This hiddem gem is one of the best places for phở in Burnaby. Tucked in between several bigger stores, Ha Café holds its own with excellent food, good prices, and super speedy service. Their beef noodles were freshly served in minutes, and their crispy chicken wings packed more punch and flavour than most poultry dedicated restuarants. Dont let the vintage interior fool you, this place rocks and is my favourite place for phở in Burnaby.

This is one of my favorite if not the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in Greater Vancouver. It’s quite small and quaint but they make the best noodle soup I’ve ever had and I go with my wife often. I think their secret is sauteed onions and basil. The basil is extremely fresh and very delicious and their prices are very reasonable. We love their food every time and they’re quite fast and quite courteous with their service as well. The only thing is one time I ordered a spicy chicken dish and half the chicken was just fat and skin. So that was disappointing but other than that it’s an amazing place and I’d recommend it to anyone for any culture any background! Yummy!

Technically 3.5 Ordered: #16 Half Chicken and Pork on Rice with salad($ 8.25) Thumbs up: friendly and responsive staff, quick service, generous portions(very filling) Concerns: the pork was a bit overcooked, chicken burnt on the edges(or is that just the nature of the dish?) Note: their chili oil is on the spicy side, I made the mistake of adding too much…

My favourite phở place in Metrotown area. The staff members speak English. Establishments accepts credit card /debit card which is a lot more convenient than other typical Vancouver phở restos. I’ve never had a bad food experience here. Only thing I don’t like are the couches that you may be seated at to eat. I don’t think I’ve ever sat on a couch to eat at a dinner table before. Their couch looks and feels old and it sinks in. Short people may need a booster chair!

On the pricey side of Vietnamese cuisine. Decent service and atmosphere.

This is the go-to place for phở food for me when I’m in Burnaby! Their food is consistent and had a great vegetarian phở noodle soup. Service is always on the point. Their lemongrass chicken and pork on rice is a must try. So delicious! Their soup based noodle soup is great too! Definitely highly recommended!

Started with the spring rolls. Their good, cooked perfectly decent dipping vinegar. I’m a big fan of Spring rolls as Boa Chau so its hard to measure up. Their smaller but still tasty and 3 for $ 6. My daughter ordered the Beef ball phở. Once again, it was fine. Broth was neither here nor there. Doesn’t stand out either way. I don’t like that they add the sprouts for you. No sprouts on side, no basil, one tiny section of lime for 3 of us But yeah, for Kingsway it definitely didn’t get my top mark of PHOSHIZZLE. 3 out of 5. Denise had rice with pork chop and chicken. Came with a large salad. This was the stand out dish of the evening. lots of meat, nicely marinated and grilled, big salad. She gave it a thumbs up. Now I had the sweet and sour soup. At least that’s what I ordered and that’s what they called it! I have no idea what the broth was. it didn’t taste bad in its shy and understated way. It was not like any sweet and sour ive had. no egg swirl, a few chunks of canned pineapple, a single piece of broccoli, a fair amount of chicken thin broth lacking in flavour. I added a shitload of chili oil to pry some character out of it but alas, it was too late! Yeah, even if it was a different variation of S&S that my white ass is unfamiliar with it was still lame. Maybe their recycling the dish water on that one… ok enough of the poor S&S. The service is typical. They served us, no one was offended. $ 33 bucks without tip. So yeah, to sum it up, with all the stellar bowls of soup on Kingsway why go here. Oh, décor was fine, not fancy, typical family café but with big comfy couches at the back.

Honestly my coworkers and I decided to boycott this place. Food is overpriced. I can get more noodles and meat for less at other restaurants. Broth is full of msg. Viet subs aren’t very good either. The lemon grass chicken is tiny and bland. Did I mention I found some hair in my entrees a few times? Definitely not worth returning or the price!

Pros: — Plenty of parking on private lot — Prompt Service — Decent broth Cons: — Uncomfortable chairs — Offers only one-size of phở(small) — $ 8.25 for a small bowl of phở — Most expensive bowl of small phở I’ve ever paid Phở is comparable to Song Huong(SH is still better). Will likely not return as I can find comparable and better phở in my neighbourhood.

Every Friday night, I would come here for the spicy beef noodle and meat spring roll for my wife and pork chop on rice for myself. It’s a real treat, the food is always consistently very good. I call 10 – 15 mins ahead and they will have everything packed for me by the time I got there. Very friendly service.

The Ha Café is like the absolute worst… their food is alright(go for the banh mi or rice dishes rather than the typical vermicelli), but they are chronically understaffed and the people who go there are the absolute worst. Looking at the tiny space you would think two people would be stretching it, especially as many people do take out and no one mans the counter(time to time the servers will run over and deal with it, and then run into the kitchen to take out dishes), but that tiny space is completely bustling with people, which means 4 people should be doing the work that 2 are struggling to do. This leads to groups who suddenly walk in being taken to tables when people have been waiting in line for 20 minutes, take-out orders skipped and given out with missing dishes, and all kinds of fiasco that can completely ruin your lunch hour. I was personally there this afternoon and had a difficult time; I’ve been there a few times before and my company orders from them whenever we are working over time, but I will have to say today’s experience put me off for good. The combination of their usual bargain hunting Chinese population, bitter seniors, along with very loud blue collar workers, culminating in terrible service proved to be just too much for me. I think they could have carved out a better market for themselves if they weren’t so willing to waste 20, 30, 40 minutes of a person’s time, but this isn’t a doctor’s office and a considerable portion of those in the neighbourhood are office workers who have little lunch time to spare.

Nice quaint joint nestled in the corner of Old Orchard Plaza. Phở is decent not too salty or full of msg. They also have traditional eggs breakfast!

Was pretty good… wife liked her phở… she said it was ok(ok… it didn’t blow her socks off… she just had the regular beef one)… I had a banh mi(beef as well)… sandwich was tasty, wished it was a bit bigger, or a little more stuffed with… stuff(didn’t matter veggies or meat… just more stuff). We also split a small order of tamarind sauce chicken wings… those were pretty decent too. Service was prompt… friendly… good overall. Place is close to us… it was pretty good, and not too badly priced… we’ll be back.

Visited Ha Café for a lunch with a co-worker. Space appears clean, staff is very friendly. The first thing that we noticed was the belching regular over in the corner(deemed a «regular» due to his casual conversations with staff in their native tongue). Our appetizers arrived fast, with chicken wings that were good, but not exceptional. One pet peeve of mine is when the diner’s meals are not brought out together. Our meals were brought out separately. The meals were good western-style Viet cuisine. Overall good, but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again.

Total hole in the wall gem! The portion sizes are huge! The spring rolls are super meaty, and crunchy! The lemongrass pork is fragrant, and has some nice charring going on. This place is always packed and with people getting take out!

Solid 3.5 stars, gotta appreciate the comffy diner-style sofa seating in the far back. Sure this used to be called another name, some deli sandwich but i digress. Seems the new owners from last year have added the Vietnamese cuisine to it, while still keeping the Western stuff, like breakfast – good idea, needed in this Old Orchard plaza. Iced coffee’s ok, a bit sweet; one nice touch was the wrapped straws. Free parking. Consider a repeat visit as it’s low-pressure here.

I have to congratulate this place for achieving what few indy restaurants accomplish. Good food across all 3 meal periods! You pay rent 24⁄7 you may as well serve all 3 meal periods right? Breakfast is your standard diner breaky($ 4-$ 5), lunch they serve typical deli/diner sandwiches($ 4 -$ 6) as well as the Vietnamese fare. Dinner they serve a selection of Vietnamese/Asian dishes. I don’t know how anyone can complain about the price at this place the value for money equation is definitely on point here. The food is fresh, the place is clean and the service is attentive. The salad rolls were served with a handmade peanut sauce. The Phở was fresh, light, and delicious. This place is very approachable if you’ve never tried Vietnamese. Please enjoy J

One of my favourites for classic Vietnamese comfort food. This little eatery serves up a good variety of basics like phở, and lemongrass pork on vermicelli. When we feel like a treat, we’ll add an order of spring rolls, and Vietnamese coffee. The dishes are tasty, and the portions are generous. The diner décor is actually a step up from the usual hole-in-the wall look of most Vietnamese places. Consistent quality at a good price, served up by nice people. I’m a regular.
