We’ve shopped at this Kin’s market for the past 8 years or so. It’s been ok. I wish they had more organics as even just yesterday I wasn’t able to find organic apples. Their gala apples in the front are very waxed up. Also one of the store staff(young guy) dropped some of the tomatoes and just put it back in the box. When asked why he said this is why you should washing our products after you buy them which was pretty unprofessional. Not unlike dropping a computer at Best Buy and telling clients this is why you should buying our warranty. Overall though they’re products are ok.

The good: Kin’s Farm Markets are located ‘within’ Malls, and thus, handy when shopping at a Mall for other stuff & such. Their selections are usually highly-varied, they’re presented well, and qualities are usually quite good. The not so good: Kin’s Farm Markets are located within Malls, thus, their products tend to be priced on the high side(especially when compared to other small neighbourhood markets), I guess, reflecting the high lease prices they must pay for their locations. The daily and/or weekly specials offer some relief, but the number of products«on special» at any given time, are very limited. Plus, products are not priced the same at different stores, and the specials offered, may vary by store as well. In shopping at three different Kin’s Markets, I have found products in this particular store to be priced about in the middle of the other two — with products in the Brentwood Mall store priced the highest, and the same products in the New Westminster 6th&6th Mall store priced the lowest. And that often includes the product specials as well. This Kin’s Market offers some of the better-looking fruits and produce to be found around here, but it comes at a rather dear cost. We prefer to shop, when able to do so, at the small, stand-alone, neighbourhood markets.

Blueberries are $ 1.99/lb! I love coming here for their great selection and prices. Everyone seems friendly, helpful, and approachable at the Lougheed location. Their fruit plates are a mandatory buy for me. They are clean, look delicious, and are a great healthy snack.

As a mother of two I am very conscious of cost and Kins Is a great value. I can pick up two full bags of fruits and veggies for $ 20 compared to $ 40 at Safeway. Another plus is they mark their locally obtained produce which is fabulous if you ask me I’m all about supporting our local businesses and farmers. The only downside to Kins is that they don’t carry organic produce but otherwise it’s a great place to shop

Too small a space — can be very busy, and there just isn’t enough room to move around in there. But their produce is great quality and amazingly cheap compared to grocery stores, so I love Kin’s! Not for those who only buy organic though(which suits me. «Organic» is the biggest scam going).

It is always great seeing a clean and nice produce market open up in a mall environment, as it seems to add life to a mall, instead of having regular retail store after regular retail store. The fruit and vegetables seem to always be set up in a nice fashion, presentable and brightly lit for everyone. Some people might think Kin’s is more expensive than other places, and at times, some items, yes, and some, not at all. One thing that Kin’s has going for it is that wherever they are getting their produce from, they definately watch out before randomly putting things out to the public. Also, they put out a good amount of samples of their fruit for you to try, which is always nice if your wondering if it is sweet, or not.

Man I love this place. Screw Safeway, with their charging me three dollars for one friggin red pepper. Everything at Kin’s is cheaper and ten times fresher than any grocery store. I can spend 20 bucks there and have veggies and fruit to last me two weeks! Sweet. Oh yeah, and they’re like the only grocery store for 100 miles that has Thai bird chili peppers right now :) Seriously. I dare you to find them elsewhere.

While wandering the mall, I know I need something, need to spend some money on something, burning a whole through my pocket and all… and what better necessity than fruits and veggies? The great thing about Kin’s is the random things they have. One time I scooped dragonfruit and starfruit on sale based on the fact I had tried neither and they just look neat. And then I need a pineapple, some oranges, bananas, potatoes of course, fresh parsley seems the good idea… oh oh, all of a sudden my basket is full! …I can’t part with any of my selection as I have my heart set, I can eat it all really fast anyway don’t want to waste any money or food(you know children are starving in Ethiopia guilt growing up) — I find partial peace of mind knowing I live with the human garborator who would never let good food go to waste when I can’t eat it [meant in the best way possible] — so i plunge and go to the checkout stand… Always delighted my overflowing baskets of healthy treats and meal necessities is always a very reasonable amount at Kin’s. I can walk out with two bags loaded for what I would pay for half a bag at a grocery store and it is always much nicer. Now I have a craving for a Navel orange… and maybe some yams… *note to self go to Kin’s tomorrow*
