I haven’t frequented this Jameson’s in a few years, so going back to meet up with some former coworkers brought back some good memories! Since we were a relatively big group, a table was booked beforehand so we didn’t have an issues seating everyone. Drink and food orders were taken promptly, being that it was a Friday I figured there would have been some specials but the only thing was the platter. The platter that arrived was HUGE! It was loaded with pulled pork sliders, fish tacos, ribs, wings, sausage(kinda weird) and spinach dip –with veggies and pitas to dip. Our server came around quite often, and I thought it was great that she came by just before happy hour ended so we could our last happy hour order. If you’re ever in the area, stop by, they have daily food and drink specials you can take advantage of

We have been here quite a few times and I really enjoy it. We had our first patio day this weekend which was amazing. They have a great selection of beers and food. They carry tons of beers, and if you don’t agree with me then head in again because some of them were just started. Their house beer is also good for the price. My favourite thing on the menu is the pork sliders. They are delicious and I can never turn them down. If you’re up for it, order the Highlander burger. two 8 oz burger patties, and 4 oz of pulled pork. It looked deadly but my bf still ordered it, and finished, as well as his side salad and our shared pulled pork appetizer. I’m still not sure how he did it but the waittress was impressed, and I wasn’t sure how I felt. Another delicious option is the chicken ciabatta with a yummy garlic aioli and guacamole, or the steak salad! My recommendation: A Newcastle Brown ale with the pulled pork to start(share) and a steak salad. You won’t be disappointed!

I really like the openness and atmosphere of this pub as it’s good for mingling and people watching. It certainly can get busy and very loud, which has driven me somewhat batty in the past(you know, cranking the music to compete with crowd noise). Despite tonight’s –38 degrees with the windchill weather, it still was half full. I was really happy that they actually had the heat on high enough that I was comfortable without a coat. The food has always been good(I really enjoy the wraps) and tonight was no exception. I shared the full order Nacho Deluxe with two girlfriends and it seemed to have a unique flavor, like a hint of dill and garlic. Apparently a seven cheese blend is used, so maybe that was it. They really layer the nachos and cheese and the pile was high. The salsa was also spicy and good, like it was house-made. One heck of a feed for three chicks. Jamesons Own Lager was on special so I tried that for the first time. Not bad, especially for a $ 3.9516oz glass. I’d order it again. Our server had a lackluster attitude and I struggled to tip her, but otherwise it was a pleasant after work outing. I’d frequent Jamesons more often if it were closer to my neighborhood. By the way, there were no mini«kilts» worn by the servers as I’ve seen in the past. If the signage didn’t say Irish Pub, you’d never notice it was meant to be one.

I worked in proximity to this pub for many years. I often visited for lunch and have been a few times in the evening. I really like the burger here and am always amazed at how juicy it is for the size of the patty. The beer selection is satisfactory, nothing exceptional on tap however this is one pub I tend to make sure I don’t fill up on beer. I like the burger that much.

Jameson’s was a regular spot for our group of friends. It was convenient in that it was close to almost everyone in our group(except me). We would usually get together here to watch hockey games. We also trusted Jameson’s with a special night, but more on that later. Jameson’s isn’t really an Irish bar. Although, most Irish bars aren’t really. If they were, you’d likely only find the Irish there, which I don’t think would be enough to sustain a business in Calgary. But they certainly try and to the naked eye they pull it off. So as far as Canadian-Irish bars go, they hit the nail on the head. At it’s core, Jameson’s caters more to larger groups wanting to watch sports and the after work crowd. The demographic is usually pretty young and the staff are friendly and attractive. We’ve never had any issues with the food either. The special event I alluded to earlier was New Years Eve. We were trying to decide on a New Years Eve location for the group and hadn’t really thought about Jameson’s until it came up during one of our visits there. It was definitely the right choice. They had a DJ, a good selection of buffet-style food, the usual New Years trinkets and champagne at midnight. They also had other stuff near the end of the night, but at the stage of the night everything was a blur. Our server was fantastic and went to great lengths to help us embarrass the youngest guest at our table(just turned 18) who had a crush on our server. I feel bad for the kid, but our server ensured his unending embarrassment and it all made for a great night. Sadly, our group visits have stopped, but were we to start them up again I would gladly have them at Jameson’s again!

With a name like Katie, I have a pretty good claim to Irish roots. Throw in a visit to Ireland, and I can claim some authority for distinguishing an Irish Pub. Dark wooden tables, Guinness on tap and servers in «kilts»(short, patterned skirts) do not an Irish bar make. You’ll find plenty of these staples in Jameson’s, but not a whole lotta Irishness. Jameson’s is more like a classy sports bar. They have specials during many of the games, and flatscreen TVs strewn around the bar showing whatever sport has a big game on. The music is loud and contemporary, but you’re still able to hold a decent conversation. And they have some really, really comfy chairs close to the fireplace. The space is wide and open, and often busy. For some reason, my one word descriptor for the place is «cosy». They also feature some pretty good drink and food specials. The hot wings will kill your tastebuds and most of the food is traditional Irish-style grub and pretty decent. Basically, Jameson’s is as good a place as any for a quiet night out at the pub with friends. It’s not really very Irish, but it’s fun.
