terrible manicures. I only went here because i received a giftcard… the nail polish is thick and clumpy WHYCANTTHEYJUSTUSEOPI. the service is definitely not the best… I wanted to pay for my manicure BEFORE I got it but they wouldn’t let me. Not to mention the manicures and everything are ridiculously overpriced. i paid triple the price I normally would for a manicure but I literally paint nails nicer than them.

I was reticent to return as the last time I had a facial there(a few years back) it was easily the worst I had ever experienced. However, I had a gift certificate I needed to use so gave it another try– and I am glad I did. Anjelika was my esthetician and she was excellent. She clearly is very experienced and did a phenomenal facial. I will return to her.

This place is pretty pretentious if you don’t appear to have a lot of money. I came in wanting a haircut and the receptionist looked at me like I couldn’t afford it. She started talking about the level of stylists and I am pretty easy going so I said… ‘whoever is available first.’ Again, she gave me another look. So I decided to change my mind and walked out, never going to a place like that again.

A friend had gotten her eyebrows done here, and said they had done a really good job. I’m pretty paranoid about my eyebrows so I figured this would be high end enough to be a good job. The lady on the phone to book appointments was very friendly, so that was good! However I waited for at least half an hour, while there were employees chatting and not seeming to be up to much! When I got in, she began to talk for probably 10 – 15 minutes about the acne I have on my forehead. It’s not bad, and can be concealed but I’m still very insecure about it. I feel like she gave some good advice, however she went on about how I needed to stop drinking milk… and I’m lactose intolerant :/ The job she did was very nice though! My brows matched, she didn’t take off too much, and it seemed really smooth and well done. I was listening to her explain a product you can buy so the hair doesn’t grow back too quickly, and I think she assumed I wanted it. So I bought a quite pricey product when I realllyyy didn’t need or want to. *This is my fault just wish there was more communication!* I thought she was going to apply it for free, not add it to my bill. Overall, for a small service like this I would go back, because I know they’ll do a good job. I just need to be a bit more assertive I suppose!

Eveline Charles Spa is cold, small, unwelcoming and in need of renovation. The floors locker rooms and bathrooms are dirty, everything is shabby and uncomfortable. The fake fireplace was broken when I was there on the coldest day of the year. There is no real lounge area, other than a few hard leather benches. The staff is forced to hard sell products which ruins the spa experience, and the prices are as high as the experience is low. Go anywhere else — a little strip mall nail spa would be a much, much better choice for nails, facials, everything! Finally, the hotline reservation staff are always cold and dismissive and do try to add costly services without full disclosure: be careful…

Today I had the luxury of having the day unchained from the cubicle and was able to spend my hours with one of my favorite girls at this spa. I requested the Massage, Pedicure and facial package, but something happened in the communication chain and I was booked for a massage, pedicure and manicure. They tried to tell me it was because I requested the Results package — but that one included a facial not a massage, so not really sure what happened there. My lovely had also hoped for the facial service and was booked in for a massage too. Super First World Problems, right? So, looking past this mix up, we opted to make the best of what we were schedule for. The massage was okay. The masseuse listened to what I hoped for and made note of the areas I hoped she would concentrate on. Her technique was good, the ambiance was not so fabulous. I am spoiled from other spas I think. I like having scented candles or aromatherapy of some sort to soothe me. I like the lights dimmer. I prefer my music slightly quieter and I don’t care to hear the rumblings of Crate and Barrel’s storage room shake the walls. After the massage I went for my manicure and pedicure and although I didn’t expect to have a manicure, the girl was great. She indulged my pinterest inspired need to have an accent nail and even fixed it twice for me. My lovely friend joined me for the pedicure portion and we got to giggle and gossip the hour away, I like that they gift you with the sample bottle of the colour you chose for your fingers and toes, I loved the paraffin wax treatment. We were told to go and change back into our street clothes before they painted our toe nails to ensure they wouldn’t be smudged which was a smart move(although as I have been spoiled at other spas, I would have been okay lounging in my housecoat while sipping cucumber and lemon water too if that was an option). Overall, this is a pretty bare bones spa. The change room is teeny tiny, the«lounge area is fairly cramped and there is no self serve for water or tea(that I was made aware of anyway). The lights are too bright for relaxation, the music too loud. And the receptionist would walk in from the salon area and her heels would clack on the wood floor causing a distraction from a moment of tranquility. If you are opting for a whole day experience, I would look elsewhere. This place is okay if you are seeking the experience of a more upscale manicure/pedicure.

I have been going to E.C. for the past 5 years and I have always gone to see the same stylist. Her name is Ashton. She now works at the new location downtown Calgary. She is FANTASTIC!!! I have to say that I have never gotten any spa or nail treatments done at E.C., so I can’t comment on the professionalism or treatment in general. That being said, I am a huge fan of my stylist and I always enjoy going to see her. I can understand the previous comments about«snotty» receptionist etc. But, I have to somewhat sympathize with employers… people seem great on a resume and then they turn out to be crap. Everyone has had a bad experience somewhere. I won’t be saying anything negative about E.C., because I always enjoy being there and chatting, laughing and getting a great haircut, color etc from Ashton. Ladies, if you’re looking for a new stylist… look no further.

When booking the appointment, you go through a. I guess it’s a hotline. While booking the appointment the lady on the phone asked if I would like a scented massage balm. I agreed. Who wouldn’t? Thought«that was nice of her to ask…» Went to massage, receptionists were miserable and unhelpful but the therapist was wonderful. The scented balm was like orange-y goodness. All done, time to get dressed, time to pay up. «Um, why is there a charge on here for 14 $ for massage balm?» «because you requested scented balm» «Yes, I was asked if I wanted it, I didn’t know I would have to sell my soul» the 14 year old snobby receptionists were not understanding why scented balm at the hefty price of 14 $ would be upsetting. I was sad because the chick on the phone forgot to mention it was not only extra, not only like 5 or 7 dollars, but 14? IT’s not even like they gave me a little jar to take home. You know how some places give you the oil they used? Nope, it was soaked up by my skin and I should’ve enjoyed my 8 million dollar lotion all week by not showering. What’s the point of getting a massage when you have benefits if you end up fronting tip and MASSAGEBALMFEES? Brutal. Haven’t been back since. Still super disappointed since it’s a lovely spa and the massage was nice. Left a bad, orange-y taste in my mouth.
