1. server walked when we were still talking to her. 2. it took over 30 mins to get the soup after order. 3. After we done, we went to pay, the owner refuse to show the bill, after 15 mins conversation with the owner. finally we got our bill, and we found out the owner secretly over charged us $ 10. I grew up eating here, but I think it’s slipped a bit — not sure if there was a change in management, but the service is lacking. Food is still great though!

Terrible service. The lady at the bar(the owner) is rude, service is slow and they brought out pork dumplings when we ordered vegetarian. We asked nicely to get the veggie that we ordered but she refused and argued shamelessley then swore at us. Honestly the worst service I’ve ever received. She was more concerned with losing the cost of the dish rather than correcting her mistake. Plenty of better options available, don’t waste your time here unless you want to ruin your evening! Would absolutely give zero stars if I could.

The lady at the bar acts like she is doing you a favor by being there. Very rude when I went to pay the bill. For the first 15 minutes I was there she was on the phone talking loudly not conducive to a relaxing meal. The soup was greasy for beef phở. For $ 10.00 it was not appetizing at all. I will not go back. This is the first and only poor review I have written.

I would give this place no stars if possible. Walked in and sat down at the only table available that was of course next to the kitchen. It was a Sunday and the only reason we came here was because phở kim was closed. No one said hello, offered tea or nothing everyone here is just miserable and it shows. Only one lady was kind and helpful. We ordered a rice and porkchop dish which was bland and basically just slapped on the plate. I’m not one to diss or give bad ratings but the service I received here today was the WORSTSERVICE I’VEEVERRECEIVEDINMYLIFE. While we were at our table 3 people up and left. They would just offer to pay whatever appetizers they ordered. They take forever to make the food. They are very obviously under-staffed and money hungry! I bet they have one man back in that kitchen and they are probably on his ass with a whip. The tables were all dirty they gave us two super filthy and old cups of water which need to most definitely be discarded. And the cherry on top was when we finished our food and finally someone came out with our appetizer wings, which tasted like a dirty freezer. In all honesty, I will NOT be returning here. And it is a shame that they have such terrible service when they are located in such prime location.

Terrible service and it takes for ever for the food to come out. So why do we come back so often? THESATAYISAMAZING. The beef and beef ball satay phở is hands down my favourite and is the only reason we come back. In fact I can say we as a group have probably gone 30 times in the span of a year during our lunch breaks and still none of the staff recognizes us. It’s ok though cause the satay more than makes up for everything

Where to go on a Friday night when you need to make it to National in time to skip the almost always massive line? Why yes, there must be a Vietnamese shop open for some late night eats. We were thinking of going to Shikiji but they were already closed. Our eyes spotted Phở So 1 across the street — decision made, we hustled over and were seated immediately. This is the original location(the second one is out in Midnapore). OG is always the way to go. The prices are dirt cheap and their phở options come in three sizes(small, large and extra large). — Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk(#32)($ 3.99) — my sis and her friend both ordered up a Viet iced coffee. This one, which I’ve never seen before, was served in a bowl of hot water. Interesting. Drip, baby drip. — Pork salad rolls with prawns(#19A)($ 5.99) — don’t fret, there are actually three rolls when you order but my sis is too fast for me and grabbed before I could get a picture. These were pretty standard fare. — Bun bo hue(#23C)($ 10.18 extra large) — I had to order an XL because why not? It’s only a dollar more than the large size. The bun bo hue was very good — spicy, fragrant, good depth in flavour and smelled soooo good. The meat was a tad chewy but didn’t distract from the main event. I haven’t had a chance to try any other Vietnamese places in Calgary yet but this one was quite delicious. — Phở ga(#16)($ 7.88 small) — my sis ordered the chicken phở. Wow, a small costs you less than $ 8.00! WTF, that’s like unheard of in Alberta. The small is actually pretty reasonably sized — she was bursting to the seams after eating her bowl. — Shredded skin pork and grilled meat ball with vermicelli(#22D)($ 10.88) — For some reason, we thought this was a shared appetizer style dish but it’s definitely not. It’s a vermicelli bowl with a couple spring rolls, meat balls and other goodies. I didn’t have a taste but our other friend enjoyed it. Just know it looks different from the menu pic… Phở So 1 was pretty darn good. The place is bare and minimalistic, but if you’re here for food, the prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous. That’s all I want when I go for phở. Close enough to downtown and they are open 7 days a week(bonus!).

Love the beef sate phở here. Its got a great soup base with strong flavours not for the meek cause it does have quite a kick to it. If you enjoy a spicy bowl of Vietnamese noodles I definitely recommend phở so.

So far so good! Finally made it in here but was only able to try their phở. Will have to check out the vermicelli another time. #1 phở(dac biet)…5 stars. One of the best tasting broths in town… ALMOST as good as Phở Hoa on 17th Ave SE. The broth is well seasoned and there’s plently of meat. Definitely one of the 2 best phở’s in this neck of the woods and a must try… the other is Phở Hoai Vietnamese Noodle House in China Town(just as flavorful but has a stronger beef bone flavor if you care for that).

Good food we plan to come back. The avocado shake was really good, not too sweet. The young coconut drink also very good. I had the spicy beef phở #15 and enjoyed it very much. The salad rolls were also very good.

The Phở is still tasty, broth as good as before. This time I ordered the fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were much thinner than I’ve had previously here so the balance between filling and wrapper was not the best and the prices had increased. The one thing I dislike is when a restaurant hikes the prices and reduces the portions, do one but not both. You can’t be stingy with food and I don’t mean amount of food but there are certain things you cannot do. When you skimp on filling in the spring rolls and affect the taste that’s being stingy to me. The rolls were freshly fried and crisp but as I said the balance was not there.

The place looked nice and modern. The old lady that gave our menu was off putting. No smiles, no hi or hello. NOTHING! did not even tell us how to place our order. Finally after a little while a younger man came along and took our orders. He on the other was pleasant. Our food was delivered right away by a young lady who was also pleasant. Food was ok. I definitely had better phở than what i had at that place. Broth was a little bland. They didn’t have the chilli oil which was a great disappointment. Came to the counter to pay our bill, and the same grumpy old hag was taking our money. She was just miserable and it shows. Will definitely not come back nor recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve eatin here a bunch of times but keep going back to the satay phở. I love it here and if i hadn’t tried some other dishes on the menu i would give this place 5 stars. I’ve eaten the vermicelli dishes and had one thing with what was apparantly meant to be crab. it was a rolled tofu like substance and was gross. Won’t be having that again. Vermicelli dishes are ok. Sandwiches are good but not as good as that sub place across from the harry hays building downtown but those are delicious! Service is no fuss and fast. i like that you write down your own order and that they don’t try to be fancy. Dining area is fresh, modern and clean. Thumbs up! Overall great place to eat and reasonably priced!

This place is not going to impress you by it’s looks. It stands on it’s food alone. If you want something that’ll make you cry because of how good it is, and at the same time make you scream because of how spicy hot it is(if you decide to be a hero and eat the chili) this place is for you. They also have non-screaming dishes. I’ve been visiting and ordering delivery from this place for about a year now. It’s among a bunch of other Vietnamese restaurants, but I choose this place always because they’re close and super consistent and really good. My favorite is the 15a which is the seafood phở. It’s always really good and way more than I can finish if I get the extra large, and I can eat a ton of food. They always over estimate how long the food will take. They usually say it’ll be an hour and it’s at my door in 30 minutes which makes me really happy. Also, when you’re at the restaurant the food is on the table in like 10 minutes. It’s always super fast. Go here because it’s tasty and you will love it.

Phở So 1 is tucked away in a corner in a long hall-like seating area with entrance/exit doors on each end, giving people access to enter from the storefront on Centre street, or from the back where there is a parking lot. Seat yourself and await your tea. The restaurant interior isn’t much to look at, but there is a large fish tank with a gigantic fish inside, which I always like to watch from afar. I was introduced to this place via a couple of friends who use this place as their go-to place for phở. It is definitely good soup. Really good spring and salad rolls as well. And best of all? Cheap! You can have a filling and satisfying meal here for around $ 10 easy. It’s especially nice on a cold night, when all you want is some spicy hot broth and soft noodles. Really good soup, definitely worth checking out.

Love love love! Finally found some Phở to write home about. Few things in this world make me happy like phở does, I don’t know why but there is something about shoving my face in a bowl of steaming broth and noodles that just puts a smile on my face. Works everytime. The rest of the folks really nailied this place already so I don’t actually have much to add. Good clean broth with a lovely fragrance, tons of noodles, and of course the sprouts, basil and lime on the side. One bonus this place has is that you can choose from 3 sizes of phở to satisfy your appetite. I ordered the small — and it was to much for me as it was. We also had some fresh rolls, but really the Phở was the focal point. I say don’t go for the noodle bowl but hit this place for phở. Also, you can park behind and there is also a back door to the resto.

This place is a solid choice for Phở. I didn’t bother reading the menu(opting instead to go with my standard XL bowl of phở with rare steak and tripe), but if I had I probably would have tried the 16V that Sarah Louise mentioned in her review(though I would have added steak to it; I’m a vegetable-loving omnivore). I’l be back for that… Things I liked about the phở here included: a lot more sprouts and basil than I’m used to getting; a very meaty and robust(though slightly murky) broth; and the use of noodles of varying width(which create an inconsistency in texture that I like). A couple of minor issues: first, the tripe wasn’t sliced/shredded thin the way I like it. Instead, it came in somewhat chunkier pieces, which I found slightly unpalatable. Second, by the time the bowl arrived at the table the ‘rare steak’ was well done. Perhaps the broth was too hot; perhaps the steak was added too early.
