The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Burnaby

One of the better Kegs I’ve been to. Excellent service and food always taste great during regular times. Food was average during Dine Out Vancouver but it’s understandable as they had to prepare a bunch of dishes in advance in order to meet the high volume and demand especially around that time. Once they screwed up my order and offered a replacement but I told them not to worry about it, in the end they gave me a discount. Two thumbs up for trying their best to make it right!

Wow. Just wow. I came here with my boyfriend for dinner one night, expecting to wait (silly me). We didn’t have to wait because we were only a party of 2. We got seated immediately and promptly asked the basic server questions (any wine, etc. so they can take away the wine glasses), which is fine, it’s part of the job. We made our order of escargots, french onion soup and a steak to SHARE.
So we come to commenting on service, and wow. It was excellent; above and beyond what I would have expected at all. The escargots and french onion soup came with 2 sets of utensils (for my boyfriend and I to use, as we stated we were going to share). They promptly removed dishes as we finished our first two orders (asking first). Then came the steak… Knowing that we were sharing, they prepared steak and split it in half, giving us our own dish and utensils along with unsplit portions of vegetables and potatoes for each of us. This is the best service I’ve had so far, so considerate and friendly.
Onto reviewing the food,
— escargots: 5/​5, each escargot had it’s own mushroom accompanying them, we dipped the bread into the remaining cheese because it was so well seasoned and flavoured
— french onion soup: 3.5÷5, a bit too much cheese, overpowered the soup, but nonetheless the cheese and soup were delicious
— steak: 5/​5, delicious and done perfectly (medium rare) with creamy mashed potatoes and lightly seasoned vegetables
Verdict: Service is excellent, food is great! Come and try if you’re passing by and don’t want hotdogs, it’s right beside Costco! Expect to wait a LONG time if you’re a group greater than 2 – 4.

Nothing like a good steak dinner with your friends on a Friday night. It is just beside Costco with amples of parking space. Going in, the waitresses were very friendly. I could tell it was going to be one of those epic nights at the Keg. I ordered the rib steak. It was very tender. I choice the baked potato since I needed the carbs for my meal. It was cooked very well. The waitress asked us if we would want dessert, but then again, 20oz of cooked meat along with a baked potato is already good enough for tonight.
I would definitely come back to this place to enjoy a good steak again.

We received a gift card for The Keg, so we stopped by this location for a Monday dinner. The parking lot is big, and surprisingly quite full for a Monday night.
The seated us quickly and the service was great. The highlight of my night was the three cheese butter provided with the bread and the Baked Brie. Oh man, that baked brie was the best I’ve ever had. It was warm and gooey, served with warm, buttered crostinis and a side of basil pesto and red pepper jelly. So, so, so yummy. We’ve already made plans to come back to enjoy their happy hour and reorder this baked brie again.
The only thing I’m tempted to dock a star for is the value. We thought the steaks were a bit pricey, but it seems no one else is complaining about that because it was busy on a Monday night! If you’re on a budget, they do have Casual Plates at wallet-​friendly prices, which is awesome.

I’m not usually in this area, but after a day of errands I came here for Appy Hour.
The server we had was fantastic. Clearly, someone knows her customer service! Very refreshing indeed! (Y)
Anyway was seated promptly. The server knew the specials and gave a bowl of the in house chips, which were delicious btw.
Ordered the mushrooms neptune, calamari, and baked garlic shrimp. The calamari was alright. But the shrimp and, especially, the mushrooms neptune was omg delicious. Words cannot describe, but I will definitely order it everyone I come here. Who thought cream cheese would taste so good with mushrooms.
Again server was awesome. Checked in on us at appropriate times and not too often, like when we were low on drinks. Drinks came quickly. Bill and credit card machine came promptly when requested. Such simple things, but makes a huge difference in my books. Food was 4 stars out of 5, but service definitely bumps it up a notch!

I am really disappointed I was so looking forward to a great steak it my birthday my husband took me out and I get to choose a restaurant of my choice! What I get was over done steak cool potatoes and cold vegetables I didn’t want to complain but the waitress didn’t even ask if it was an occasion I could have chosen any where but I choose there it was not special at all. Never again

I came here for dinner tonight. It was easy to find parking as this Keg has a big parking attached to it.
The servers inside would smile to us when we walked into the restaurant. We felt they were friendly. Our server was great as well. He asked for drinks right after we sat down. He gave us enough time to review the menu and ordered for us. He would check on us during the meal.
We ordered prime rib and rib steak. Both of them were excellent. We had prime rib at the Keg once a year. They could maintain the quality very well. They were $ 30 or more per dish but we paid for good quality. The side for our dishes was fries and mashed potato. Both were excellent as well.
The only thing we did not like was the ambience. It was like a 80’s restaurant being traditional and old style. Other than that, we loved the food here.

wasn’t able to make a reservation, but that is probably because of the holiday season, which is understandable. My boyfriend and I ordered a tuna tartar to start, I got the prime rib and he got the sirloin.
The tuna tartar was amazing! I would definitely recommend it. My prime rib was also delicious, super soft and juicy. My boyfriend’s sirloin however was overcooked. Seeing that we both work in the service industry, we didn’t make a big deal out of it and simply just requested for a remake. The server was apologetic and the manager or the kitchen manager (wasn’t sure which) came out and apologized as well. He offered a salad (which we politely declined) as well as paying for my boyfriend’s dinner. They brought out the remake pretty quickly, and this time it was made perfectly. Both the manager and the server came back to check on us and overall turned a bad situation into a good one!
Good job Keg! Will be back for sure!

This is a great place for a quaint dinner date. I definitely don’t recommend bringing hungry teenagers here. Unless of course your name is Mr. Gates or Mr. Trump haha

The lobster and shrimp salad was fabulous! Absolutely delicious! Hubby had the peppercorn steak which he absolutely loved!

Absolutely love this Keg. It makes me laugh when I see some of the complaints being «the place is so busy» — yep, it is, because it’s so awesome! Only complaints are that it is frequently impossible to find parking. It would be nice if the city removed the No Parking/​Stopping signs — can’t figure out why as it is a nice wide street. Also would be nice if children under three weren’t allowed. I’m guessing children have always been allowed, it’s just that times have changed, and my generation (55+) would never have contemplated bringing a child to a higher-​end restaurant.
I’m a creature of habit, so I always get Mushrooms Neptune for an appetizer, Steak & Lobster for dinner, and the best cheesecake ever, for dessert (usually get the dessert to go because I’m too stuffed to eat it there).

Gave the Keg in Burnaby another try after receiving a giftcard from the manager. The food was good but unfortunately again, the service was subpar. We had to ask for water, for a wine list and menus and for cutlery. None of these were provided.
We both ordered prime rib classic dinners with a lobster tail to split. The prime rib was cooked beautifully, the lobster tail was succulent. The salads that came with the classic dinner were good, I ordered Caesar my husband ordered wedge with buttermilk ranch and if I knew it was that good I would have ordered that instead of the Caesar, it was delicious and in my opinion a highlight of the meal.
I really do think this location needs to remind their staff about the little things that can make or break a dining experience.

We came in for an earlyish dinner on a sunday. It was busy but the service was still pretty good! Our dinner’s were a little delayed and our server came to notify us it was slammed in the kitchen. We didn’t mind as we weren’t in a rush by any means. Wish the keg had a few more draft beer options, and more local ones at that! Steaks were cooked to perfection!

5 stars for Michelle for excellent customer experience right out of the gate. We were told there is no reservation, so we came early, we were shown a tiny curve table (suitable for a 2 person date) which is too small for 3 adults. The regular reception hostess keep saying no, it will be an hour wait. Michelle (I think she is a manager) step in and quickly changed us to a 4 person booth right across from our original table. It just needed a quick wipe and table set. She was friendly, efficient and really impress us.
The food as always is good, the service is excellent. Our friend had the rare 30% off card so our meal was very economical.

Amazing. That’s all I can say. Although I was pretty impatient with the one hour wait. But it was all worth it in the end. The service, atmosphere, food, choices, prices, everything was amazing and I cannot wait to go back again!!! This was a perfect end to my Saturday night the food was just too delicious! It is lobster season right now so I recommend everyone getting lobster! It was so fresh and juicy and just perfectly made. Thanks for the great night The Keg!

I usually go to The Keg in Coquitlam but, I decided to try this location for my birthday dinner.
I came with a group of four people including me. We came around. 6pm, the parking lot was quite pack. But, we immediately got our parking in front and also our seats. Our server introduced him as Brad, he was really friendly and very professional. I usually get the steaks but, I wanted to try their pistachio crusted salmon. My mom also ordered it, and we both agreed on how delicious was it. The salmon was perfectly cooked and moist. At the end of our meal, my bf decided to surprise me with a crème brûlée. the crème brûlée was so creamy! And the top part was not too sweet either. Everything tasted good in here! Plus, our server was extremely nice. Overall, everyone was satisfied and would totally recommend this location!

I went to the Keg to celebrate my brother’s birthday. We started our meal with the tuna tartare which was surprisingly tasty and was a great size for sharing. Whenever I go to the keg I always get the Keg classic prime rib meal. It’s the best deal if you’re ordering a cut of meat on the menu. You get your meat and all the sides! I ordered the caesar salad and twice baked potato to go with it. My mom also ordered the same thing and my brother ordered the special, iron steak with a skewer of prawns. We really enjoyed our meal and they included a complimentary billy miner pie because it was my brothers birthday.

My boyfriend booked a reservation for my birthday.
When we got there we found there was nowhere to park. When I mentioned that inside the hostess responded «oh just park at Costco». Really? Does Costco know they are being used for overflow parking?
We went in and were brought to a tiny table next to a large party with kids. Like right next to them. Cramped in the corner.
We asked for a better table. The hostess told us this was all they had My bf asked why they didn’t reserve a better table since he had mentioned it was a special occasion. The hostess suggested we wait a while for a better table. No thanks.
We just walked out and went to a much better restaurant where we were treated to awesome food and exceptional service.
We will not be going back to the Keg. There are just too many better choices here.

Huge place reservation is an advantage, free parking, all cards and cash ok, family/​group/​kids friendly… ambiance american/canadian.service is excellent, food quality great… huge serving… high end… for steak lovers this is the right place for you… the steak lobster combo is one of the best bet…

Our go to steak place!
My husband and I enjoy the keg its our go to. Reasonable price, great portions, good service. Only thing we don’t like is the long waits and no reservations. So we try to avoid busy dinner rush. This location is convenient to us close to our place. We almost always get the same thing unless they run out which has happened in numerous occasion. Prime rib classic, comes with caesar salad, choice of potato garlic mash is my fave, and mixed veggies. Great value! If we’re really hungry we start off with an appy we’ve tried fried calamari, beef carpaccio, tuna tartare and others. Food is alway good.
