Just a stones throw away from my humble home is this cute little bakery. For many years I had refused to go in as I have a love affair with Chinese bakeries, but it turns out they are varied in their offerings. On my last visit, I walked out with two viet subs. Perfectly made, but very costly. Their Chinese buns are very close in taste to the ones I get from full-fledged bakeries as well. Not quite there yet! They have a great dessert, bars and bread selection. Will be sure to hit them up the next time I need a quick pick me up as well.

Great value. Try the curry pies, they are cheap and super tasty. The subs are perfect for a quick lunch. I frequent this place as this gem is close by to my home. The steam buns are also worth trying if you like sweet/savoury snacks

I visited this bakery based solely on Unilocal reviews. Not bad but not delicious. We bought marble cookies, cream puff, cream éclair and French bread. Cream puff was fresh and tasty says 12 yo. Éclair tasted old. French bread was nice. But no better than $ 1 loaves at Superstore. Marble cookies were fine. It wasn’t terrible but I won’t go back.

Yummy baked goods, delicious Vietnamese subs for a fair price. This is the place you want to live or work near. Swing by on the way home for bread, buns or a dessert for the potluck dinner you’re going to. Or head over at lunch for a sub because you didn’t bring your lunch to work.

I love the Vietnamese subs here. Great price and fast service. It can get really busy at lunchtime. Their bakery items are tasty too.

Good prices. Nice staples in an Asian bakery. And… they have pretty decent Vietnamese subs.

#112 As many times as I have been to this strip mall, I never once thought of going to the bakery. That was until today, when I went with 2 co-workers to the Phở Thanh Vietnamese Noodle House & Restaurant for lunch. We had agreed to get another co-worker a Vietnamese sub. I naturally assumed from this restaurant. From the movie ‘The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert’, Marion states that«Assumption, my dear Mitz, is the mother of all fuck-ups.» Marion is spot on. The bakery is a medium size place with no place to sit and a cooler with sodas, water, and Beatrice Chocolate Milk(sugar and natural trans fats). Then, it hit me, from out the blue, the desert trays near the cash register. Peanut Butter Nanaimo Bar, Irish Cream Naniamo Bar, Nanaimo Bar for $ 1.10 each! These are normally $ 3+ anywhere else. Cookies as low as $ 0.45 and $ 4.50 for a dozen. The breads, rye. I had to stop here. I was already experiencing the sugar high from peanut butter and Irish cream nanaimo bars. How could I been wrong for so long? The lady behind the counter seems a little shy and not outgoing but she is efficient and sincere. Maybe once you get to know here as a regular customer then she’s different. As people have already mentioned, this is a partial deli. I was able to snag a bite of my co-workers Vietnamese sub. Hmmmm This will be my daily fix for sugar and subs.

I’ve been to this bakery quite a few times over the years to pick up bread/buns/bakery treats and decided today I needed some buns for our supper of sloppy Joe’s. This bakery has a small but fresh selection of bakery delights, breads/buns, cakes and a few deli items. I did not know they made Vietnamese subs but the steady stream of people coming in to order subs for their lunch gave it away. I like Vietnamese subs so I decided to try a chicken satay one with the works since it was also my lunch time. The price was very reasonable and the sub arrived toasty, warm and fresh tasting. It was not the best I’ve had but it was decent and I would try it again. I do like this little bakery for some of their items. everything is always fresh and they have gotten better over the years. The only con I have is there is no friendly or warm customer service from the people that work there… every time I’ve been it’s more like a get in, pay, get out, next… mentality…even again today. But watching the flow of people coming in… it doesn’t appear to affect business whatsoever… which I guess I am an example of as well because I keep coming back ;). Little place… off the beaten path… in a strip mall… worth trying out.

I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that some of their products are made elsewhere, like M&M Meat Shops, for example. Several of the deserts seem suspicious. My spidey senses could be wrong, but as a result, I haven’t bought much here. I caved today though because I thought I should revisit the situation, and it remains the same. However, I walked out with a Vegetable Roll and Rocky Road cookie. The roll is made with thick pastry and despite the fact that I couldn’t pinpoint what veggies were in it, I enjoyed it. Then I ate the cookie, which didn’t contain the combination of ingredients I was expecting. Raisins and no marshmallows? And I couldn’t figure out what the crunchy bits were made of. For $ 2.30 I was satisfied, but overall, it’s just not a bakery/deli that entices me.

I’ve lived in the area for 2 years and am sorry to say I’ve never set foot in Hunterhorn Bakery before today. Everything in the bakery/deli looked delectable and the reasonable prices certainly helped sweeten the experience. Staff were very friendly and fast, I was shortly on my way with my goodies and could barely wait to get home to eat them. Once I dug in, my expectations were more than met. I got a beef satay sub and a cream puff. The sub was toasty, fresh and delicious. I adore Vietnamese subs and this was one of the best I’ve had, and at $ 5 much more reasonably priced than other places I have been. I am also a HUGE fan of cream puffs, though I keep my intake to a bare minimum to keep my waistline in check. The cream puff was fresh, light, made with real whipped cream and had an extremely delightful fruit surprise in the middle. I will definitely be coming back, as well as keeping these guys in mind for cakes for special occasions.

Lookin’ for a place that’s half bakery and half deli? somewhere where you can purchase a combination of healthy treats, cookies, bread, fresh bagels, deli items and custom designed wedding cakes? Well, you’ve come to the right place: Hunterhorn Bakery. Specifically knowledgeable in baking allergy-free foods, Hunterhorn is a true gem that can be found inside of Hunterhorn Plaza. And just a helpful hint: their coconut buns are TODIEFOR. They are crunchy, sweet balls of goodness and at ~.80 cents a bun, you can’t help but have a couple :)
