Review #13 of Unilocal’s 30 Day Challenge 2012 I went here on a Friday night around 8pm, so maybe a little later than the regular business would come in. It was pretty empty, but the service was polite. The food itself was pretty good. It had a lot of similar items to Marathon downtown. Not as extensive a menu as I’ve seen at some other restaurants, and mostly lamb and beef dishes. I do love my Doro Wot(chicken dish) so I was a bit disappointed about that. They did not have any orange juice even though it was on the menu which was a bit disappointing, but it happens. Another one of my favourite Ethiopian dishes is pretty much any of the vegetable dishes, so I was looking forward to trying their dish. We found out 30 minutes after we ordered that they didn’t have any vegetables… so we only had meat dishes. So no veggie dishes, no chicken dishes… And we ordered the lean cubed beef dish, and they also didn’t have that… Of the food that did come, the lamb was good, great flavour and tender, the raw ground beef with cottage cheese(ketfo?) was also good, and then we had the Cha Cha(recommended in lieu of Gored Gored) which was okay but I probably wouldn’t order it again. It doesn’t have that spice and flavour that some of the dishes made with berbere paste does. So overall it’s decent, it didn’t seem to have very many menu options and then even after that most of the menu options were not available to us… prices are definitely higher than other African restaurants… but worth a try anyway.
