The food is good but overpriced. The lady is really rude to me for some reason and has a bitchy attitude. I have always been nice to her and today I called to order a breakfast and she literally said«I don’t have time for your breakfast.» She said she has too many people there and that I don’t like seasoning and she can’t do that. I don’t understand what is difficult to not put seasoning on the potatoes. It’s less work! Anyways, she really rubs me the wrong way and I find her extremely fake when she is «nice» Perhaps because I don’t kiss her ass she doesn’t like me? I honestly have no idea cuz I just come in there to eat and not be friends. Extremely rude. I won’t be going there anymore.

Absolutely delicious. Don’t go here if you’re trying to lose weight but put this place on your bucket list. I left happy and full. The lady running the place is really nice and friendly. Will be back! Cash only.

I was the one who talked about the wait times in my last review, but they seemed to have improved. Had a craving recently and phoned ahead but despite sounding busy, I was only quoted a wait time of about ten minutes which was great. They are still the SUBKING in 2015. I also talked about the price, and while I still think $ 20 all-in for their most expensive sub the Super Paul is a bit steep, at least they haven’t hiked the prices in the last few years, and quality is still the same. It’s absolutely stacked and weighs like a lb. If you are really hungry for a good sub and you’re near Metrotown, get out of that food court and come down to Imperial St, plenty of street parking, and check out this establishment managed by one of the sweetest old ladies you’ll ever meet.

Now that Jared has disgraced Subway, there has to be a new way for subs. Who are we kidding? Subway always sucked. It was seemingly just the only fast food option available besides burger and fries joints. So where else can you get a sub? How about Paul’s Sub Shop! I’ll cut to it because I’m going to lose you if I already haven’t to the ADD epidemic. I ordered the 6″ Paul’s Super Sub for $ 10 tax included. Yes, it does sound pricey given that the 12″ version will cost you $ 19. Definitely sounds like a sandwich for heroes. I’ll agree that it feels expensive but it’s worth it because you will not find subs like this in many places if at all. It’s about supply and demand. Paul’s Super Sub is a stir-fry of sliced steak, capocollo, mushrooms and the rest of Paul’s standard innings(grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, edam cheese) on white or brown. It gets messy but it’s greasy sub heaven in your mouth. The insides will have already fallen out when the plate arrives assuring that there is no chance of you crying about lack of substance in your submarine. You can get a crappy 6″ sub from Subway that is guaranteed to suck or you can get one from Paul’s for a few bucks more and get something for your money. Just to let you know, Paul is an older woman and I don’t think her name is Paula. Eat in or take-out. There are other items on the menu as well such as breakfast and hamburgers.

Really really bad customer service. Don’t waste your time coming here, it’s not worth the hassle or your money. Will not be returning anytime soon.

Get the Paul’s Super Sub! I was hesitant at first by the price(pricey for a sandwich at $ 10 for a 6 inch/$ 19 for the foot long) but when I bit into my sandwich I already forgot about the price! That sub was so damn good I didn’t even expect that. The sub was a grilled hot sub and it was packed with so much meat: steak, salami, capicollo. The cheese was nicely melted with the other toppings of mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, and their sauce. I was totally blown away by that sub. I will definitely go back.

Just had a late lunch at Paul’s sub shop. They have hot and cold subs, breakfast food all day(omelette’s & eggs Benedict), etc. I had a foot long cold sub(turkey & bacon) and my wife had the 6 inch grilled vegetarian.(I’ll try to include pics). They were very tasty. The subs were like home cooking. My bacon was good and the Turkey was fresh and tasty. My wife’s had caramel iced onions flowing out on top of a tone of other good stuff in it. I saw some other sandwiches being prepared on the grill and they looked great. We also had two snapple drinks. The bill came to $ 30. Not a cheap place but it was very good and filling. The lady who waited on us and did the cooking and cashier(probably an Eastern European) brought us complementary fries and onion rings — I wouldn’t suggest ordering or add them(they were ok) as my sandwich was very filling. Things to know. It is cash only and not cheap!!! There is ample parking in the back and on the side street.

I walked into this sandwich shop with low expectations, it’s a crappy little building located in town, and it doesn’t look like much. My opinion greatly changed about this place as soon as I took the first bite of my sandwich, EASILYTHEBESTSANDWICH I’VEEVERBITINTO. I had the steak and steak 6-inch sub, let me tell you, it was amazing! I’m talking juicy steak with sautéed onions on it, onions are sweet warm and juicy, enough to make a grown man cry. The lettuce and tomato on the sandwich was also very good. The bread is delicious and soft, it’s not your shitty subway bread. It’s soft and fluffy; when you bite into this sandwich it will give your tongue a hug. My buddy who went out to eat here with me had the grilled cheese with fries. Again a simple classic dish made perfectly. The grilled cheese was golden brown, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. As far as i know there is only one lady who works in this shop. She is the shop owner, the chef, the cashier, waitress, and the bus boy. This woman does it all and I have tremendous respect for her for it. She’s very hard working, her food is great, and her prices are good. The woman who owns the restaurant will remind you of your sweet grandmother, when she takes your order expect her to call you«sweetheart» or «Dear». Due to the fact that the shop owner is Miss Incredible and run’s this shop completely on her own sometimes it takes a little long for your sandwich to come out, I say it’s well worth the wait. I was there on Saturday and we only had to wait about 20 minutes before we got out food(this includes time we spent ordering food and sitting down). Considering all the other things the shop owner was doing I think she made pretty good time. Also what a badass little lady, she makes the best sandwich you’ll ever eat and she is totally self-reliant. A couple thinks to note, she ONLYTAKESCASH, your looking at $ 10 for a six inch sub, so I would suggest walking over to the Chevron a couple stores down and using their ATM. Also you can park behind the restaurant in a secret parking lot(entrance is right by the Chevron) or on the street. If you are staying in Burnaby or even Vancouver I strongly recommend you come to this sandwich shop, it’s worth going out of your way for.

The Subs are delicious, and well worth 4 stars. But it misses the full 5 for me because the service is slow, and for what you get, the price seems a bit on the high side($ 9 for a 6″ sub, $ 17 for a foot long). Oh and remember, its a cash only joint; but if you forget to bring cash, there is a Chevron a minutes’ walk east that has an atm.

I find the sandwhiches to be a bit greasy and salty at times but not bad still better than subway. Their onion rings are surprisingly good. Owner lady is really nice I feel kinda bad for her though cause she seems to be the only one making the food and taking the order. Restaurant has bench like seats to sit in further back which is kinda cool.

Home made sub sandwiches, all day breakfast, great service and good value. This place is a winner. Seating is cafeteria style… Rustic. Parking at the back is useful as it’s on a busy street.

All I can do is basically echo what so many before me have said. This is a neighborhood gem. The subs are lick your fingertips delicious. Prices are definitely steeper than what you’d expect at a sub/sandwich shop. Service is adorably friendly and the owner lady«oh so sweet»…yet o-m-g painfully slow at times. I waited over 50 minutes for my first sub. No joke. The owner was extremely apologetic, but I understood that they were trying their best to make sure every item they put out was exactly as it was intended to be. In my case it was the«special» and it was hands down delicious… sure the hunger pangs may have added a taste bud point or two, but I think even without the stomach growling wait it would’ve been able to stand on its own. Love these kinds of neighborhood gems and hope this place stays around for a long long time!

Love this place. The owner(I presume) recognizes me every time and loves to customize orders. The subs are great and probably the best I’ve had in vancouver burnaby area. I like a turkey capicolli cold on white. Order a 6inch unless your sharing as these are big sandwiches. They also do breakfast which is great for Saturday mornings. Mostly I just love that it’s such a happy place.

Had my first sub at Pauls yesterday. Had the Pauls special. I have to go back and get another because it was so good I basically inhaled it. The second one, I will take my time and savor the 5 star sub. It’s a little expensive and you don’t get it right away. No drive through but it’s refreshing in this fast food Quik E Mart world.

Could it be possible that I actually considered removing a star based on the fact that the submarine sandwiches were too big?! Anyway… In the Lower Mainland, you’ve got very few sandwich shops that do it right and even fewer that can do a grilled sub to near perfection. There is only one place that I can recommend to friends and that is Paul’s Sub Shop. It’s filling, it’s a carnivores dream, and like any good grilled sandwich you’ve got to eat it before it gets soggy. The service is full of love coming from one of the nicest ladies imaginable and it would be impossible to find fault in her caring ways.
