We used to love this place, but under the new ownership, the quality of service is to be desired. Of their specialty drinks available(think lychee and rose tea), only thing available was Pepsi and 7up. We didn’t receive half the food we requested on the order card, as it seemed they were out of that too. Cash only, fine, but an empty ATM when we were told there was one on the premises? Bad form. My husband had to drive to the closest bank to find cash. Would not return, which is sad since it was once one of our favorite haunts.

Maybe I’m just being a spoiled little brat that’s living in the past but when you had«old posh» there’s no going back. Old posh you were able to choose your own veggies and the selections was what had me going back like crack addict trying to get their next fix. Taro, fresh bean curd, the little noodle things that looked like baby octopuses, and oh god, three different kind of mushrooms… HELLO you had me at mushrooms. The meat was much more fresh and you could dip it in your little egg concoction that, although made me weary of salmonella, was THEBOMB. They had something good here before and I came back over and over until… Shit don changed son. Today we came back with the slightest glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, we could experience even the slightest bit of nostalgia but instead were sadly disappointed. This experience is like sleeping with your ex boyfriend that one time and then realizing midway that you done fucked up. So, I’m sorry Posh, we will not be returning. It’s not me, it’s you. You changed, I deserve better, and I don’t love you anymore.

So sad to see what Posh has become… When it first opened back in the mid 2000s, they had much higher quality meat, all of their veggies and other ingredients were extremely fresh and tasty. Now you get low-grade cuts of meat, tiny amounts of sauces for seasoning, canned veggies(corn, mushrooms, etc), and lackluster service. You do get a lot of food, but if it’s only mediocre quality, does quantity matter? There are so many better restaurants with similar foods, where they have fresh(non-canned) ingredients. The only thing you’re getting at Posh is that it’s now pretty cheap. Take my advice and pay more for decent quality food. I’m not coming back.

I’ve never had sukiyaki hot pot before, so this was a new experience. I was expecting it to be similar to the traditional Chinese hot pot, but it definitely took me by surprise how different and unique it was. What a great experience. Service was outstanding. We popped by without realizing a reservation was required to use a voucher, and originally we were denied service but the waitress, was super sweet and managed to get us the table and allowed us to use the voucher. She checked on us often, she was friendly, smiley, and I definitely noticed her service wasn’t geared towards specific tables — she was this way with everyone including the very loud and obnoxious table next to us. She answered my questions about the sukiyaki without judgment and gave us tips on how to eat. Thanks again, Ch/Kristina! You were fantastic! Parking was easy, they have a small lot on the side to fit about 7 – 8 cars and you can turn in going eastbound on Kingsway. We went just before closing so it was easy to find a spot, but unsure how parking will be during busier hours. The food was good for its value — you get what you pay for. There isn’t too much variety but honestly, you should get full quite quickly from what’s on their menu anyway. The only thing that threw me off was their rule of requiring a reservation to use a voucher(Groupon, Social Shopper, Living Social) but I understand. I believe I only saw one line cook and I get that it can get overwhelming. Just a head’s up for those who want to redeem theirs, they also require you to book your reservation before 8. Apparently, they do have a cutoff time as well.

Locked out of the restaurant! We had been there one year ago, were not impressed but we were going to that neighborhood again and as my wife loves ramen, we got a voucher for«Sumo Ramen Noodle HotPot Lunch». We had a reservation for Saturday May 23rd at 12:30pm, arrived there 10 minutes early, found nobody so we left and came back at around 12:45pm.Two customers were waiting outside and two employees were arriving at this time as well(we actually recognized them from last year, at least the waitress). But it appeared they had no key to open the restaurant. They searched both of their cars extensively for 5 minutes and when we asked what was going on, the guy said they had to leave to get the key and wouldn’t be back before at least 30 minutes! We had to find another place to have lunch, which is not such a big deal as this area has lots of restaurant. At first it was quite entertaining watching the young couple trying to figure where the key could be. It kind of reminded us of our own youth. They seemingly had quite a party on Friday night(the girl especially really looked like she still had her Friday night clothes on), didn’t sleep much and had put stuff in their bodies that affected their ability to come to work prepared and on time .So we kind of sympathized with them, at least until we asked what was going on and the guy was unapologetic, making up a story about everything being the fault of the manager having giving them the wrong key(!?!)(why waste all this time searching themselves and their cars then if that had really been the case?) We thought he could at least say sorry(the guy/cook seemed to be at fault as the girl/waitress looked angry at him) and take responsibility. Instead, when I mentioned we were surprised that there was nobody at 12:20pm, he said it was normal since the place was not supposed to open before 12:30. I guess that should tell you about the professionalism of those people .I have never worked at a restaurant so I am not sure how long employees usually come before opening time to make things ready but at this place, apparently, no employee needs to come before opening time. I guess that might answer the question about freshness of food(food served on that Saturday clearly was not delivered or brought on the same day), as well as about waiting times(they have to make everything ready in the restaurant after opening time) that some other reviewers have mentioned… A good thing for us out of all this that might make a tip for those who are going west after leaving the restaurant: as the couple left the place(both in one car, surprising anyone who could have thought that one of them should have stayed in front of the door to welcome future customers and tell them about the situation) leaving no sign on the door, they took the back lane, which allowed them(and us behind them) to get much quicker back on Kingsway. It is sad to see this restaurant going downhill that way. I remember Posh on Broadway, that was a great place, very busy and with great food, it seemed well managed. Eating at this Posh Burnaby last year was quite a step down and now one has to think that this location, probably surviving on coupon offers, will have to shut down soon. I just hope that, since this restaurant serves Japanese food, people won’t associate it with Japanese service and professionalism. This kind of situation would never happen with Japanese management and employees. If you see eating out as an adventure, try this place, they might have something to satisfy your needs…

Bought the deal on , but quite disappointing. There was not enough food and the hotpot came with a clear chicken broth that has no flavour until we asked the server for some sukiyaki sauce. Probably won’t go back again. It’s not as good as before anymore.

Lost me as a customer. My order of veggies came in and I noticed three things: 1. Anything that isn’t a common vegetable comes canned(mushroom, fungi, sweet potato, etc.). 2. Half my order was missing. Upon inquiry, I was told that«If it didn’t come, then t means we don’t have it.» Okay, could’ve stated that on the ordering sheet. How does a hotpot place not have the bare basics of tofu and vermicelli? 3. We had a bunch of stuff we didn’t order: fish tofu, fozen tofu(the waiter tells us that that is indeed the«soft tofu» i ordered from the menu. Okay.) There were only two other tables in the restaurant on a Saturday night, which should already make you wonder. Tasty pork and beef slices are the only things keeping me from giving it one star. Service was average. May be back because the place offers a unique taste, but will not recommend.. There must have been a change in management, because I have been here a couple of times a few years back, and while the price has always been high, at least the food was fine and I left satisfied.

I will give this restaurant 4 stars for food quality and for friendly and helpful staff! Food was fresh, and there was a lot of it! We got Groupon deal as a gift and were pretty happy with everything, but knowing prices I would not be back without the coupon. Cleanliness of the place is a huge concern, dirty washrooms, no paper towels and overall place looks like in some stage of renovation. It you are all about cleanliness — don’t even think about coming here, for others — you’ll survive :) We had a reservation for Monday 8pm, not busy, food was served right away.

Never go here, not without pre-purchasing an online Groupon or similar coupon beforehand. It is the only way you will have a chance at getting your money’s worth. The name is misleading — there is absolutely nothing posh about this place. The experience: Stood there waiting 15 minutes, despite having a reservation and being reassured we would be seated«in a minute.» Drinks ordered 30 mins into our visit, only because I vigorously waved someone down, and despite being told right after being seated that someone would be «right back to take our drinks order.» Food was good once it came. Service was abominably slow, requires flagging staff with vigorous hand waving. Staff are friendly, overworked, as helpful as they can be. Based on experience from multiple visits it is highly likely they will screw up your order/bill. But they will try to fix it, eventually and kindly, once you point it out. Menu: instead of re-printing menus, owner has decided to use coloured tape and sharpies to cross out all of the many items that are no longer offered. Classy. Menu clearly offers much less than it used to(see photo). Bathroom: Passable, not great. Paper towel dispenser hanging crazily to one side(see photo). Cleanliness meets standards for an eating establishment. Food: Good quality beef and seafood, fresh veggies. No complaints about food quality. Food speed is variable, some orders known to take unusually long. Service: Our servers were trying hard to give good service and to smile. They were forgetful & flustered. Felt really bad for the floor team, obviously understaffed and the owner is clearly more interested in cutting corners than in providing good service. This is probably the reason for the auto-gratuity on the bills. Pricing: Prepare for 10% auto-gratuity. We tipped another 10% on top of this because of how hard the servers were working, and the grief they were putting up with. Menu pricing is totally NOT worth it, do not bother coming without coupons.

I give this place a 3 star only because I got a social shopper deal and it was wasn’t so bad in terms of value. I bought the 26.00 socialshopper deal only because I felt like hotpot where I don’t need to prepare for the food. The deal included 2 bottomless drinks, 2 plate of beef, 2 plate of pork and an assorted plate of veggies. It wasn’t bad for me and my bf to go cause we’re not big eaters though he was hungry later on in the night. The only thing I like about this place would be their bottomless drinks where you can try other drinks on the menu. But I have to say half the time the drinks were pretty watery. In other words, I like the idea but not so much of their drinks alone. The place was pretty dead given that it was a monday. But they chose to close down half the restaurant. In a business perspective that doesn’t look good at all. The design of the place looks pretty ghetto because I’ve been here when they first open like number of years ago and it looks exactly the same. In fact, I feel they went down hill. The service was kinda meh. Nothing special about it. I would only come back for a deal. Though it’s not exactly worth the drive out there because it’s pretty far for me. BTW it’s cash only but they have an ATM machine in their restaurant.

The atmosphere was good but the service was slack. Every time we asked for something, it at least took them more than 10 minutes. We waited for pork and beef for a long time, so we had to start with vegetables in sukiyaki soup which was mainly soy sauce and butter. It tasted so wired! After the dinner that day, my boyfriend got diarrhea due to their pork. Anyway, won’t go there again.

How I heard of this place: Bayan gave me three lunch options when I arrived, starving, at his home in Yaletown: phở, sukiyaki, deep-fried chicken wings. I chose to try something new and Posh Charcoal Collaboration Dining; Posh for short, was it! Claiming to be the first exclusive Japanese Sukiyaki restaurant in North America, Posh is Bayan’s favorite for sukiyaki in Vancouver. Type of cuisine: Sukiyaki: «Sukiyaki is a popular dish in Japan. Suki means „as you like it“ and „yaki“ means „grill“ in Japanese. It mainly consists of thinning sliced beef, simmered in a pot based sukiyaki sauce. vSukiyaki is a dish made with a salty-sweet sugar and soy-sauce base in Japan. BUT here at Posh, we use a healthier solution, to eliminate sugar but rather to use a combination of 8 fruits and vegetables to create a natural sweetness. Sukiyaki is served with a small dish of raw egg, thoroughly beaten with chopsticks until it is a uniform, bright yellow color. Take the beef, onions, etc with your chopsticks and dip it into the raw egg, then eat.» Ambiance: «The second location first opened its doors in December 2007. This Posh location was a big milestone for the organization as it was only 12 months after the initial launch of the Richmond location. The capacity of this facility is 120 guests; it offers a larger more comfortable location with booth seating suitable to groups of all sizes. This Vancouver Broadway location is also equipped with a VIP dining room designed to seat 20 people through two large tables with TV for presentations and sports games. This private room allows for personalized service requests while great for hosting birthdays, occasions and group gatherings. We invite you to visit our Broadway facilities.» Located at Broadway and Burrard with underground pay parking at the back, the restaurants welcomes you with dark, bold colors in black, red and white. Tall-backed booth seating creates an air of privacy as diners at the large booths and tables enjoy their unlimited vegetable plates and cuts of thinly sliced beef and pork. What I ordered: Both my dining companion and I opted for the sukiyaki lunch special($ 13.95 each) with all-you-can-eat meat and vegetables of our choosing. We selected a plate full of bean sprouts, pumpkin, winter squash, soft tofu and tofu puffs, taro, yams, bamboo shoots, bean curd, baby corn, enoki and shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, udon and vermicelli noodles and other such goodness. «We make you a deal, try the Certified Angus Beef because you certainly won’t regret it. After all, only 8% of beef in Canada qualify for this prestige and Posh would like you to try from the very best MOO…» What I loved: I loved the beef, thinly sliced and quickly prepared, the taste of the sukiyaki sauce and the fresh greens served on our plate of vegetables. Why I loved it: The food is a do-it-yourself, interactive experience and can be enjoyed for hours(no seating limit) as you savor every bite of the food in front of you and fill yourself up! Cost: Average to high($ 13-$ 20 per lunch)

I was here for lunch and I have to admit I didn’t know there was a posh location here(since the Richmond and Broadway one closed). The décor and music was really nice. Since it wasn’t busy our waitress was really attentive and she was really nice. The only thing that was a little surprise for me was the price for lunch(which I’m assuming it’s the same for dinner) $ 17! Before it was way cheaper for lunch. For our first order they gave us exactly what we ordered. For our second order they did give us half the beef we ordered. As I said it wasn’t busy at all so if we just asked for more after we finished. But I can understand how irritating it must be when it’s busy and they don’t bring what you ordered. I gave posh 4 stars because I haven’t had it for so long. However for $ 17 I can just go eat all you can eat hot pot and have a menu 10x bigger

My husband and I went this sucking place at 2pm yesterday, they were not busy at all! we rarely go to AYCE unless we are super hungry. We ordered 5 plates of beef, they just brought us 1 which has only 4 slices and warn us for the charge of wasting food. No matter how many orders we ask for, they just brought u 1or 2 plates. We waste 1 hour in the damn place still leaving with hungry feelings. Moreover, their price is not $ 11.88 now but $ 17.99! Don’t spend ur money to get cabbage in soy sauce only! Go anywhere else!

My wife and I purchased a groupon for this place and phoned to book a reservation. It was a $ 115 for $ 35. The service was good and our particular server was very friendly and pleasant. Food itself was good but was not worth the $ 115 they claim it to be. We could go to the Keg and get a pretty nice meal with wine for that. Also for $ 20 each you can have all you can eat there vs the groupon deal, which yes you get drinks and a view side things included but only 4 very small dishes of meat. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this place through the groupon, but I might for the all you can eat because again the food did taste pretty good.

To give them two stars is just because we got good service from our polite and friendly waitress. Otherwise, I won’t suggest this place to anybody. We just realized that their all-you-can-eat hot pot(or sukiyaki) is $ 17.98 per person after we already showed them the Groupon which I got for $ 39 for a «set meal». We got two trays of beef and two trays of pork which all thinly sliced, vegetable plate, 2 soft drinks, and the fried udon dish. The meat slices were so thin. We didn’t get much after cooking in the soup base. Total 4 trays of cooked meat probably turned out to 1 full Chinese bowl. That’s all we had! I would rather get the regular all-you-can-eat option. The all-you-can-eat price doesn’t include the bottomless soft drink($ 4 each) and the fried udon which I don’t care that much.
The service was good. We went there at 1pm on a Saturday. There were only 2 customers when we walked in. They include 10% service charge on the bill. I was surprised to see it but given the service wasn’t bad and our waitress was really nice so I paid that anyway.

Where do I start? We called in a few hours ahead and made a reservation — with coupon. When we arrived we walked in and was seated promptly and told that the coupon was for a feast meal and it came with a drink from the non-alcoholic drink menu. He soon leaves. OK. From here on out, everything starts going downhill. A server comes and brings the meat and a large dish of veggies, noodles, and what not on it. We tell him what we would like the soup base to be for our hot pot and he looked up at us for a moment as though in shock, but it sunk in seconds later after we repeated what we said and he left. A female server returns and brings the soup pan, puts it on the burner, turns on the burner. She takes our order for drinks and then leaves. We soon notice that our table does not have any serving utensils. All it had when we sat down was the kettle with extra water, bowls and dining chopsticks for two and soya sauce. She comes back with our drinks and then we ask her for the scoop spoons for the hotpot and the serving chopsticks. She returns soon later only bringing us the scoop ladles, We had to take dining chopsticks from another table to use as our serving ones. The rest of the night the servers did not come up to check on how everything was. The drinks tasted watered down and kind of disgusting(we ordered the lychee galore and passion fruit ice tea). When we went to pay for our meal, I could not help but notice the handwritten signs taped to the cashier and the walls. I would think for a restaurant which has had some success for a few years and pretty decent décor, you can print some signs out of a printer with some fantastic typefaces! Handwritten signs are for small cafes and mom&pop restaurants that are ¼th size of your restaurant. Although leaving disappointed there was some good points. Posh has a very good soup base for their hotpot(we ordered pork peppercorn). We left filled. Still disappointed. What happened? I only ask because I’ve been here before a few years ago and it was way better service.

The overall experience was not good for several reasons. We ended up having to ask the server several times to give us the food we ordered! The three of us(two guys, one girl) were quite hungry and each time we placed an order, about 1⁄3 of what we ordered would come out. The first 30 mins we only had boiling vegetables… I’m not expert at AYCE but I’m pretty sure meat needs to be involved. The guy in the back literally pulls out already sliced meat from a fridge(i could see it from my table). It was really interesting to see him ignore orders for a while on purpose. The server was polite and the only one in the entire restaurant tending to 8 other tables at least. This to me screams that the restaurant is cheap if they feel one server/busser is adequate for an entire restaurant. If you order fish tofu, prepare to see something never seen before: One tofu piece sliced so thin you barely know it’s there. The soup base was good but the negative experience out weighs any positives. My friend who has been here previous years says the menu items have decreased significantly. My boyfriend was annoyed that there was only two meats(beef and pork) and NO fresh seafood whatsoever. Make sure you double check the receipt, we were waaay overcharged on the sauce but this was resolved. I will not be coming back.

AYCE, Japanese hot pot, and it’s Posh in the Burnaby area. I have only been to the Richmond and the West Broadway location, so I guess I can compare to their others. I definately like the space and seating of this location, especially when it comes to comparing this one to Richmond. You definately are not cramped(like sitting right next to eachother with no breathing space) and the restaurant itself is just bigger. With the extra room, it allows you to eat more cause your eating comfortably! And that is a great relief, especially when you do realize there is alot of arm movement due to the fact you are cooking the food yourself, and need to ‘swish’ the meat in the pot and do not need your elbow to hit someone’s face! I have to say that the service here is not bad, as once we put our order in, the food came in an instant. The time we were there was about 8PM, and they were pretty packed and were still able to serve us quick with all our demands, so thumbs up on this. The price comes out to almost $ 20 a head after tip, and this is not like Chinese hot pot, where the menu is limited, but it is a pretty good menu if you have people with allergies to shellfish, as there is no seafood on the menu. The choices of meat are pork and beef, the soup base is sukiyaki(where you add it, and also water) and you control the soup flavour in some ways, and then you get a wide assortment of veggies, and noodles(especially the instant, yum!). When you come prepare to eat, and eat, and eat and then really feel it by the end of the night, but usually it’s always good times especially with like a party of 4 as you always seem to eat more with more people.
