I had my hair cut & coloured here and it is horrible. I have a spot on the top of my head where she must have touched with dye because I have a thumb print of color where no color should be. It’s blotchy and I’m pretty sure my 9 yr old kid could have done a better job. I contacted the salon to get it fixed and they screwed up my appointment and I didn’t go back… if you can’t book an appointment correctly and you can’t cut or color hair… there is no chance I am going to let them touch my hair to ‘fix’ it. I would not suggest going here… if I could have given zero stars I would have. I am SO disappointed with my experience.

Got a decent haircut, was too pricey for what I got. The girl cutting my hair was so awkward, couldn’t wait to get out of there.

This salon went from 5 stars to 1. What happened Chrome??! I’ve been going to this salon for 6 years and now almost all of their stylist left including mine. Its practically a ghost town every time I go in now. I went to see one of the only girls who didn’t leave during the transition and both times were equally disappointing. After spending over $ 200 on a cut and color I pulled my hair back to find it didn’t even start at my scalp and I couldn’t even tell that she had cut my hair at all. Cmon guys! I’m so sad because this place was once amazing. Goodbye Chrome. See you never.

A really solid haircut. I had Phillip, and he asked some great questions to figure out what I wanted, and had a fantastic execution to give me the«edgy-but-short and simple» cut I wanted.

I’m new to Calgary and urgently needed a low-maintenance(but refined) haircut for upcoming job interviews. My previous stylist exclusively specializes in men’s short haircuts, so I was slightly reluctant to try a salon that deals with all genders, over a classic barbershop. However, Chrome seemed quite popular on Unilocal so I took the leap of faith. I called and after briefly explaining what I was looking for, the receptionist booked me with a ‘young talent’ stylist named Alana for that evening. Upon entering, the salon gives a chic, no-nonsense vibe. It’s very well kept and bustling with trendy customers with clean sophisticated looks. I could tell that most were frequent visitors by how warmly they greeted their stylists. I don’t know much about women’s hairstyles but a young lady was ecstatic about her ombré and couldn’t stop hugging her stylist. Chrome seems to attract mainly fashion-forward clientele(although nothing too avant-garde). They also seem to have a popular products display, although I didn’t check it out myself. I highly recommend Alana. She’s an adept, smart and dedicated stylist who carefully listened to what I was looking for and asked me relevant questions to know precisely what I wanted. She took her time to make it happen and I walked out with hair that looks and feels great. I think you can really tell the skill-level of a hairstylist by the evenness of length and form on short black hair like mine; any disproportional/asymmetrical exceptions are easily noticeable. My stylist definitely met my expectations. Like I casually mentioned how I like the silhouette of my hair straight down by the sides, and she made sure I got exactly that. I can’t really think of major downsides, but if anything I would recommend they improve their website. Stylists’ profiles and online bookings would be great additions. The place is moderately pricey(I believe I paid $ 38.5, minus the tip), but definitely worth it and highly recommended!

Came here for the first time and met Robyn. She is an amazing stylist! I have thick asian hair and she managed to lighten my hair to a beautiful ash blonde! My previous stylists have turned my hair a brassy copper colour. So happy with the results. Robyn used olaplax to help protect my hair and it was worth every penny. Will definitely come back and will recommend her to anyone who has dark hair and wants to go lighter.

Phillip used to be my hairdresser. He is fantastic! You can tell how passionate and focused he is with hair. It is very refreshing to see someone with that amount of passion.

Went here for the first time today. Pretty good experience — Richard asked great questions about what I was looking for and expected out of the cut. Chrome has 5 levels of stylists & pricing — which seems a little excessive/complicated to me, but that’s beside the point — ranging from $ 60 – 100 for a cut. They were full, for a Saturday, but not overly busy. All in all, I love my simple, straightforward cut and will likely be back.

Hooray 1st Review of my FAVE Hair Salon :)) I’ll keep it short with a list of awesomeness: 1) Ask for Philip — I was hesitant to have a male stylist at first, but this guy will rock your locks. Guaranteed. Don’t be offended when he tells you to uncross your legs and sit up straight. And don’t be surprised at the silence when he starts cutting, he’s in the zone. 2) They use Aveda products. Me + Aveda = Pure Love. 3) Great location on 17th ave SW, right next to Classic Jacks. Paid indoor parking in the building, or outdoor lot parking one block away(across from Beano). Or street, but good luck on 17th… 4) Rad staff, with trendy tresses. You can be confident that you won’t end up sitting between a toddler with a bowl on his head, or a Granny going blue… and no 17 year old stylists here. 5) Not overly busy, fussy, or girly. I don’t like the spa feel of some salons; people flapping around, and the smell of potions & skin & nails… This is clean and contemporary. 6) It’s not cheap… but you wear your hair everyday, so it’s worth every penny. I say. Now go sort out your mane! KLM
