Initially came in here to beat the heat, as it was a convenient location walking along 17th Ave. As a proud Canadian, you must own ‘something’ from Roots, be it a sweater, sweatpants, or what else have you. So it never hurts to take a look at what they have in store! A large store space with a different layout than what I’m used to. Men’s section was all the way in the back, but easily set up to see all the stock in a quick glance. One of the newer hats caught my eye, and the staff quickly came over to see if I needed help. Super nice fellow(Kyle i believe) and explained the product without being pushy to make the sale. Even thought the store was literally dead when I walked in, the staff weren’t slacking off and working diligently. Made sure I was looked after and make friendly conversation as well!(Oh, and I did end up buying the hat as I loved the colour!)

Just for the area, not really a shopping retail area with the smörgåsbord of restaurants left right and centre, I love this area, can spend a whole day here.(and I found another burger place, Burgers Inn, but I digress). Big store at corner location. Walking to the men’s section in the back is actually spacious for once. Liked how they put their snack food/souvenirs(maple syrup) on table in front of the cashier. Their jackets are well-made, even the hoodie part is heavy enough so it stays in one place despite the wind lol. Liked how the pockets have zippers to keep your valuables tucked in, but at $ 300, I can wait :) They have a promo going on now for gift cards, you get $ 25GC for every $ 75 you buy. deal!

Where there’s a Canadian City, somewhere there’s a stylishly located Roots. For this Calgary outpost, you’ll find it at the crossroads of Uptown-ish(17th Avenue) and the 4th Street Restaurant Row. The humanity statues in front of the store is also a nice touch. Regardless of the Loonie — US Dollar exchange rate, I also find Roots stuff to be a bit dear price wise. That’s why the Outlet stores(I’ve been to the ones in both Calgary and Edmonton) are worth checking out first. This particular Roots just happened to have some nice sales when I was there, so their great and stylish selection of clothes and accessories were even more tempting this time around.
