Nostalgia by Jeffrey M. Oh man … This was such a key part of my university experience. If you wanted bubble tea — and if you’re an Asian university or high school student, you generally want bubble tea on a semiregular basis — you would come here with your friends before class or during lunch hour. If you had some time to kill, you could play arcade games, but more commonly, rent a pool table or a foosball table. And their foosball tables are super-fast! My friends were so pro at the game. I was like the kid who gets picked last in gym class lol =/Except they were always trying to teach me, so I was really picked first. Reverse logic much lol? The arcade games themselves weren’t very memorable and didn’t seem to be of very high quality, although they were probably sufficient for the ‘below-Mac Hall’ kind of feel. The bubble tea was also definitely not the best I’ve ever had. It was really kind of inconsistent — sometimes it’d be fluid-like, other times it’d be way too icy/slushy. Sometimes it’d be too watery, sometimes it’d be too powdery. I can’t recall it ever being just right :( The owners are pretty cooperative and you can rent the place out for tournaments and such. Also, if you join some student clubs, you can get discounts on the place. Overall, I think there’s a lot of room for improvement, especially in the bubble tea(surprisingly, some of the places along the east coast have great bubble tea! Which may have affected my judgment =/). The prices are kind of expensive, but appropriate given the environment. Good campus hangout place! Not one of the things I miss most about the U of C but … sometimes I wish my new school had this.
