Room was typical hotel. Only has a buffet for breakfast of which the restaurant staff is very accommodating. Front desk staff and shuttle staff lacking in personality and desire to take care of customers.

Ok… I don’t enjoy leaving bad reviews. But I just have to tell it like it is. I dread staying at the Executive in Calgary. Ugh. While you do get a good first impression in the lobby area, when you get over to the one tiny elevator you get your first taste of disappointment. The hallways are weird, like a corridor in a castle dungeon. Inside the room is even worse than the hall. I don’t know where to start. It’s so dark! There are dark wood floors, which on their own could be fine. But dark floors make the room very dark and cold feeling. The windows are quite small and the bedspread is black, which just seek the room seem even darker. A black bedspread? Why?! My other big annoyance is the actually lighting in the rooms. All pot lights everywhere. It’s very gloomy feeling with the light blaring down at you and no lamps lighting up the ceiling. Oh forgive me, there is one lamp. One lamp on the desk, which I promptly move to the bedside table because I hate the pot light glaring down on me when I’m in bed. Yuck. Saying all that cosmetic stuff, if you just want a clean room for the night it’s fine. But when I have a 20 hr layover, I hate spending any time in the room. Plus, I don’t get a good sleep on the beds. Bummer. There is a small fridge in the room and also a one cup coffee maker. I went down to the lounge last night called Steels. The wine was good the nachos were good and the waitress was really friendly.

I don’t know if I’m just being a princess but this is a really poorly run hotel. –upon trying to check in, there was only one super flustered receptionist at the front desk. Took forever to check in because of her trying to multitask and admitting she was overwhelmed but also tech issues with the card reader. I was asked again and again for some number, that she could not explain and finally I just said«do I need it to check in» she said no. Agggg. When I got my card finally I went up to my room and they didn’t work. Had to go back down to her and she had a colleague from thy restaurant use a key to let me in. Mind you, I just got off a flight and was super exhausted. Top it all off. Called for room service and nobody answered the phone. Hung up and called again and a grumpy woman answered to take my order. This is my impression upon my first 20 mins. Sorry but I’m super disappointed for a hotel that sells itself as «for executives». I’ve stayed at W Hotels, Sheratons, Marriotts and Omnis and this is by far the worst hotel I’ve been to next to a shady motel near Chicago midway airport I was stuck at due to a flight cancellation. The rooms were ok. Clean, nothing spectacular and didn’t expect it to be for the price. The lady who brought me my food twice during my stay was pleasant.

This hotel is awesome. I don’t know what to say, it rocks. The staff is friendly, they gave helpful advise, the rooms and bathrooms were huge and well taken care of and although I didn’t eat at the Graze restaurant in the hotel, the food in the pictures posted outside looked amazing. Additionally, I love how these guys went above and beyond the run-of-the-mill hotels. I especially enjoyed the complimentary sewing kit, mouth wash, lip balm, shoe polish kit with the shoe horn and«luxury» soap bar. If you’re staying in Calgary, this is the place to be!

I was in Calgary for a meeting at our big office. I’d never been to Calgary before and unfortunately never had a chance to poke around the town on this trip. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here at the Executive Inn. One of my work colleagues in our Edmonton office stays here every time he’s down in Calgary. That there says something good about this place. The place has a little older kind of 1970s feel, kind of dark looking in the lobby and hallways. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities you’d expect in a hotel of this class catering mostly to business travelers. Free wifi. Teevee is not HD flat screen but that’s OK. The desk chair is a dining room chair and not a bona fide office desk chair. But these are all minor issues. Overall this place is a great value. The best part is the breakfast buffet, at C$ 13.95, it’s all you can eat and even a breakfast chef to whip up your favorite omelet. I saw a table of Calgary cops having breakfast here so you know it’s good. The breakfast server took good care of me. I told him I grew up in LA so it turns out he’s a huge Laker fan, named his dog Kobe and has five Kobe Bryant jerseys for each of Kobe’s NBA championships. Seriously, in Calgary.
