After my current hair stylist decided to relocate to the US, my hunt began for someone new and knowledgeable. Not an easy feat since I am super picky when it comes to my hair. After trying a few different stylist at different salons to audition a permeate replacement… I finally found one for all my hair needs. As a woman who frequents salons since I am a slave to my hair –regular haircuts and colour are a must. Lucky for me, I found Molly at Angles. Not only did she give me a fantastic new colour and cut, but she is just so sweet, personable and really knows her stuff. She is fairly new to this salons location, since she worked for years at a different salon in the NW. I have never had a problem getting an appointment and Molly works such flexible hours so she is also available nights and weekends too. If you are looking for a new stylist, make an appointment with Molly and she will take great care of you. So happy with this local find.

Like so many people out there, I had purchased a Groupon for Angles Salon. It expired a number of months ago. No worries though. Alberta has a policy that any certificates you purchase you can still use the value you spent at the establishment. I guess they should say all establishments except for Angles Salon in Royal Oak. I called one day to book an appointment for a haircut. I ended up having to call back and cancel because I couldn’t get into my Groupon account to print the certificate. When I told the receptionist my predicament, she told me that they have new owners who have decided that any expired Groupons can only be used towards products NOT services. WTF? They can’t do that. What a bunch of bullshit. The Groupon is valid towards ANYTHING at this place. They can’t pick and choose what they want to accept the Groupon for. It’s against the law. I contacted Groupon who said they would have Angles call me however I never heard from anyone. They obviously don’t give a shit about their customers. I will never ever go to this place even though it’s conveniently located across the street from me. The whole idea that management will not honor a certificate and basically changed the rules for it pisses me off. DONOTGOHERE!!! Management sucks.

For nearly 7 years I cut my own hair where I give credit to a few stylists that left me with horrible cuts in the past. As a result I became extremely untrustworthy of anyone but me touching my hair. However my lack of confidence with salons soon changed when I decided to have my hair professionally done at Angles. I booked the appointment over the phone where I requested for a hair dresser who was experienced with Asian hair; the receptionist strongly recommended Derek. Upon walking in, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist. It was only a few minutes of waiting when Derek came out and introduced himself. He asked me to give him a brief history about my hair and the style that I wanted. Because I had no idea how I wanted my hair to be cut, he happily gave me a few suggestions of what he could and would like to do where I quickly agreed. Over the course of my hair being washed and cut, Derek put me at ease where we talked quite a bit and cracked a few jokes. Because he knew that this was a «first experience» in my hair being cut by someone else for a while, he explained how he was cutting it and always gave me room for accommodation in changing it up. In the end I was extremely, extremely happy with my hair — the cost of a haircut is a little pricey, but for a good cut it was definitely worth the money. Already I have requested for Derek twice, where he has always done a splendid job in making hair look edgy yet elegant. The staff as a whole is pleasant and the atmosphere is a warm and welcoming place — highly recommend

I’m always on a quest to find a good hair stylist, so I gave Angles a try. I booked with Niki for a cut and color. The salon is pretty average inside, nothing special but nice. The receptionist looked like she had a makeup case throw up on her, a bit scary. I waited only a short while, then Niki came and introduced herself. She asked to take my coat and hung it up for me. Once she had me sitting we talked about what I wanted, I asked for a razored cut and a solid chocolate brown, not too short. She seemed confident this would be easy. She asked me if I wanted anything to drink and got me a water. They had a huge stack of magazines to riffle through. After the color was all done she shampooed my hair and gave such a good scalp massage! I didn’t want her to stop! I was all relaxed while she cut my hair and we chatted quite a bit. In the end it turned out just the way I wanted! She got my coat for me and told me to have a good day. The cut and color cost $ 130, a bit pricey but it was worth it! I will definitely return to Niki, she was friendly and cared about doing a good job. She is good if you want a fun, funky style, highly recommended!
