As an avid book lover, I stop by Chapters on a regular basis. Always a great selection. I have never been to this particular location at Dalhousie but knew what to expect since they seem to be the only business that is consistent between all their locations. The staff are friendly and helpful here. Not that I required it but was asked on several occasions if I needed assistance. The store is well laid out and fantastic selection of books and other items. The children’s section was very well stocked as well as their gift section, which I always love browsing. Such cute things if you are ever looking for a non-book gift for someone. There prices are reasonable and also have a reward/points card system as well. The points add up quick if you shop like I do. They also have a Starbucks, which I believe they all do since I have never been in a Chapters that doesn’t have a Starbucks? Great experience on all fronts and will be back again.

I had to buy a new book for work, and we decided to head up to Chapters as they are open till 10ish. I love going to bookstores, so I was happy. I was having a hard time finding the book I wanted, it was super easy to find staff, that could pull it up and walked me over to the area, which I appreciated. They have computers for you to look up as well, this book was just in a specific spot. There is Starbucks there as well and plenty of seats, you can make a whole evening or afternoon out of it. There is a huge parking lot, so never a problem finding parking and being as large as it, and well laid out you feel like you are by yourself, instead of surrounded by people.

Nice store. I wish they had a greater selection for some reason. There’s nothing out of the ordinary — mainly run of the mill books. McNally Robinson did it right, while they were alive. Decent magazine selection. I wish they had more chairs in the aisles to sit and relax on. Great staff that are there when you need them, and leave you alone when you don’t.

This my fellow Unilocalers, marks my favourite Chapters location in Calgary. But in all fairness, you know what I love most about Chapters? It’s consistency. No matter which Chapters you go to in Canada, it’s pretty much the same. It’s a little piece of home no matter which city you find yourself in. A few reasons why this particular location is my fave in town is because: #1 — This particular location is ouber easy to get to. It’s at Dalhousie station, which means you can hop on any train and get there! #2 — I have a lot of memories at this Chapters. I’m talkin’ past school mates, past boyfriends, past coffee dates. Sigh, memories! #3 — There’s a whack of things to do in the neighbourhood. You can have coffee at Chapters, pick up some reading material, grab a bite at one of the many local restaurants(Earls, Boston Pizza, Dairy Queen, etc), you can go grocery shopping(Safeway), hit up the Dollar store on the corner, and even walk over to Northland Mall(no more than a 15 minute walk). #4 — The staff is friendly So yeah, while Chapters is Chapters, chances are MORE likely that you’ll find me at this one than at any other location in the city. If you’re in the area, drop by, let’s do lunch!

Chapters is huge and almost exactly the same in every location. The Dalhousie location has a larger than normal children’s section; but the trademark large fiction and literature section is here as well, as is the great magazine selection with mags you can’t find in most everyday places. The day I was in, they had an author signing. I have no idea who the guy was, but it’s cool they support(I’m assuming local) authors. Good place to find any book you’re looking for and to just spend time browsing…
