I had booked 2 nights over the phone. When I went to check in the clerk wanted to do a $ 300 pre-authorization on my credit card. My card got declined. This should not have been a huge deal as I had other payment options with me. As I was pondering my options, the clerk noticed my credit card was a pre-paid Mastercard and told me he couldn’t accept it. My main credit card is a BMO pre-paid Travel Masercard. I’ve used it to book hotels, rent cars and ore. This is the first time I’ve ever been turned down. When I told the clerk that I’ve never before had the card turned down, he began to get hostile. I had other payment options with me but all of a sudden the hotel clerk was treating me like I was about to rip him off. At one point the hotel clerk had taken an imprint of my card and had me sign an agreement. When I asked for a copy of this contract he flat out refused. I’ve asked BMO to watch my card for fraudulent activity. Where I come from, both parties get a copy of all contracts. This hotel is one of the less expensive ones in the area and perhaps there’s a reason for that. I won’t be staying at Super 8 any time soon. The Comfort Inn in the same parking lot was more than happy to help me.

This was not the cheapest hotel in the area, but we decided to go with it because of the free breakfast. Big mistake. The gentleman working the front desk assured me he would be there when we checked in and he kept his word so that was pleasant. Check out was very quick and easy too. As for the room, that was awful. The towels were not white, they were kind of a dirty off white color from not being washed with bleach after many uses. The room smelled like mens cologne. The floor of the shower was dirty from many people’s feet and inadequate cleaning. There was a freaking hole in my bed sheet. A ripped HOLE! This was anything BUT super. Oh and the breakfast, well, that was just sad. And I had to stand for a good part of breakfast because there weren’t enough chairs in the dining room.
