I might be a little soft on Ridley’s because I got my first bike here. The start of a lifetime of mountain biking for me: a 1998 Trek VRX400. Talk a bout a gateway drug. I destroyed that thing so many time over and it destroyed me twice as much, but biking is in my blood now from that day. Nowadays, they seem to be an all round bike shop, serving up a mix of road bikes, mountain bikes, and seem to be venturing a little deeper into fashionable bike lines like Linus — This is a good shop to go to if you’re looking for a good bike. You’ll skip the junky low end stuff as they deal mostly in Trek and Giant in the mountain bike world. They don’t seem to get into the real high end when it comes to the freeride/downhill world, but if you’re into the typical rich old guys types like road or XC they’ll probably have some super high ends to take your money. Likewise — everyday cyclists looking for a decent quality ride without breaking the bank to a ridiculous extend will probably be able to find something here.

Wow. Worst service. Hey guys! My bad. Moved here from Edmonton recently and brought my bike in to your shop for some seasonal maintenance. I had no idea you had the rite to be sarcastic and insulting with regard to my bike because it isn’t as nice and as cool and as expensive as yours. I’ll just put away a few thousand dollars and invest in a bike I’ll use 5 – 6 months out of the year because I’m only a casual cyclist. I really really apologize about that. Should have done my homework. I’ve tried really hard to maintain this bike I have and took it into my local cycle shop in Edmonton a few times a year for the last few years and never had any trouble. Now I know your standards are much higher than mine. Again I apologize. I’ll go get a much better more expensive bike from any store but yours and I will NEVEREVER set foot in your shop again. No word of a lie, the staff member I was talking to told me he would only do maintenance on a bike like mine if he was going to give it to his mom. Nice.

The Ridleys staff went above and beyond to answer my bombardment of questions and help me to choose the right bike with the right accessories. Their floor staff are not on commission here and are genuine bike folks who love to ride. A refreshing absence of ‘hipsterism’ has made me this bike shop my new go-to.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The staff is friendly and easy going unlike those uppity slacker princes at The Bike Shop. I purchased a mountain bike here for myself and went back to buy a simple bike for my wife because the service was so good on my first purchase. I also take my bike here exclusively for service because its the only place i’ve been where I haven’t been met with a bunch of fast talk trying to convince me I need some expensive repair/upgrade that is likely unnecessary for my simple road biking needs(again, The Bike Shop, im looking in your direction). Josh in service has been especially helpful in both explaining things in common vernacular as well as offering some money saving options on repairs. He has consistently gone above and beyond in terms of customer service and has stayed past closing on more than one occasion with me. I’m a customer for life. A++

If you enjoy being scoffed at by disdainful, 20-something bike hipsters, then you’ll love getting your bike repaired at Ridley’s Cycle. I took my Rocky Mountain Metro 5 hybrid in a few months ago as I was having troubles with my gears. After pointing out the problem to a delightfully surly technician(whose lack of interest was matched only by his impressive beard and tribal tattoos) it was suggested that I get a full tune up. $ 200 dollars and a week later, I picked up my bike. By the time I got home, my gear problem had returned with a metal-grinding vengeance. When I called to explain the situation, the good people at Ridley’s were completely unhelpful, unapologetic and pretty disinterested in doing anything to rectify the situation(that’s kind of their thing — it’s adorable). Unless you’re riding an ultra expensive titanium, diamond-encrusted Tour de France racing bike constructed out of magically enchanted gears and coated in fresh unicorn tears, chances are the bike snobs at Ridley’s are going to be uninterested in helping you. In summation, suck it, Ridley’s Cycle.

Stepped into the store(bike in pieces in my hands) and explained that my handlebars had been stolen in Vancouver. I was not greeted but asked the question«do you have an appointment?» And«we cannot accommodate you until July 9». I then asked if they could recommend another location that might be able to accommodate me sooner and the response was«nope!». This was the worst customer service I received in a long time. My business goes to Lifesport where I was greeted, commiserated with and accommodated day-of.

Great service, knowledgeable staff, good selection, and life-time tune-ups when you purchase from Ridley’s! What’s not to love? I will be buying my new bike from Ridley’s after disappointment at The Bike Shop. MEC had a similar bike for $ 10 less than the Ridley’s bike, but the option of free tune-ups for life sold me. Good show!

I bought a Felt B2 Time Trial bike. Great service. Ask for Luke Way for fitting.

Ridley’s Cycle has some of the best customer service in Calgary. Period. Bike shops are notorious for making someone new to the sport or a casual cyclist uncomfortable –not Ridley’s Cycle. They happily help anyone whether you are a hardcore distance cyclist looking for a specific part or if you’re someone completely new to cycling and you just want to ask some questions. I personally, as a semi-avid cyclist, have bought a few bikes from them and will continue to employ their services regularly.
