I went to Kaynes for the first time this weekend based on some other reviews I’ve seen about their food. It wasn’t terribly busy but it wasn’t totally empty either. It’s a nice place, and although I’m not crazy about that many tvs(there are a LOT), the food and service were well above average. Our server was friendly, and the food came out really fast! We had the brie bites to start(best) butternut squash ravioli(second best) and one of their pizzas(third). Overall a good experience. I know there’s a few pubs in the area but Kaynes comes out on top.

Since my first visit, March, 2010, I have become a regular at Kayne’s. And… since they re-launched this last weekend, I figure an update is in order. :) New menu item — Smashed Potato Dip So delicious! Ready to spoon it directly into my mouth. Potato dip with chives, other yummy stuff, and sliced bacon on top. Served with warm, soft, crispy edged pita chips. I noticed one of my favourites missing(Med. Penne) but a few new additions. Personally, I like smaller menus. Enough choice, but not too much that I’m confused or question the quality of food. This menu is a great size! The first time we visited I was quite overwhelmed with the menu, but they’ve cut down quite a bit it seems. Oh, and they have delicious brunches! Have I mentioned the $ 4 Caeser Sundays? Staff is great for the most part, attentive, quality checks, keep my drink full, but don’t pester. Great for sports! They have a downstairs area where they usually have the sound on so you can listen to the game, and about 6 tvs in that area, so Sunday Football is a lot of fun. Plus they have a little competition/giveaway thing. Personal recommendations: Smashed Potato Dip Sweet Señorita Salad Steak Sandwich Yam fries with their chipolte mayo Anything? I feel like I should be writing ads for this place…

I liked it. I was here on a Sunday afternoon around 3, and it was pretty empty. They serve brunch on the weekends until three pm, which is nice for the hungover crowd, I’m sure. I just got the caesar salad, so I can’t really say if the food was GREAT or not. The music selection was really good though, and the inside is spacious and clean. Don’t go out of your way to make a visit here, but if you’re in the area and you’re hungry, the menu has quite a bit of selection for pretty much whatever mood you’re in.

THE perfect place to meet up with friends for bevvies and snacks. Located down south on 17th Ave, Kayne’s is welcoming, affordable, chillin’, and FUN! The staff is friendly, the food is tasty and their furniture is comfy. I totally feel the vibe here. Like Lindsay K, I can’t wait to check out their patio as soon as summer rolls around! See ya there!

This place seems quite conspicuous to me. I’ve driven up and down 17th Avenue South countless times and usually don’t even notice this place. I’ve been to the Tim Horton’s that is almost right next to it, and I still haven’t seen Kayne’s. Well, one day I finally opened my eyes, saw the restaurant and pub, and wandered on in. I was surprised by what I saw. A lovely interior, coupled with huge comfy chairs and big wooden tables made this place look rustic and welcoming. It didn’t have the typical pub/restaurant feel to it, which was a nice change. It’s actually pretty classy inside… something you wouldn’t expect after seeing the outside. It’s got an extremely plain exterior, with a big patio blocked off by a large wall. You wouldn’t even notice the patio was there until you’re staring down into it. This would be nice in the summer time, though. The drinks were actually pretty cheap too! We spent a couple of hours in the place, chatting and drinking, and thought we’d be racking up quite a bill. You can imagine our delight when we each owed $ 20 after a couple hours of drinking! That’s what I call good prices! So, next time I’m driving down 17th looking for a good place to have a drink and a chat, I won’t just pass by Kayne’s! I know it’s there, and I’m going back again!
