: the sign on the restrooms says that when you use the toilet, you must put the tissue in the garbage, not flush it down. The chicken gets a 10 but if I were to go back to eating Church’s, I will stick with the Sunrise location: D

Omygoodness I love it here! The service is really great. my friends and i were last night. The guy who served us gave us free honey biscuits. The spicy fried chicken we ordered are so good, so fresh, so yummy and really crispy. The best church’s chicken i ever have in town! Good service, fresh chicken, awesome fries. what else can I ask for? I think we all made the right decision to have that. We all felt so damn satisfied :)

My kryptonite, my addiction. I usually eat dark meat, get some if their hot sauce and eat with rice. HEAVEN. I’m on a Church’s restriction as one day I found myself eating it 3 times in one day and coworkers were giving me coupons. I knew then I had a problem. A problem so Delish! Church’s, always a classic, always a favorite.

Whenever my friend and I decide that we need to lose a little weight, we go to Church’s for some«Goodbye Chicken.» We frequent this location because my friend thinks it’s the cleanest. Luckily, we find parking right in front. Sometimes it’s tricky to find parking because a sushi restaurant moved in next door, but there’s plenty of parking on the roof. I never want to say goodbye to Church’s Chicken. I LOVETHISCHICKEN. Compared to other places, their chicken is moist and the skin is so crisp. It’s always scalding hot because it’s so fresh. Also, their pieces are way bigger than other chicken restaurants. We always get the 10 pieces of chicken(we like dark meat, it’s also cheaper than white or mixed), fries and a large gravy. We also pump like ten little cups of ketchup and I use about seven of them myself. My friend loves to scoop the gravy. She dunks the whole piece in and again for each bite. The fries are crinkle cut like from my childhood. The gravy is smooth and perfect. There are never any leftovers… it’s Goodbye Chicken… but we’re usually back every couple of months.

Caught in between of a Staples and a Sushi restaurant, this is probably one of the newer looking Church’s locations they have, or that I have been to. None of them are as new as this one, everything in the back kitchen area is still glistening of chrome. The booths are new, the tiles are new, the washroom is clean. But regardless of if this place was sparkling clean, it wouldn’t be a ‘Church’s” without the signature chicken. And they do not disappoint, with the nice crispy skin, normal or spicy, and the nice gravy. I find this places gravy thicker and tastier than the other Church’s, and sometimes I am forced to come here cause of this point alone.
