The restaurant has a new décor, Compared to before when it was was rather dark and furniture was really worn. But, unfortunately that didn’t help change the quality of food. The honey ribs were mostly fried fat dripping with oil, which was really disappointing. The eggplant pot with pork shredding was the only dish I can recommend, so if you’re really hungry and looking for a quick eat? this is it.

I’ve been here 2x and really enjoyed the food. The ginger beef was well executed. All the food is classic cantonese style. The wontons are tasty, not super fatty like some places that make it with poor quality meat. Everyone at our table said we should come here more often after the meal.

I’ve always had take outs from this restaurant and they never disappoint me. Even though I’m not really a fan of Chinese food, I really like this place. My family decided to try and eat inside the restaurant, since they just recently renovated. Really nice and friendly servers. The food was good. Wasn’t too oily like most other Chinese restaurants. My favourite one was the fried squid and the Szechuan beef with crispy spinach. They also gave us free mango pudding for each! So nice! It’s also inexpensive.

After renovation and new management the foods are much better, and they also have $ 6.95 lunch special too.

My cousin and i went here for late lunch, huge restaurant can accomodate hundred people… average chinese cuisine, service is good, quite, free parking + street parking, casual attire and accepts all kind of cards… we had the chicken salted fish friend rice, soup, sea food hot pot and fried wanton… sad to say ordinary and doesnt really excite my taste buds… a lot if diverse clientele comes here though… reasonable price… find it out yourself…

On Ons is classic chinese food. I’ve been eating here since I was a little kid and it hasn’t changed. If youre looking for something fancy and giving this place bad reviews then obviously you don’t know what this restaurant is about. The food is good, family style. Decently priced. The service is good. The owner is a friendly man who is always there and smiles and always remembers your face. You can’t go wrong with a fried rice, spicy squid and wonton soup.

We were only in Vancouver for two nights and wasted one of our dinners out at this crappy place because some family friends insisted on taking us to dinner. The food was subpar. Most of it was bland like other reviewers said. Green beans were decently flavored but soggy. Another dish was too sweet. I was mad the rest of the night that with all the great Asian food options in this town, we had to go to this one. Don’t go here, just don’t do it.

Unauthentic Chinese food for non-Chinese or non-asians! I only go because my Canadian friends prefer their MSG!

Came here with my wife after stopping in metro town. The food was ok, nothing special. Staff was rude and inattentive, I probably wouldn’t return. They need better noodles and friendlier staff.

We order takeout every couple of weeks; it’s the #2b(we substitute Chicken Chow Mein for the Pork Fried Rice). It costs about $ 30. The food is nothing to write home about – it’s kinda bland, but filling and a takeout meal for 2 usually lasts us a couple of days. The«Crispy Ginger Beef» is always chewy… like eating sticks… but tasty. The Won Ton Soup is good, however. I think they’re shrimp wontons. Been eating their takeout for a year or so, and it’s basic, filling Chinese.

«Go sit there», which is funny because there was absolutely nobody else in the whole establishment except employees. Ordered their«special» fried rice. Bland, smelled funny, and the pieces of pineapple tasted like mold. Everyone on the table had horrified looks on their faces acquiring this piece of knowledge. Ordered bbq pork and duck. Bland, and the pieces looked like someone else’s leftovers. Dimsum. This was the worst. Gagged a little bit on it but managed to keep it down, other people did not. This is a good place if you want to have some sort of hazing session with your frat buddies and have a game called, «Can you keep it down or who will have explosive diarrhea first.» Everyone I was with including myself got sick after eating from here. Will never go back even if you pay me.

I came in. Waitress points to table. «You sit there now.» Alllllrrlrighty then. Ordered lunch special. Sweet and sour pork, fried rice and veggies. Veggies overdone, pork especially fatty, chicken in the fried rice smelled funny. Waitress didn’t bother asking what we wanted to drink or come around for any reason. Apparently, getting a napkin is a special order, had to got get one myself! Look, not trying to be a douchbag here, but the food was pretty bad, and I’m a very forgiving guy. The service was terrible, clearly the staff don’t care about their tips. The only good thing was the lumberjack portion size. Great if you are extremely hungry, have burnt out taste buds and/or drunk/stoned. If that is the case, then bon appétit! Otherwise, avoid like the plague.

Very reliable, consistent Chinese restaurant; large portions of properly seasoned food. The salt-and-pepper fried squid is definitely among the best around. The Sichuan-style green beans omit the requisite minced pork, but then that’s the norm at many Chinese restaurants in the Greater Van area. Service is friendly and efficient. The restroom is clean, with soap and paper towels.. Another plus is the fact that you can usually dine here in peace and not feel crowded.

The sign is upside down. It’s supposed to read«No No Not Now». Presumably not ever. I have the misfortune of being related to people who actually like this place. Each year they celebrate their birthdays here because, as my mom patiently and diplomatically explains to me; it’s big, the staff are accommodating and it’s kid friendly. Those are all valid points. But once a year here is once a year too often for me. The best part of the meal is always the cake which we bring ourselves. We’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu. And each time I ask myself; Are any of these dishes actually Chinese? They all seem pretty gwai lo to me. One time I had gai lan that was done well but that’s gotta be the easiest thing on the menu to prepare. Bland, boring, generic, safe. wait a minute. THAT must be what she meant by kid friendly! Why don’t we just go to Chuck E Cheese? At least I could play whack-a-mole while they eat their crummy meals. I feel bad for slamming a small business like this but I really dread coming here every year. Not to worry though, my family are creatures of habit and we’ll be back. I’ll just make sure I eat first.

Sometimes I just crave regular ol’ typical Chinese food. I have decided to make only enough food at dinner because I hate leftovers dying in the fridge… then I curse myself because I could have brought the extras for work. Since I don’t think ahead, I venture out into my work neighbourhood. This restaurant has been around for a really long time… It was the office standard before the Taiwanese place moved in next door. When we would dine in, you were greeted by the lovely lady who sat at the cash. A server would tell you which table to choose(window seat please because I love the view of Kingsway) and drop off some menus… followed by the standard tea. We only order from the lunch special menu… usually a #77(small hot and sour soup) and a #13(BBQ and bean curd on rice) for me. Oh and they have coke in a can. The soup is hit and miss… sometimes it’s nice and sour, other times just spicy. I can always count on the bean curd and rice those. Soft pillows of tofu with bbq pork on rice… Their prices have gone up, but not enough to deter me from going… buck maybe. If I am feeling adventurous, there is beef and green beans in black bean sauce on rice… yummy. I dine in very rarely now because now one wants to come with me… the only person who does, I have to cover her lunch at work. So I take out now… a fried rice can last me three days at work… Oh, the chicken and bean sprouts chow mein is dry noodles with no sauce. I was expecting something a la On Lok, but it’s not the same.

One of my favorite restaurants. Good food, friendly waitresses. Decent prices. What more can you ask for. Get the dinner special — 2 dishes plus soup, rice, and fortune cookies. I recommend the spicy squid, singing chicken hot pot, spicy chicken … everything is good though.

Met some collegues here for lunch. Had the curry vermecelli and chinese greens — tasty and not oily or greasy. The others had Wonton noodle soup and a nice vegetarian stirfry — they looked good and tasty — and that was the consensus of the other two. Green tea and ice water. Service was ok– and the meals arrived quickly and hot — no complaints here. Price? — pretty reasonably priced. I’ll be back.

When you get here, they seat you by pointing their finger. «go sit». If you don’t move because your still confused by the rude introduction, then the lady will walk you to the tabe and say«Ok, here good» and leave. You will then be left yo figure out what to eat. «this places food is bland». I did not like it. We ordered 5 dishes. Sliced beef, beef vegetable, chicken fried rice, chicken w/cream corn on rice, chicken on crispy noodle, wonton noodle soup. Bland Bland Bland Ok Bland Unwilling never eat here again and I reccomrnd that you skip this place too If you don’t have plates or bowls on your tables(from the 60’s I should add), don’t worry they will come. Along with the food they just splash onto your table, they throw the dishes at you too. Lol. Check the plates for previous customers lipstick. I am not kidding. Check Refills forget it. I had water and didn’t even get a refill. The place is cheap. And maybe that’s why the service SUCKS. The HOG. Don’t go here trust me. It’s bad.
