Got order totally wrong. I ordered Box B(Salmon), got it home to find beef. Also ordered a box A(Chicken) and was stone cold. Spring rolls were small and under cooked. Salad dressing had too much garlic. Tampura sauce was very salty(more like au Jus). Sad. But a fail.

This is my first review on Unilocal. My boyfriend and I were hungry and decided to get sushi and teriyaki. As I opened my chicken teriyaki don, i noticed how bland it was. Barely any sauce, the chicken was small and flat and no vegetables. Literally chicken and rice with a tablespoon of sauce. I literally cried while eating it, thats how much it sucked. We also got California rolls and spicy salmon rolls. The salmon one was just salmon with nothing else in it with some type of sauce on top. They were also at room temperature… We had to put it in the freezer just to make it more appetizing. This was a big fat disappointment. Im still hungry. Theres tonnes of sushi places in Burnaby, try a different one.

This is a great little sushi place. Food is tasty and fresh and prices are excellent. The only thing I would want it for them to include what is in every roll. I’ll order a roll and see that it’s not everything I wanted. Other than that one thing, the place is nice takes cash or debit, I’m not sure about credit cards. You pay first at the counter. It’s a hidden little gem this place.

Kind of blown away by this place — the service, the speed, and holy moly, the portions. I just grabbed a few pieces of both wild salmon and tuna to go. It was ready in less than five minutes, so cold and fresh it was(almost) frozen, and the pieces were each the size of three pieces from other sushi joints. A bit more expensive than other places($ 15 and change for 10 pieces of sashimi) but this was a huge amount of food, and exactly what my body needed. Will definitely return. A word: probably easier to do takeout here, it’s a really small place, only seats about 20 at most. When I arrived the big table was full and the other table filled up before I left, leaving only seating along the window.

Just discovered the Tara Miso on the menu and I’ve had it twice now and it’s sooo damn good. It’s black cod marinated in miso and then grilled. It melts in your mouth and I just want more and more, told my co-worker about it and she tried it and loves it too. It’s a must try here!

Great hidden jewel in Burnaby. Very affordable, great presentation, and very tasty food. The chef takes great care in presentation and playing with different sauces and flavors. The caterpillar roll just melts in your mouth due to the generous amount of avocado and tasty sauce. The California roll is simple and has a nice subtle flavor. The dashi fried tofu is a must for tofu lovers. Light and crispy on the outside and pudding-like inside. Overall, a great new sushi joint that deserves much praise.

Usually, I’m dubious of reviews with not much track history(sorry Landy lol) but because of her review, and the fact that I needed to prep, as well as on a sushi binge since returning from Europe, I decided to give this one a try. Easy parking right on Canada Way, in the newer development of condos, which is a good sign. New building means new kitchens means less likelihood of rats running around, but I digress. Designed strictly for takeout, with about 4 tables and window seating. Clean, simple, bright. Not a place to hang out with friends on a Friday nite. On to the real stuff: the food. Which was amazing. Played it safe with the cali roll, negitoro, chopped scallop and assorted tempura. Real fresh, the the cali probably one of the better ones of late. Lots of meat(imitated as it may), sesame, white ginger. Next time, for sure will order the signature, specialty rolls. Price-wise, way too cheap for what they offer. I actually want them to make it more expensive so the quality will be sustained lol. Easy repeat.

Went here on a rainy day for lunch, was looking at Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a try. When we walked in there was no one there so it felt a bit awkward but I didn’t expect a lot of people due to the rain anyways. We ordered an Oishi roll, chirashi don and some salmon sashimi. I couldn’t believe how thick the sashimi was. Everything else seemed fine too, will probably go again if I’m around the area.

Fast, friendly service and top notch product. Owners are great people and the food is fantastic. Best sushi in the area. Go to Nu and tell your friends to go there too. Wasabi gravy?

Simply awesome. We went there tonight and had chicken roll, salmon roll, salmon teryaki, miso soup and green tea. Very obvious that the quality of food was top notch. Customer service was pretty good ss the owner(i guess) was taking orders personally. Highly recommended

Finally a decent sushi bar near the area! After trying out many mouth-watering sushi joints in the lower mainland, I always wished there was something decent close by home when I crave Japanese food(like daily). NU sushi bar is in the corner of the new plaza on Canada Way, close to Boundary. I would like to give 4 stars, but i’m just missing a bit of the wow factor in the food though everything is decent(wish we could give half stars Unilocal!). The service is great, value is comparable, and the DELIVERY service is a huge bonus for someone lazy like me. The small seating area could fit about 15 people, and we just beat the lunch rush at 11:45am. It gets pretty busy with the offices and hospital near by, so take out is a good option! They have a variety of cooked and raw food. Large bento boxes for less than $ 10.50. All their specialty rolls are all $ 8.95. I sort of fancy the explosion of tri-colored tobiko everywhere on the speciality rolls, its kind of festive for rainy days. Although this isn’t a place to expect anything fancy, it is a casual place in the neighbourhood to get a quick meal, or in my case my ridiculous sushi craving. Anyway, I’ll be back :)

So much better than the previous sushi joint that used to be here. Nu does a stand up job of providing a great meal at a fair price. I had a bento box with perfectly salted saba fish. It came with a generous serving of agadeshi tofu, and some excellent salmon-filled potstickers. I also enjoyed the California roll which had just the right amount of creaminess in the filling. Even though this is café style where you order and pay at the till, we got full, proper service, with an attentive server who checked in on us and kept our tea topped up. I will definitely come back to try more things.

Woohoo! I work at the hospital up the road and was so happy to stumble upon NU Sushi Bar. Not only is the staff super friendly but the food is fantastic! I ordered the dinner bento which came with everything I wanted no substitutions necessary and it was only $ 9.50 what a deal! I look forward to trying the lunchtime specials as well. The tempura was not overly oily like you find at other Japanese restaurants and the Teriyaki chicken was prepared perfectly with the right amount of sauce consistency and skin crispiness. The Cali roll was fresh and I particularly enjoyed how refreshing the Ebi Sunomono bowl was. They definitely just earned themselves a new regular customer and take it from me Unilocalers, check out NU Sushi Bar!
