Definitely my favourite Elite event yet! Absolutely amazing evening — flawlessly run, amazing food, gorgeous presentation of dishes, a great group of food lovers and food makers all mingling. A win-win-win-win situation :) Loved how intimate and busy the event managed to feel, while making it completely possible to have some great conversations AND try amazing foods. It was also my first time trying out molecular gastronomy, which I now love — who says you shouldn’t play with your food?! My favourite was the chicken from Mango Shiva — so melt-in-your-mouth delicious I almost cried. I also adored the smash-your-own cocktails from Raw Bar. Not only were they fun to ‘make’, but I loved that they were adding ingredients with syringes and a vintage perfume atomizer — it was like watching performance art :) It was really wonderful to also talk to the staff from the restaurants — they were all on top form and really interested in answering questions about ‘how on EARTH do you get gazpacho to stay on a stick like that’ and genuinely pleased when you complimented them on how delicious everything was. Not only did I get to try some amazing foods, I got to try things I’d usually avoid or wouldn’t order– and I liked them! Thanks Engineered Eats! for widening my views on what counts as delicious eats!
