I’ve been seeing Chrissy at 8th street for over two years and I will never leave her! I know she’s particularly amazing with blonde colors, that is why I started seeing her, but I’ve referred friends of all colors and styles to her and they’ve been so happy as well. She’s been with Hedkandi for many years, and her experience is evident. I’ve had so many compliments on my hair because of Chrissy! Her and her assistant Danika are kind, open, accommodating and truly listen and care about the style, tone and color that you’re after. Love!

I went to the 8th Street location and Jody was the stylist that was recommended to me for curly hair. I went for a consultation and I told her my situation of another stylist thinning out my hair 4 years ago and my hair has never recovered from it and I was considering cutting it all off to start over again. She sorta talked me out of it and suggested some other cuts to give me a style and volume. I went back a week later for the cut and she cut my hair wet and shook out my curls and noticed she was cutting little pieces throughout the interior of my hair. She said it was to take out«negative space». When I got home my hair felt so much thinner and as the days went by it started to get knotted and fall out from all the different lengths. I had to go to another salon to trim it up so that it wouldn’t knot so much. He didn’t understand what she was trying to achieve. It still falls so flat and frizzy and I don’t understand what was the point on why Jody cut out my curls from the interior of my hair. I didn’t go to her and indicate my hair was too thick or too curly for her to do this. My suggestion would have been to cut it dry to see how the hair falls and cut the ends off and not random pieces within the interior. It’s upsetting because I have been trying to grow it out for 4 years and now I am back to square one once again. I’m getting married next year and I won’t have the hair I desired. I am not sure what I could have communicated better for her to understand why I came to her in the first place. I would assume by me saying my hair has not recovered from thinning shears years ago that it would be a good indicator not to cut out my curls, Also what makes a good hairdresser in my opinion is someone who tells you what they are doing beforehand and show you how much they are cutting off to make sure you are okay with it. If she would of told me she was cutting out my curls, I would have gotten up and left. Why would she do this to me? I don’t understand. I expect this level from someone at Magic Cuts. All that hair progress I had over 4 years gone!!!

This is my first time going to a more upscale salon to get a men’s cut. I was thoroughly impressed with the job they did. Very welcoming right off the bat. I was open to what type of hairstyle to get when going there and my stylist suggested a great cut for my hair and it turned out amazing. I love that they offer ‘clean-up’ appointments in between cuts that are free of charge as well. I enjoyed going here so much that I suggested my girlfriend try it for herself. I was also surprised how affordable it was here. I was expecting it to be much more expensive. I will be going back.

Listen… I been going to Chrissy for over five years. I get my hair done about 3 — 4 times a year. That’s not including the appointments for special occasions such as Christmas parties. I absolutely love her and followed her from the Arts Hotel to the 8th St location. She’s phenom but my last appt a few weeks ago was more than disappointing. The only time she touched my hair was to perform a colour… a whole 20 minutes. I did not see her for the rest of the appt. Not even to check on her Assistant’s progress. Her assistant washed and toned my hair… I expected that much. BUT the bored Assistant also blow dried and styled my hair… WTH!!! THEKICKER… she kept asking me if I was going out or going home. When I stated I was going home, she then proceeded to style my hair half-ass and sent me on my way. At this point I’m paying for my service… no sight of Chrissy or the bored Assistant, not even a thank you from my Stylist of over five years. I have no problem paying the $ 250.00 for a service, leaving a proper tip or buying product… as long as my ACTUALSTYLIST is doing the service. If I’m paying the prices for the Stylist’s level of 4 or 5, then the ACTUALSTYLISTNEEDSTOCOLOUR, BLOWDRYANDSTYLEMYHAIR!!! IFTHEASSISTANTISDOING A MAJORITYOFTHEAPPT… you need to charge the appropriate prices. You also need to make sure she’s treating every appt the same. ITDOESN’T MATTERIF I’M GOINGOUTORGOINGHOME… EITHERWAY I’M PAYINGTHESAMEPRICEFORMYAPPT! If this continues I will take my business elsewhere. There are other high-end salons that will be happy to take my business and actually do their job.
