Fentimans Botanically Brewed Beverages

A local eatery here started carrying their soda. I tried their cherry cola which was okay. I was actually disappointed that they used fructose and regular sugar instead of a reasonable alternative. Sugar is sugar, however, the false comfort that they were being a bit more aware of their ingredients would’ve been appreciated. They charged gourmet prices for something that isn’t.

I don’t like to give 5 stars, because it is 10 out of 10 or 100% — surely nothing is perfect! Yet 4 stars just does not seem enough for this tonic water. I use it with premium gins and my favourite citrus garnish, mix it all in right balloon glass with ice… crash, bang… the PERFECT G&T can be created. I did get a batch that had past its BB (best before) date and the almost-​perfect balance of botanicals, quinine and fizz was markedly diminished. Any how — get your hands on a fresh cool bottle and work it into your repertoire… for those that like this style, it is as the saying goes, as good as it gets — FIVE STARS.

The UK beverage company created in 1905’s north American presence has a foothold in BC. Ginger Beer, Victorian lemonade and Curiosity Cola, go through an old school natural fermentation process that leaves trace amounts of alcohol. Not enough to get you Cola Wasted but it gives the soft drinks a nice unique kick.
