Whenever I have enough time before going to Metropolis, this is an easy stop: way better choices of popcorn than the theatres, with good reason. My favourite is Chicago, a combo of savoury cheese and sweet caramel. Expensive? Not at all, look at the variety you get, plus usually there are sales, like buy one, get a 2nd bag half price. Plus, they let sample any flavour! Try getting that somewhere else haha. Bonus, no gluten options. Located by T Booth.

I love Kernels, but I will NEVER buy from this location again. Three times I’ve bought popcorn here, and three times they’ve given me a bag full of crumbs! It’s like the bottom of the barrel, broken tiny pieces of crap that they’re too cheap to throw out. When I’m paying $ 7 for a bag of popcorn, I want popcorn not garbage. Last time I specifically asked to not get a lot of crumbs, and they still filled up the bag with them. Talk about completely ripping off your customers.

I love the concept but realistically it’s a rip off. I say that ’cause popcorn is cheap to pop and now you can buy your own flavor shakers. I only come here to buy the candy coated ones, however, even at that I find that the price for what it is… expensive. They do gift tins which during the holidays I found this to be a better alternative than the box of chocolates for neighbors.

The popcorn is delicious. The service is friendly but inconsistent. Sometimes my bucket is jam packed other times it is a little low. I have a pet peeve with this location however. The penny is phased out now but they insist on giving me 4 pennies in change. I always tell them that I no longer deal in pennies but they insist on giving me pennies. It bothers me enough that I will not buy from them now. I will drive to Oakridge or pay these greedy people at Metrotown with a credit card. It is the small things that add up to a good or bad experience. I feel cheated. I do not want pennies.
